Why Young Liberals, Like Me, Will Vote Ron Paul

Commented Jan 3, 2012 at 16:29:37 in Politics

“Ron Paul isn't guaranteed to win, although I really really hope he does. I'm in a late state, so I can't do much except spread the word and phone bank ( If Ron Paul loses, and doesn't seek a third party nod, I will be voting Libertarian, and I hope their nominee is former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson, although I will still vote for whomever they nominate. Voting for the lesser of two evils is really wasting your vote!”

GOP Primary Election 2012: Poll Shows Republicans Growing More Satisfied With Presidential Field

“I'm a dissatisfied Republican. Rick Perry's rhetoric in no way shape or form matches his actions or track record. He is simply lying through his teeth to get elected. I'm hoping for free markets in 2012, but Rick Perry's record on doling out subsidies, regulations, and other favors to his corporate buddies and campaign donors is the complete opposite of free market, and I'm glad to see that Wall Street Journal did a story on his crony capitalism/corporatism. Government should not pick winners and losers and should not exist for the benefit of politically connected individuals, groups, unions, or corporations. That is why I am supporting Gary Johnson in 2012, because he is honest, his rhetoric matches his track record and actions as the 2-term (term-limited) Governor of New Mexico, and he is the only one who will balance the budget, end the wars, and protect civil liberties. He's fiscally conservative, and socially liberal. No social conservative religious-right wingnut will win the White House in 2012. Gary Johnson is a religious moderate and believes in evolution. Finally, a rational Republican that is actually a fiscal conservative and isn't just blowing smoke. Gary is the real deal, folks.”

Rick Perry Knocks Evolution Again: 'God Is How We Got Here'

Commented Aug 20, 2011 at 18:40:03 in Politics

“Another example of how Republicans are completely disconnected from reality. The only two sane candidates are Gary Johnson and Ron Paul, although Johnson is more preferable to me at least. Johnson is a religious moderate who believes in evolution. He has been against DADT since before it was 'cool' for Obama and Congress to get on that bandwagon. And even if you don't agree with Johnson's free market principles, you can at least be assured that he is a man of his word, based on his resume as the 2-term Republican Governor of New Mexico, who advocated for the legalization of marijuana while in office. When you vote for Johnson, you know exactly what you're getting. Isn't that the most important thing, given that Obama backstabbed the anti-war left by maintaining the current wars and starting a new one? Gary Johnson is anti-war. And you can be guaranteed he'll show some real leadership, because there is no such thing as a political consequence for Johnson, since he's not a politician. He's an entrepreneur.
