“Eyepatch

I followed your comments and responses. Spot On my friend! Your right not just a funk band and yes they be will referenced a lot longer than the vast majority of hip hop artists. Lets go further this is a generational band they are among the best bands America has produced you probably would have to go to jazz groups to find musicians that are artistic rivals.

Some notable rock guitarist could be mentioned but the truth is the list is very short indeed when comparing quality and the nature of their impact on American popular music. If we want to put a fine point on it, there are only a handful of British and European bands that could credibly been mentioned in the same sentence when thinking about the best bands of all time.”

“StocktonNEP

Your comments are not too far off the mark, if a bit harsh, and unduly dismissive of David’s analysis. In the end your comments are supported by the analytics. I hope it will not be the last time you read a sports column on HuffPo, David’s column is one of the stronger pieces on sports I have seen on HuffPo precisely because of the use of analytics.

To be clear I am not discounting your general points; the analytics puts a quantitative fine point on your qualitative observations. Your comments about Vinny and Odum were less kind than they needed to be.”

I think you have it right here, Ms. Morrison is a remarkable talent, she bestows honor on any venue she attends, to fds' point the headline while meant to be provocative comes across a bit snarky. In the past the headline editors may have viewed such a headline as beneath both Ms. Morrison and HuffPo perhaps something has changed.

Btw, pecan pie is wonderful!”

Oscars 2011 Worst-Dressed: See Who Left Us Speechless (PHOTOS)

Commented Feb 28, 2011 at 03:57:26 in Style

“Anya:

You know, I realize that fashion is very much a part of the Oscar celebration and the best and worst dressed lists can add to the evening’s entertainment. It occurred to me though that after looking at the women in the dresses that you placed on the worst dressed list that the judgment so missed the mark that the spirit of a worst dressed list may be actually the thing that missed the mark.

How about instead just a best dressed list, a list of 10 is convenient for a variety of reasons I know, but 12 or 15 upon occasion would be fine. Eliminate the worst dressed list altogether. You avoid generating the kind of maudlin Karma that your picks elicited here and the women who make the list shine perhaps more brightly. An idea for your consideration.”

Exactly, this story has all of the trappings of an organized attempt to undermine the largely fine opportunity that for profit colleges provide. Conservatives have begun a campaign to undermine these colleges for less than moral or ethical reasons. I am sure we will continue to see these kinds of articles throughout the media. We should just be aware these articles are agenda driven. This is actually a bit more than just a non-story.”

“You know, these conservative republicans seem to be unaware of how transparent their schemes are it is embarrassing. They are coming off so inept and tone def that their verbal engagements are more anecdotal side swipes than anything note worthy.

Further and this has to be said even though I think it is painfully and I do painfully obvious, particularly on display with Republican leadership in both houses of congress and conservative talk radio;

President Obama is noticeably smarter then these folks which is why they come across so poorly.

In the Bush years the contrast was not nearly as stark.”

“These folks are acting so much like a crime syndicate that they should drop the pretext of being bankers and insurers. The Gov,t in turn should drop the pretext that these are legitimate business run by honorable decent men they obviously are not. With these Vails removed its time to go in and arrest these schemers as criminals and charge them with treason. This step would guarantee victory in the 2010 elections and go along way in helping to curb the behavior of the BofA chairmen and other members of the Lootacracy to which they belong.”

Bipartisanship should take a back seat to intellectually capable people who have a bent towards data and away from ideology.

On one level the idea that the average senator can offer an informed thoughtful opinion based on economic principles and data is a little silly. Many do not have that capacity.

Congress is demonstrating that ideology is a poor substitute for scientifically informed decision making at the expense of the well being of the country.”

Hillary Clinton: Secretary of State

Hillary Clinton: Secretary of State

Commented Nov 13, 2008 at 21:20:00 in Politics

“Transition team: Hillary is extraordinarily talented, however choosing Hillary for this role would be a mistake for many of the same reasons she was not selected as V.P. She certainly could do the job that is not the issue. She wants to be president and will use this appointment to continue to run for the presidency giving her this forum would be a strategic political mistake. She is more valuable to the nation in the senate and as an adhoc advisory.

Also, remember that with Hillary comes Bill. Talented man would be an unavoidable liability if Hillary was given this role. It would be alot like try to heard a couple of cats. The President Elect-has enough to do he does not need to be cleaning up after less Hillary more Bill.

Finally, to put a fine point on it. Both Hillary and Bill have been calculating supporters of the President Elect the last thing he needs is to have someone with divided loyalties in his inner circle of leadership.

No Hillary here - Richardson best choice strategically. Hillary, would be a better choice for a role in a second administration.”

“Arianna:

You have the analysis exactly right, as a Republican all of my adult life it is clear that the ground has shifted significantly and in fact the Party has moved radically away from me. I find myself now without any radical change in personal ideology very comfortalbe with the agenda Barak is focused on.

The key for me is a return to intellectual and thoughtful problem solving instead of shallow narrowly focused policies that benefit the few at the expense of the many.

The new ultra right republican party that exists now was birthed by this nation within a Nation approach to governing. Increasingly I am viewing, the past eight years policies as unamerican and unpatriotic as those on the right have been so vocally accusing the new center of being. Our nation is imperil because of failed ideological leadership.

Oh and for the record the Nation is no longer center right it is center left except left is now center too your point.”
