“Indeed. While we're at it, let's make all mothers responsible for those wretched mothers who treat their kids abusively in public, at the grocery store, etc. And let's make all Muslims responsible for the violence perpetrated by Jihadist terrorists, and all of China's billions responsible for the persecution of the Tibetans. Let's smear guilt on anyone and everyone because...entitlement.”

“I must not be imaginative, because I can think of only one reason why so many victimized women want to applaud the protection of perpetrators, and it's not a nice reason.”
“An individual in a society is not responsible for the evil behavior of anyone else in the society. I have nothing to do with the Helter Skelter of Charlie Manson and his followers, and am not responsible for it in any way. Similarly, I am not responsible for any acts of violence committed upon any woman in any way. Period.
My duty as a citizen is to support the legal structures that protect us all, and appropriately stop those who violate our laws. My duty is also to call trained authorities to intervene when I think I see violence being perpetrated.
Now make sure you eat everything on your plate, because third world kids are starving.”

“I agree. To even want to think otherwise is to want to smear guilt around in order to protect perpetrators.”
“Last time I looked, hasidic jews don't control a single state - not even Israel. The vast majority of Israelis are secular, and (for example) being gay is more than tolerated. Tel Aviv is one of the great gay meccas and tourist destinations in the world today.
So...while the beliefs may be similar, the situation is not. Only in Islam is an ancient, barbaric religion allowed to control the lives and destinies of billions of people in dozens of countries.
Only in Islam is hatred of gays enshrined in state law.
Only in Islam is the legal status of women defined as less than a man in state law.
Only in Islam are those who renounce their religion, or who preach and practice some other religion, or no religion at all, at risk of fines, imprisonment and death.
Only in Islam do the vast majority of the adherents believe that Islamic law should be the law of the land all over the world, and that everyone should be subject to it. See the Pew Report on Islam for confirming statistics.
So let's not fall prey to the logical error of false equivalence here.”

“Yes Yes and Yes to your reply. Know that Israel is in a fight for it's life between the ultra orthodox and the modern jews. And if the hasidic's had their way almost all of the sharia law concept and application would be enacted in Israel as there is very little difference between the two.
But the bottom line is both religious ideologies are oppressive in many many ways, but women, gays and non believers are treated with the same contempt. Don't go into the hasidic areas of New York and not expect to get grief, in fact most hasidics use another jew who is outside of their sect as a go between them and the infidel that the deal is being bartered with.”
“Asked why the church is losing the argument on gay marriage, Dolan says it's a tough battle when forces like Hollywood, politicians and "some opinion-molders" are on the other side.
In other news, Pastor Thomas Robb, National Director of the Knights, admitted that white people had also been badly outmarketed by the same "dark" forces of Hollywood, politicians and some "opinion molders".
He pointed out the indisputable fact that Cardinal Dolan doesn't have to contend with having a homosexual takeover of the whole damn country.
"We're really hurtin' something terrible here, folks", he concluded. "If'n the Lord don't make it right, our country's goin' to be deader than a possum that's been run over by a Pope-mobile".”
“There are 1.6 billion Muslims in the world today. Almost all of them live in the sixty countries in which Islam is the official religion of the state. In many of those countries, being something other than a devout Muslim, being gay, being a woman put you at great risk - risk that is codified into the Islamic laws that define governance in those states.
There is no other religion like this in the world, anymore. Christianity used to be like this - before the enlightenment and transition to secular, pluralistic democracy in the West.
All the super-heroes in the Marvel pantheon aren't going to convince us not to fear Islam. Islam, as it currently exists, is fearful, all over the world - just as Christianity, as it used to exist, was fearful.
When Islam goes through the same transition that Christianity has gone through, and gives up its desires and claims to any special secular power and privilege, then there will be no reason to fear Islam anymore.
It's really just that simple.
In the meanwhile. Muslims themselves suffer the most from the barbarism that pervades Islam as a global religion. They suffer greatly in Islamic countries, and they suffer the suspicions of Westerners whose generic fear of Islam as a movement makes them suspicious of individual Muslims who have themselves rejected Islamism - ie Islamic dominionism.
When Islam changes globally, the problem of Islamophobia will disappear.”

“Oh, please. Christianity is still making life hell for people. Just look at the Balkans and Russia, or look at those parts of the US where the "Tea Party" has power...”

“The followers of islam and the hasidic jews share both real estate as well as a religion based on FEAR, INTIMIDATION and CONTROL OF WOMEN and some of their abuses which are mentioned by you and even more ghastly forms of brutality not mentioned.”
