“I guess I was wrong and the women were given an apology. I bet it was very carefully worded though, so the police didn't actually admit any wrongdoing. I would love to hear it. I still hope the women sue. I don't often believe in lawsuits, but once in a while there is no good alternative.”

“I hope they don't accept the bribe but sue the damn cops. This was the exact kind of thing Dorner was ranting against. The damn cops think they can get away with doing anything and they never worry about hurting/killing innocent bystanders. They have no real remorse. They do what they feel necessary to keep from being sued. Had there been no witnesses they would not have offered anything to these women, much less a new truck. Where's the apology? I didn't see one. Because an apology would be admitting they did something wrong, and cops NEVER admit that.”

“I believe him too. However, the people he's killing ARE innocent. If he were killing only those who wronged him that would be one thing. Going after the kids is just very wrong. It negates any sympathy I would otherwise feel for him. We don't get to pick our parents.”

“I'm so glad my daughter is an adult. She DOES have a Facebook account, but only shares it with her 'real life' friends and family. I have a Facebook too, but only use it for leaving comments on sites that require it (And it actually angers me that many sites now require it.) I don't use my account for anything else. My daughter's job requires that she set up and maintain business accounts on various social networks, but she doesn't have accounts of her own on most of them. Nor do I. Just huge wastes of time, IMHO.”

Those of you who still think I only eat them to 'impress others' don't take into consideration all the times I prepare them at home where nobody else knows what I'm eating! In fact, I'm going to stop by the store on my way home from work tonight and pick some up for dinner. (Another great thing about them is how quickly your meal can be ready!)”

“I don't believe a word of this story. They jumped on the story of all of the mis-labeled fish and decided this would make a good story. Maybe they were poking fun at those they consider 'food snobs', or maybe they just wanted to turn some stomachs. If you're worried, just start ordering or buying 'calamari steaks'. These are the bodies of very large squid, split, flattened and trimmed. They are often large enough that one is sufficient as a main course. I also make 'calamari burgers' from them by cooking them, popping into a bun with lettuce, tomatoes, etc. The easiest/best way to cook them, IMHO, is to season them with salt, pepper and garlic, lightly dredge in flour, then saute them (very quickly) in butter and olive oil. I have far more than a dozen recipes for squid, and only about 3 of those call for deep frying. I have several Asian recipes for them, not to mention quite a few French recipes. They are part of the cuisine of most cultures that live near the ocean. As for the theory that people only order them to 'impress' others, well I don't know many people willing to pay $10+ for something they don't like. This is a food that can be inedible if cooked badly. (It only takes about 30 seconds to go from perfect little bites to rubber bands!) (cont)”

“OBVIOUSLY you did not listen to the story and have no idea what it said. It most certainly had NOTHING to do with mislabled fish and was humorous in nature. The packing/slaughter house is the agent who started the story (the two boxes of hog rectums were located there), and it was the slaughter house who provided the explanation of their useage. You don't like it? Protest to your local slaughter house.”

“OMG. You are a misogynist of the highest order. And no, that ISN'T a compliment. You honestly believe men can't control themselves and therefore shouldn't share in the blame. And if a woman has 'too many kids' just throw her in jail? Not to mention we're talking about a married couple, NOT a woman tossing out kids for Welfare benefits. This couple has done nothing illegal or even immoral. It's even CRAZIER that you're a female and making such chauvinistic suggestions. I certainly hope you have no children, and that you never DO have kids.”

“They are far from being 'babies', and they are legally married. Not many women 'keep their legs closed' to their husbands, or if they DO they won't have husbands for long. Yes, they COULD have used BC, but how do you know they DIDN'T, and the BC failed. That isn't exactly a 'rare' occurrence you know. I don't believe how many of you are judging them so harshly when you have no idea what the whole story is. Plus, so many of you are accusing them of being on government assistance when the article clearly states their parents are taking care of them financially. It's just cruel to hurl accusations at them when you don't know whether they're true or false. But, most people feel perfectly entitled to pass judgement on total strangers. That's just wrong.”

“Plus, if they really WANT to go to college they can work hard in high school, get good grades and apply for some of the hundreds of scholarships out there. The kids can also work summers, weekends and even after school and put most of the money in a saving's account for their education. Parents aren't necessarily meant to pay for anything once their kids turn 18. If they CAN, that's great, but it's more important the parents teach 'self sufficiency' while the kids are young. There is NOTHING wrong with putting YOURSELF through college. My father did, as did many people of his generation.”

“My parents had 8 kids including me. None of my other siblings went to college, but still managed to do pretty well out in the world. I was the youngest and only one to attend college. My parents after raising 8 kids didn't have the money for college. They paid for my first year and I had to do what was necessary to finish...taking out loans and getting scholarships when I could. I never expected my parents to pay for college anyways. If people are determined enough, they will find a way to get an education after high school.”

“Really. She left a totally idiotic comment. We had only ONE child, and we still could not/WOULD not pay for an 'ivy college through post doc'. Our daughter DID graduate from a good university and also has a post doc. We paid much of her university expenses, although we DID expect her to work and contribute to her education costs. In fact, a parent who pays for everything will make their children appreciate things less. Learning to pay their own way is an important part of their education. Otherwise you are simply raising another spoilt brat who will feel entitled to having things handed to him/her. My daughter has a great job and earns good money, despite the economy right now. Would she have a better job and be earning more money with a degree from an ivy league college? I seriously doubt it. (And this commenter's education level doesn't seem to be that great. Not only did she run 'preytell' into one word, but it should read *pray tell*. *Prey* is defined as 'An animal hunted and killed by another for food.' So, how can we take her comment seriously?)”

Your comment is among the rudest I've ever read. You are mean, cruel and cold. I guess it's OK though, as you are obviously perfect. However, if you think people shouldn't have children, then how do you propose we avoid becoming extinct? “We have a lot of people in our society who have no way to afford 'healthy' foods. What they CAN afford is the cheapest processed foods. It would help a LOT if the government would subsidize fresh foods for poor people, and offer classes in preparing foods from scratch. Subsidize some equipment such as crock pots and pressure cookers for those who number among 'the working poor'. If the poor could buy a large bag of salad mix for the same price they pay at the dollar store for a jumbo jar of cheese curls, or chicken breasts for the price they get the huge bags of chips at the dollar store...etc. etc., then we would maybe get 'ahead of the game'. As it stands now, too many people have too few options.”
