“It wasn't that many years ago that insurance companies wouldn't pay for women giving birth because it wasn't "a disease"...curious as to whether P.Heaton used a mid-wife or if she refused insurance on the grounds that the public shouldn't pay via insurance. Women have always had to fight for medical rights and yes, as a prescription, contraceptives are a medical right.”
“Has anyone actually listened to what Ms. Fluke said? She did not mention herself once but was relating the story of how a friend lost an ovary due to her inability to pay for $200+ for birth control
There's been no mention of removing Viagra, Cialis, etc. or Ritalin (for aging skin..possibly for aging actresses) etc. with less health benefits than contraceptive pills.”

“That the ins. co's pay for ED medications is the real kicker. There's no REAL medical benefit to taking these ED meds. For Birth Control, there are medical benefits for some. And it's not 'just' for women to behave promiscuously. Why is there even a double standard? And why are people still insisting that if insurance covers BC, that THEY PERSONALLY will be 'paying' for it? Do people not have a problem 'paying' for men's ED meds? Then why would they have a problem 'paying' for BC? This double standard... it's perplexing to any sane person.”

“Who cares what she said... she was a political plant and nothing more. No valve in what she had to say. So tired of even hearing her name. Her 10 minutes of fame need to be over now! If you what sex... pay for it yourself!”
“At 69 and 70 my husband and I ( and close friends) are all experiencing. this role reversal. While it can be annoying at times, we do see it as a gesture of loving concern...however, with adult children with grade schoolers of their own...they tend to lump us in with that age group and that can be irritating,
I sometimes have the uncomfortable feeling that any misstep or word I've forgotten is taken as the onset of senility, dementia....what have you, without their considering that no one at any age is is 100% perfect all the time, including themselves.
When our daughter was in college, she said one of her friends asked her if her parents were in their bird-watching phase (which we were.. ;)...)..... I think many of our 40 something kids are now in their "old bird" watching phase. A sense of humour helps!”
“I want to be the 199th fan of this person for the objective and intelligent way in which he/she presented the facts...however, a forerunner of Rush who would make me seeth with indignation over his half-lies and innuendo was Paul Harvey”

“Thanks VermontCountryGirl. You're fight about Paul Harvey. But at least he wasn't broadcast more than a few minutes a day.
All of us rational and reasonable people must finally make a stand against this plague of hate, and bring our nation back to a place of reasonable unity where we can have different opinions but be able to express them without rage. And I see the best place to begin turning this around is to reject all rigid and obstinate candidates at all levels of government this coming election.
The right at this time is celebrating the victory of another fire breathing tea party candidate for Senate from Texas -- Ted Cruz. He won over a more moderate Repub. This is just what we don't need.”
