Viral Photos Put Sears On The Defensive

Viral Photos Put Sears On The Defensive

“So this guy walks around a local JCP, Sears, and Walmart during there busiest time of year, and he's perplexed as to why the stores seem messy??? Gee, I don't know, maybe because you have an influx of customers tripping over themselves to buy xmas gifts, and the employees paid to work there make scraps?”

Riiiiiight...the Military Industrial Complex that boasts 660 military bases in 38 countries around the world, and spends more money on defense than the next 15 countries combined is afraid that slashes to the military budget will impact our "military readiness". That's laughable!”

“America DOES do this. In fact, we devote an entire day to it...it's called "Veterans Day".

This story is about the passing of an actor who you'll find hard pressed to hear a single negative thing about from the people who knew him. His family, friends, AND fans are allowed to devote whatever time and money they wish towards the causes HE fought for without you or anyone else begrudging their displays of respect for his life or his efforts.”

“-prices increase so no increase in buying power
False...prices don't increase on everything simply because you raise the minimum wage a couple dollars.

-most instances find increased wages doesnt always mean better service
This is anecdotal either way, but it can mean better service as well.

-most are franchises so it affects the owners who are usually not millionaires
The owners will be just fine making a little less. Reserve your concern for those who are struggling, not those who won't notice a difference in their lifestyle.

- the jobs are not meant to be a career so if you are 17 or 18 and have children don't blame burger king
The AVERAGE age of a fast food employee in the US is 29, and they DO have mouths to feed regardless of your judgement on them.”

“Who are you to determine that??? The average age of a fast food employee in this country is 29. That means older people with mouths to feed are being forced to these jobs out of necessity. That's not being a "loser". For many, that's called doing what needs to be done to provide for your family...even if it means swallowing your pride.

In addition, many of these people are on public assistance. Paying them more will increase spending, which is good for the economy and you'll see less of a burden on public assistance programs.”

“Loss of jobs? So McDonald's and BK would be forced to downsize because the minimum wage is increased a couple dollars? Higher costs of goods and services for everyone? Complete hogwash on these points.

"Far exceed?" The only factor that deserves to be labeled as "far exceeds" is the disparity in wealth between what the owners of these business make and the wage slaves they build their fortunes on. Reserve your worry for those who actually merit it. Worry not..."management/execs" can make a little less...they'll be okay.”

“There's no fundamental need for the price to go up on fast food simply because employment costs go up. I'm not advocating for $15/hr and realistically, that won't happen. The idea that an increase to a reasonable wage would, say, eliminate the dollar menu is ridiculous. The owners can deal with making slightly less...don't worry, they'll be just fine.”

“Raising the Minimum Wage

Advantages
- Increases income to the lower class, leading to increased spending which boosts the economy
- Better service as a result of increased employee morale
- Ends the bad publicity
- Doesn't affect the CEO's making 300+ times what these employees are currently making
- Feeds hungry families who are struggling as a result of low income

Disadvantages
- ...
- uh
- it'll come to me
- ......”

n2zyk on Dec 5, 2013 at 16:59:12

“your "advantage" list is BS. I met anyone who gives better service when they get a raise, they still think they are under paid. Yes it MAY increase income to lower class, but fewer of them since a lot will be laid off to pay for the increase in pay, the left never end bad publicity, if they raise the pay it will be something else they should be doing but aren't, I doubt there is an employee in the bunch capable of running the entire company and keeping it profitable, and your final argument ...is the same as your first...some will some will not due to lost jobs.”

kettlethorpe on Dec 5, 2013 at 16:58:28

“Happy to help....disadvantages (continued)
- Loss of jobs
- Higher cost of goods and services (for everyone)
- Cost of labor would far exceed the value provided to the bottom line
- Paradigm on how much management / execs really make would be busted
- Harder for beginners in the work force to find a job (would need skills to match
the $$$ they would be making)
- Would not guarantee that cashiers would be able to make correct change, smile
more or clean up more often”

“For all those who are quick to judge and consider the actions of these two "reckless":

Initial reports suggest that a steering fluid leak lead to this accident. A trail of steering fluid was found leading up to the crash site along with tire marks that appeared paved in a relatively straight line. It's likely that steering fluid caused the RWD Porsche to lose control.

Also, the fire seen in the video of the crash is coming from the front/middle portion of the vehicle as opposed to the rear, where the engine is located in these vehicles. This supports the above theory.

These were two experienced and professional race car drivers who don't deserve to be judged by the uneducated who are incapable of looking beyond simple cliches and faulty logic. I'm certainly a fan of the FF series and will miss seeing Paul Walker do what he was here to do.”

“Not even in the deepest most fearful part of my subconscious could I have imagined a tragedy as sad as Sandy Hook. I thought, surely, that event would HAVE to serve as the catalyst towards some real change on this issue. Surely, just the thought of elementary school-aged children having there small limbs BLOWN OFF would be enough to instill major changes. The fact that it hasn't, and the fact that there are those who still feel we need to flex our constitutional muscles in the form of guns in the hands of all who want them leads me to feel that something worse than Sandy Hook will happen...sadly.”

That starts to play into perspectives as seen by other people and personally I don't know if one should be fired for it. Was it an illegal job? No. Morally questionable? Depends on one's perspective. That is where it runs into issues. Now, would she be a distraction to the vast majority of young teenage boys? Unquestionably.”

“Tracy, you're talking to a single father with full custody of a 2 year-old son whom I love dearly. A lot of gyms have daycare centers to watch your child while you workout. Mine offers that. If not, or if money is tight, you can always workout at home before your child wakes up or after they fall asleep. I never said it would be easy...but it can, has, and will continue to be done by a lot of "everyday moms" out there.

I work with these women daily. They love being fit, and they take motherhood just as seriously as the moms who don't workout. What they DON'T like are the people who assume they have a lot of money, or a nanny, or got surgery, or . I'm not saying it's wrong to look the way the women in this project do...I'm saying that there are plenty of mothers who have gotten their figure back, and they're just as much "everyday moms" as the women in these photos.”
