“New York City is an over-priced slum. Lived here my whole life, so I know. This is another example of rich people playing fast and loose with their money, indulging in romantic notions of what it would mean to own the place, who probably will never sleep a full night there (and if they do, will only stay a year or two before they sell the place again), and who are driving up real estate prices in general and making it impossible for the "average" citizen to survive. My job is not transferable to another state or I would leave in a heartbeat. Ever notice how many grown adults are living with 3 or 4 roommates in New York City?”

“Move to another, cheaper, borough, then. You can commute to Manhattan just like millions of other New Yorkers do.”

“if you dislike the city so much than perhaps you should consider changing careers. People leave the city every day for perhaps a lower paycheck, but better quality of life. There is something you are not disclosing here.”

“what kind of "job" is not transferable? why couldn't you get another job? Or better yet - imagine yourself a speck on the wall of a beautiful planet called NYC. Observe and enjoy. where you see slum - instead look for art in the cement, stone, brick and tiny ivy crawling up the walls.why not take a vaca in your mind each time you walk the streets or take the subway...try burning your candle at both ends.”

“She may have single-handedly forever changed the way the world looks at "senior citizens". That's like moving the earth on its axis. I wish I could personally tell her what a hero she is. I'm only 44 and yet I've been thinking about my own mortality lately, missing the forest for the trees.”
