“While I agree with your general argument, if there was a scholarship intended to help a smart and truly underprivileged white youth, the country would point and scream "racism!" at the top of their collective lungs.
If the intention behind these scholarships are to help minorities BECAUSE they are underprivileged, then maybe there should be a few scholarships given out, not based on the color of the applicants skin but on the financial need of the applicant.”

“I disagree. The cycle of black under-education must be broken. After centuries of discrimination against them, it's a little too convenient -- even obtuse -- to say that we should ignore color now. After all, W only managed to get into Yale as a "legacy." Does it really need to be stated that legacies at Yale are 99.99% white?”
