Foods For Vision: 6 Top Picks For Your Eyes

Foods For Vision: 6 Top Picks For Your Eyes

Commented Jun 29, 2012 at 19:00:04 in Healthy Living

“Really? Eggs? Firstly, they feed the chickens flax to even have any sort of significant level omega 3, and to actually meet omega 3 requirements you have have to eat 5 eggs. 1000 mg of cholesterol anyone? The lutein also comes from the feed itself. A tablespoon of spinach has as much lutein as 6 eggs. Fruits and vegetables will help with eye health, a couple nutrients added to eggs do not make this food healthy.”

“Evidence keeps mounting in the case against trans fats. I found this video that lays it out in plain English: http://nutritionfacts.org/videos/good-great-bad-killer-fats/ At the same site, here's a 3-minute roundup of some interesting studies of fruit & vegetable consumption on cognitive function, including one on Swedish twins, one from the Harvard Nurses' Study, and one that found that different foods seem to boost different areas of the brain. Fascinating stuff. http://nutritionfacts.org/videos/constructing-a-cognitive-portfolio/

“Good news about EPA's mercury emissions regulation. Methyl mercury is harming the next generation--specifically, it's lowering our kids' IQs. Thanks to biomagnification in the marine food chain, fish consumption is actually the major route of human exposure to mercury. Here's what Consumer Reports and researchers from Harvard have said about EPA's mercury limit, and IQ: http://nutritionfacts.org/videos/the-effect-of-canned-tuna-on-future-wages/

Cantaloupe Listeria Outbreak Is The Deadliest In A Decade; 16 Dead So Far

Commented Sep 30, 2011 at 16:52:10 in Denver

“It seems every time a vegetables gets infected with e coli or salmonella the media goes crazy, and now Listeria! Don't we realize that the vegetables don't create the disease, its the animals that transfer it to them through manure and dirty living conditions? Over 90% of chickens at stores are infected with e coli or salmonella. According to Dr. Micheal Greger, "Of 17 outbreaks noted during a 25-year period by CDC researchers, 8 were meat, 8 were dairy, and one was from coleslaw made from cabbage contaminated with infected sheep manure."
