“Selling fishing licenses is not new revenue. There are 40 million fishermen in the US. The states have contracted with vendors who dont make money on the licences but the clothing and bait and equipment.
Same with beer and wine. How much booze do you have to ship to get to $100 million, let alone a billion?”
“Yes.The resurrection SHOULD contradict science. Otherwise, it's no miracle...and i think that's the Pope's point. Paul told us that without the resurrection we are fools. Everything hinges on the miracle of the resurrection. And like you say, it stretches the imagination. We call it "wonder".

“"Paul told us that without the resurrection we are fools."
Christianity is full of situations like this, where there's a clear choice between making sense or maintaining the religion. Christianity makes even less sense than other religions. Rather than modify his belief in the light of evidence, the Christian, over and over, denies and distorts all sorts of evidence in order to make it conform with his belief. Christianity is the most powerful and effective antidote to simple common sense I've ever seen.”
--The world doesn't need more do-gooders who believe in nothing.
Who is that?”

“So, it is believing in the resuscitation of a physical body that produces the transformation in believers or, better, followers of Jesus? I beg to disagree. For years, I believed it with no change in my life. Since, however, I have made it my spiritual practice to follow Jesus, apply his teachings to my own life, and so live and love as I see him doing so as portrayed in the Gospels, my life is changing for the better. So, this is for me the meaning of the resurrection.”

“actually, that is exactly what the world DOES need...MORE do-gooders regardless of "belief." it is primarily what we DO that is going to make a difference. "faith without works is dead."”
