“Firstly, it is entirely your choice to read what Michelle Obama is wearing. No one is forcing you to read it.
Secondly, perhaps you could be explicit about what he has not done. I follow his accomplishments pretty carefully, after listening to his campaign promises and reading his campaign platform pretty carefully. He has set about to do exactly what he said he would.
He prevented a world banking collapse and consequent depression.
The large banks have reimbursed TARP funds with dividends to the taxpayers.
Healthcare reform has passed both the house and senate for the first time ever.
His policies have turned the economy around, and unemployment (a lagging indicator) started to turn around in November.
The pullout from Iraq. is on target.
There is new focus on Afghanistan, as promised.
He has initiatied the most sweeping environmental initiatives of any president ever, as promised. This is the most important of all his promises kept, as it is the future of America, your future and your children's future.
Guantanamo is on track to be closed down, with delays caused by making sure the inmates face appropriate justice.
That is quite some record for less than a year in office, so heaven knows what you are talking about. Please enlighten us.”

Home Sales November 2009: New Home Sales Down - Is Housing Headed For A Double-Dip?
Commented Jan 06, 2010 at 23:44:55 in Business
“I don't think the housing market will improve at all unless property taxes are lowered.
Where I live, there are many bargains on many wonderful houses, but no one will buy these "bargains" because the property taxes are so high.
Many people can afford to buy the houses--- It's just that they don't want to pay the equivalent of a mortgage payment every month just in taxes.”

“The formula that you describe has NOT worn thin. It is a fact that Christianity brought us George W. Bush. And now look at the shape we are in as a result. That fact alone should be enough to close every Christian church in the nation. People are rejecting Christianity to the same extent that they are rejecting Republicans.”

“Sorry Retrofuturistic - not with you on this one. This is a toxic political climate and even though the Obama Administration is not doing everything the way I want it done I am going to continue to support our President. It is not helpful to our party, Democrats, to draw lines in the sand. It only gives the GOP fuel for their insane fires. Which gets their base fired up - which my totally hurt us in the November elections. Progressives out there - please give this some thought! We have to come out and vote this November, in numbers, like we did to elect Barack. claudiatucsonaz”

Truths for 2010 No One in Politics or Mainstream Media Will Tell You

“I heartily agree with almost everything you said, Mr. Schaeffer, especially with getting the religion out of government (I'd also like to tax churches).
The only things I would change in your wonderful list are:
1. I wouldn't be so hard on the teachers' unions. It seems to me that we need MORE unions to counteract the ravages currently being conducted by big corporations. But I agree with what you said about firing bad teachers and about teacher training.
2. I wouldn't take technology out of schools, because people are going to have to be comfortable with it in our modern world. And, technology-enhanced distance learning has changed the world, especially for women, because now women with young children can still take higher level classes at home on their computers, if necessary.
3. I wouldn't be so hard on the atheists either. It takes a lot of work to get to be an atheist. First, you have to realize how you've been conditioned by your church, your family, and your culture. Then you have to read a lot of books, especially history, to try to find out what really happened. And then you have to consider what are the real motives behind what people have told you to believe. Sometimes learning to think for yourself takes a lifetime. And besides (you mentioned Stalin and Pol Pot), a LOT more damage has been done in the name of Christianity or Judaism or Islam than has ever been done by atheists.”
