“Have not seen one example of Obamacare lowering anyone's premiums, and many examples of Obamacare dramatically increasing premiums...”

“No, what destroyed the GOP is moving towards embracing big government and increased spending. Reagan tried to reverse the trend, and the Republicans saw some of their greatest glory then. Sadly, the Bushes did not fulfill their potential to do the same. Individual liberty and less government should be the guiding principle of the Republican party. The GOP should be the party advocating against ANY expansion of government, and advocating for shrinking what we do have. The opposite of that - the Democratic push for statism.”

“McCain is a RINO - Republican in Name Only - his positions have been to pretty much agree with whatever the Democrats want”

“What a colossally asinine statement that is, in addition to being the primary reason the GOP is domed to the pages of future history books. You don't win elections by ostracizing anyone you don't agree 100% with, because in a Democracy majority rules.

You sir brazenly display the mentality which destroyed my Grandpa's beloved GOP; so congrats on that.”

“WA state they are counting sales and excise tax on businesses as being applied to individuals, which is incorrect. They also have property tax listed on all, but I doubt the poorest own homes or other taxed property. There are many flaws in this report - I just pointed out a couple of them.”

“Using the most welfare - what does that mean? Most people on welfare, most welfare per capita, highest welfare benefits - what? Are you talking about state benefits or federal?”

“This is bogus - Washington State has a sales tax rate (state and local) under 10%. No income tax, so how can they be taxing the poor at a 20% rate?”

Quantril123 on Jan 31, 2013 at 15:38:18

“The most sales tax that you'll pay in Washington is if you live in King County(Seattle and it's suburbs). You'll pay around 9.25%. And that's everybody on everything.”

redonthehead on Jan 31, 2013 at 14:59:19

“You're really surprised that HP published a class warfare hit piece? Remember where you are. Income taxes in Pennsylvania are flat, sales tax is flat, pretty sure that a property owner that owns a million dollar house pays more direct property tax than the poor renter's indirect tax. This kind of thing is nonsense.”

“Geitner's statement reworked: Why does it make sense for the country to force tax increases on all Americans, because Democrats want to increase tax rates for 2 percent of Americans, why does that make any sense? There's no reason why it should happen.”
