“I as a fifty year old white woman raised in the north and living in the south for the past thirty-four years find Sarah Palin 'offensive' to our female gender because in 'my mind' our country's first female president should have a high intelligence level, a lifetime of striving for perfection regarding the knowledge of issues foreign & domestic and the workings of our government - in Palin I find nothing that reflects my beliefs. My initial opinion of her was very negative when I heard the hateful speech she gave at the 2008 GOP Convention .- I still to this day believe that she owes Obama, community organizers, and the American public an apology for the hate speech that she spewed that day. I am grateful for the disastrous interviews Palin gave with Katie Couric & Charlie Gibson, and the Tina Fey parodies.
I am saddened that Tim Russert was not still alive last year in order to have Palin on Meet The Press so that he could have interviewed Palin and exposed her as being the MOST UNQUALIFIED VP candidate in U.S. history.”

“I agree. I commented here on HuffPo a day or two ago on another thread. I said that I really believe that Palin came out with her 'sexism' comment regarding the Newsweek cover in order to take the focus off of the fact that she was abusing and disrespecting the U.S. Flag. I have heard this issue mention once or twice on MSNBC but only as a side comment since the focus has been on Palin's sexism comment.
I hope you get the word out to your fellow military friends that even us regular Americans out here find that the way she had the U.S. Flag displayed is disgusting. The photo was taken for a 'runners magazine' and THEY probably did not know the rules of how to display the flag, but The Governor should have known and probably did know!
Palin is going to be at Fort Hood December 4th, I hope the military folks there say something to her about the flag on that cover.
Thank you for your service to our country :)”

“I would like to know when going to Harvard or Yale or any other respectable university to obtain a much sought after degree became a thing of ridicule and is equivalent to having the word ELITE on your forehead? Do the republicans want candidates that are community college graduates?
I want anyone that runs for president to be smarter than I am.
I want my president to be intelligent enough to do the hard job of running this country while I am at home sipping on my rum and coke, I don't want a beer with him.
I want a presidential candidate to be able to answer easy questions like 'What newspapers do you read?", questions like that show what type of intellectual curiosity a person has. If a person reads the Financial Times and the WSJ as opposed to only the Christian Monitor -- it tells a lot about the person! If you are republican and have never heard of the 'Bush Doctrine' then you are too dumb to be president of even the local school board!
I want an educated America even if we have to pay more taxes for better teachers in our school system! It scares me that most voters don't know the candidate stances on the political issues and know don't even understand most of the issues!

“I agree with you. In my opinion the Right screams about liberalism destroying this country because many of the universities and colleges are supposedly "too left wing". I believe that many on the Right do not want their "base" to be educated, because that would make them informed about the issues and infomed and educated is the last thing the Right wants.
So the word elite and liberal have been defined as one word now by the Right. The word liberal, used in any context by the Right, is to promote fear to their base.
It seems that many on the Right are content to be followers instead of leaders.”

“If you have a Walmart in your area you might want to check out their Turkeys. I picked up a 14 pound turkey yesterday for $5.29
I'm going to go back and get one more to put in the freezer, then later I'll probably cut one up (like a chicken) and throw it on the grill and get several meals out of it:
1) BBQ'ed legs and wings
2) Sliced turkey breast meat with gravy and veggies
3) Chopped breast meat with gravy on open faced sandwiches
4) Turkey soup made with the extra pieces and bones
A five dollar turkey can really be a cheap way to eat.
I hope you have a great Thanksgiving with your 'family' that is what counts in the end :)”

Christians and Jews are not finding his policies about Israel or favorable hugs and kisses with Muslims to be good policy. SEIU head is the most popular visitor in the White House. Transparency is not happening as he promised. Tax cheats and lobbyists run the White House halls. BIlls are passed without review of the American people. He made an immediate reaction without the facts about Cambridge, but is full of caution about Ft Hood. Terrorists are now read their Miranda rights. Health care reform (needed) has turned into Health Care Overhaul. Taxpayers and consumers are being pinched more than ever. “The cost of an abortion is LESS than most insurance deductibles.
The WOMAN can pay for the abortion 'out of her own pocket'.
We won the 'right to have an abortion'
No one ever promised women that abortions would be paid for by the government, tax-payer dollars, federal subsidies, or insurance companies.
We need to get this HCR bill passed and not delay it over a trumpted up issue that has NOTHING to do with THE RIGHT TO HAVE AN ABORTION.
Stupak affects INSURANCE COVERAGE not the 'rights of women'.”

Women are still free to take 'their own money' and have as many abortions as they see fit.
Women do NOT have the 'right' to have insurance companies pay for their abortions and then distribute the cost to other insurance policy holder 'IN THE PUBLIC OPTION EXCHANGE'.
This whole dust-up is NOT an abortion rights issue - this is an INSURANCE COVERAGE ISSUE.
Abortions should not be paid for by tax-payer dollars or by federal subsidies.
