“I work at a small liberal arts college (not faculty) and often hear griping about the expense of textbooks. I also see students buying $5 lattes, $16 pizzas and drinking alcohol on a daily basis. I see the expensive smart phones they carry, and I hear many speak of going on expensive spring break vacations. What are their priorities?”
“Can amnesty even be granted by a federal agency? Doesn't the power to grant amnesty rest in the judicial system, or in some cases, the legislative branch? What am I missing here? Does the NSA have it's own court system?”
“Right! So easier access to more guns is the answer? Good idea!”

“Right! So depriving law abiding citizens the option of being able to protect themselves is the answer? Good idea, criminals LOVE that option. It's so much easier robbing and killing defenseless victims.”
“So your point is that this whole situation would have a better outcome if the shooter had more access to more weapons? That is your point isn't it? because for a moment there I thought you were saying how much better the US is than France in regards to shootings.”
“A simple observation: any story related to gun violence anywhere in world, brings out droves of the # 2 lovers frothing about gun control and how it ineffectual they are. They invariably omit/neglect a key point. Would the shooting had been more horrific if unrestricted access to firearms was the law of the land?”

“It also brings out more of the poorly informed gun haters who claim that there would be no crime if only the US had effective gun control.
They invariably omit and neglect multiple significant factual pieces of information.
Such as the fact that the rate of crime is higher in most of the countries that have gun control or the fact that gun control is not crime control.
They also ALWAYS omit the FACT that the US shootings occur in "Gun-Free Zones" where there won't be any armed resistance.
Most importantly, those gun haters omit the FACT that the Second Amendment is, to quote Speaker Boehner, "the law of the land."”

“You know ZERO about firearms. Your comment about unrestricted access to firearms is BS like the rest of your post. Current laws in the US prohibit firearm purchases by:
2. Illegal Aliens
3. Convicted Felons
4. Convicted Drug and Alcohol Abusers
5. Mentally Insane
6. People under protective orders”

“And it brings out droves of the anti-gunners trying to explain how it could happen even with their magic gun control. They invariable omit/neglect a key point. Criminals will always find a way to get firearms, and do illegal things.”

“Good thing he didn't use gasoline! Many more would have died.”

“Well, let's have a little balance here. Any story about a shooting brings out droves of gun controlist freaks frothing about how guns are the problem instead of people. These folks invariably ignore a key point. We know the direct impacts of controlist thinking in this country, from a number of state- and city-level examples like this one:
“Re-read this short article, sit back and think for just a few moments. How is the outcome of this story any different from last the 30 or so mass shootings in the US? Any equivalencies? Then try to make a relevant point that doesn't attempt to score invalid political points. Thank you.”

“Because he gets to use force in defense of his life and property IF he has a reasonable fear.
At least a few elements of the reporting lead me to believe HE might have reasonably feared for his safety. A more complete airing of facts, including HIS testimony will shed more light.
I am open to changing my mind, but initially, I side with the homeowner.”
