“I agree with you completely. This is nothing new though. We as a society all know that certain clothing and the way you carry yourself can make you a target. Perhaps we should let our kids know, If you want to be respected, then carry yourself with respect. This 17 yr old was still in school and living with his parents. They lived in a neighborhood where crime had become such an issue that they had to start a neighborhood watch group. WHY would you allow your child to walk to the store, alone, at night, dressed like thug, in a neighborhood where crime is often and recent knowing that there is someone keeping a lookout? Common sense people. He should've been home. The skittles were not that important.”

“Real classy..........Dad's girlfriend lived there not the parent's and this is no way shape or form the parent's fault. A thug for what a hoodie? How many kid's do you have? How many hoodie's do you own? That BOY had every right to walk to the store to buy whatever the hell he wanted! Maybe I took your post wrong but it seems your blaming the parent's and the child! If I am wrong I apologize! This boy is dead for a sensless reason his parent's are beyond grief stricken and all anyone wants to talk about is race and hate. All I can think about is a child lost his life many, many years too soon!”

“So wearing a jacket with a hood is dressing like a hug? All colors, ages, gender wear jackets and jogging tops with hoods, so is everyone a hug?”

“Hey. I'm all for guns too. If you pass a criminal background check and have your CHL. Zimmerman already had a criminal past therefore, HE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN IN POSSESSION OF A WEAPON. I'm not a gun hater. Not by a long shot. I'm working on getting my CHL right now. I love them. I plan on carrying one. BUT, I'm not in the system. I've never commited a crime. I have a clean past. They run these checks for a reason.”

“I agree with you. It does matter. I don't believe that the neighborhood watch guy should be carrying a weapon. He should have just called the police and left it at that BUT playing the "Race Card" is exactly whats happening here. I don't give a s*** if you are white, black, brown, yellow, or green...if you are roaming around my neighborhood with a hoodie covering your face, the you WILL look suspicious in my book.”

“I carry a weapon with me when I go out to the store. That's my right. If I did something far riskier like be involved in a neighborhood watch, you better bet I'd have a weapon too. Who are you to say you don't believe he should be carrying a weapon? This is the US, people can carry weapons here if they want.
The question here is simple. Did Martin attack Zimmerman? If Marin attacked Zimmerman, then Zimmerman was justified in defending himself.
If Zimmerman found himself physically outclassed by Martin he doesn't legally have to take a beating and potentially die just because Martin is unarmed. I'd have defended myself too in such a situation.”
