“And as one whose ancestors weren't here you are no more deserving of you white privilege, and yet I bet you have used it often”

Clownwhisper on Jun 4, 2014 at 07:18:28

“Please explain what my white privilege is...
My skin is olive colored.
what have I taken advantage of?

Here is what I have been in my life.
Since early teens I grew my hair VERY long.
I got a bunch of tattoo.
I got continuously harassed by the police my whole life even to the point of being brutally attacked.

I was unable to get a job at the big three in detroit while all of my female, and black friends did just that. I grew up in the city so most of my friends were black.

I ended up working on a brick crew 12 hours per day for 8 years as a laborer and for 4 more as a brick layer. My body was so destroyed that I had to stop working. I lived in bed for two years as a result and lived off of my life savings.

Then I taught myself all about computers and got in with a genomics company and worked my way to the top. lived well for 15 years and now I lost everything again due to the fact that Im dying from a rare disorder.

life is been grand, and ohhh the privileges that I have taken advantage of.”

“I have personally known a number of people of color that have worked for Tiffany's, and everyone of them loved the company. That being said I was forewarned to be careful of the store you work in as managers vary, some are nice and others are monsters.”

Joyce Thomas on Jun 2, 2014 at 07:52:55

“How many of these people of color were African American and how many were in management? The alleged issue was the idea of blacks representing the company brand. White Cubans and Asians might not have the same problem.”

Softnsweet on Jun 1, 2014 at 03:38:31

http://www.tadias.com/08/11/2008/queens-spies-and-servants-a-history-of-ethiopian-women-in-military-affairs-2/

Notice that the women have been fighting since the 15th cenutry and as military they were entitled to property. There is a wealth of information out there about women and the role they played beyond staying home and birthing babies, sorry to say but that is a white male lie to enforce women as beneath men.”

“You don't have to be concerned, but you are being judged and have the nerve to get upset over it, that watch clearly doesn't convey power, it conveys being duped. Also $1500 for a watch is nice but in the world of high end it is a gumball.”

lmclaurin on May 31, 2014 at 08:56:21

“Do you see my constant references to the $1500 watch as semi-expensive? Furthermore, duped implies you were tricked. I knew what I was buying and what I could afford. You simply have not gotten that nobody was "judged" over a watch. You seem to be unable to disconnect the watch from the scenarios for some very strange reason. You seem to not understand that in neither situation, nobody knew anything about this watch. You then argue that $1500 watch is too expensive and really not that expensive at the same time?

Reading comprehension has taken a dive in this country.”

“You called it racist not me, and the fact that you can't fathom a history before what whites claim as such is racist in and of itself. Your comments mentioned you don't know (or believe) in a time when women were revered most who would make that comment would be ignorant (often by choice) of other cultures. I saw the picture and to me it fits, whites tend to have a defined timeline of history and anything that goes against it must be wrong.”

To me the biggest problem isn't a black college student who takes awhile to find a job. It would be the chronically unemployed individual who can't read, and doesn't even have a chance to be productive in society!!!”

Single-parent households can be disadvantaged but no guarantee, I was raised by a single father and my brother and I both are successes in life (not by huge margin, but we certainly aren't poor). Funny you made the claim about 2 incomes are many (especially conservatives) believe a woman needs to stay at home, and to build a family unit that is strong takes both sides, not just blaming single mothers”
