Keith Olbermann SUSPENDED From MSNBC Indefinitely Without Pay

Commented Nov 8, 2010 at 20:41:31 in Media

“Since when does your employer have the power to tell you who to vote for? It is not in our U.S. Constitution, nor should it be in any law book. That is what Democracy is all about; to be able to voice your choice behind the curtain at the ballot box. It is every Americans' right to vote his/her conscience! MSNBC is wrong in its attitude and action. Now let me not buy the products on MSNBC; how would they like that vote??”

justplainfedup on Nov 8, 2010 at 21:53:40

“Oh, yawn. MSNBC had no rule regarding voting. How Keith voted is not in question here. Do try to read for comprehension.

That said:

Limits on political expression are entirely common. You have no clue of what you write.

The rules at NPR are typical:

1. NPR journalists may not run for office, endorse candidates or otherwise engage in politics. Since contributions to candidates are part of the public record, NPR journalists may not contribute to political campaigns, as doing so would call into question a journalist's impartiality.

2. NPR journalists may not participate in marches and rallies involving causes or issues that NPR covers, nor should they sign petitions or otherwise lend their name to such causes, or contribute money to them.

Try to grasp this: if a potential employer tells you that, as a condition of employment, that you will do or not do a certain thing, and you agree to that condition and take the job, then you have willfully signed away your rights.

Now, it is incumbent upon the employer to have a legitimate interest in restricting you. Read closely the citation of the NPR rules above, and get back to me.”

But she tried to save her political chances by kicking the Maid to the curb. Who knows? Maybe Meg listened to bad political advice from some strategist. When I think of the many scholarships she could have given out to students of all ages across the political spectrum. What a waste! Same thing with Carly; if she had helped the employees or laid off fewer numbers folks at HP, or at least tried to help them get other jobs, a whole lot of people would have at least seen Carly in a better light; but to lay off tens of thousands and then taken off with millions of bucks..
Why would I hire the person who kicked me out of my job? Duh!”

Abortion Trauma: The Myth

Commented Oct 30, 2010 at 15:31:20 in Home

“Hi!
You know maybe some women who get abortions cry and some don't; but the people who never cry are the men who get them pregnant. Most of the fellows I have ever met (I am a fellow, aged 67) have given the reply, "If she gets pregnant, that's her problem." It is a very unjust attitude, but this is the way 95% of men think. I never had that attitude, but it turned out that I never had children anyway.
What is Really needed is a kind of pill, or liquid that will render a mans' sperm harmless;
"a love potion" that shoots blanks!" Good for the girl, good for the boy, good for society!
Peace!

LeftRight on Nov 1, 2010 at 08:16:14

“I agree with much of what you say because I've seen that attitude among many men who failed at their basic responsibilities as men.

Where I disagree with you is your assertion that 95% of men share that view. Not only do I not share it, but the VAST majority of men I've met don't have that view! There are some, of course, but it's a minority of what I've seen.”

What is the plan to insure that your son or daughter goes to college without having to lose the whole family's income & savings? Stuff like that. What is the Plan? Democrats, Repubs, Tea Party, Greens? What is the Plan?”

America In The Twilight Zone: I Can't Believe We Are Even Discussing This

Commented Aug 17, 2010 at 02:13:47 in Politics

“To those who protest the building of the Mosque I suggest we remember why the original English colonists came to America's shores; it was not necessarily for land or goods, but for the right to pray and attend religious services without being arrested and placed in prison. In short, they were looking for religious freedom. How can we forbid a group who wants to build a church in any location in our country? What Americans can do is allow the mosque to be built in New York City and then watch what is being preached and taught. If the doctrines are so hateful and anti-American, anti-human anti-women, then Muslims of good conscience may remove the hate mongers in favor of good and kind people of conscience. Not all Muslims are monsters and not all Christians really follow Jesus.

Dr. Laura's N-Word Rant: Radio Host Apologizes For Offensive Language (AUDIO)

Commented Aug 14, 2010 at 04:16:12 in Media

“Hi!
I have question. When did the "N" word actually begin? Did it begin when white people began kidnapping black people to work in the plantations and other places throughout the world?
And I suppose the white slave traders used the word to demean the kidnapped people into thinking that they were not worthy of being called human beings; white people used the word to convince themselves that the African peoples were unworthy of being treated with respect.
Every human being regardless of color or national origin deserves respect and kindness. Every human being is a product, an individual creation from the Mind of the Creator.
Friends, before you explode in some kind of hate thought, say a little prayer to the Ultimate:
"Give me patience and understanding Before I make a fool of myself, or Before I hurt someone else!"
Through the ages, prophets and seers and wisemen/women have come into contact with the Infinite; it is an Explosion of Light! It sparkles and is effervescent! In trying to express to their neighbors what they saw/experienced they said, "it was a Being of Light". This is how I think the concept of holiness and white got together.

No westerners should leave Afghanistan and allow it to develop all by itself. the only ones who can change their society are the people themselves. the ladies in that society have to be angrier than afraid. Perhaps the problem lies in the common perception of the 3 major religions; Judiasm, Christianity, and Islam. How do followers refer to God? Most of us refer to God in the male gender; He & Him. Why do we do that? God is both Mother and Father. Yin-Yang.
Since God is all-Powerful, and if it is just Male, then what does IT need a Female energy for?

Remember guys; 1000 years ago, European Crusaders went to Jerusalem to "rescue" the city from the Jews and Moslems. The plan was to seize the territory because it was the spot between Europe and the Far East. The Crusaders were using religion as an excuse to hide their true purpose.
This is how the Afghanistani people view it. These guys are 11th Century people with modern weapons. So let's just get out of there, and leave them for another 1000 years.”

“If you actually study history you will see the development of Xianity is b/t 2 thousand or so years behind the development of Judaism. As they are all three Abrahamic religions they share a common impetus; ie the ruckus over Abraham's first born (Ishmail->>said to be the paternal link to Islam, but born of his servant) and his first son with his wife. *This created tension between the "law of the land" and what "Gd wanted". Ishmail was exiled and wondered the dessert with his family far more than 40 d & n all while J & C began to erupt in clashes. It was about 600 years after the Cs and the Js culminated in crucifixions, all the way to Inquisitions that Islam began to take root after the Bedouin nomads brought it to the burgeoning metropolises. Now 2K years later, Js and Cs are working together to put Ms in their place. It is the same argument having been had for 2-3 millennium. It is a family dispute. My estimation is give them 200 years and they will not only appreciate their common ancestry but will join together to bully someone else. Read the history folks. It is all in the Bible and Q'ran.

How would you like a job where you are handling thousands of lives in the air everyday with little or no relief? they wanted the government to either hire a few more workers or to simply give them more relief time.
One thing that Reagan did that really pissed me off was he removed all county government workers off of the Social Security savings program. I am 67 now and and receive a little over $200. a month. A few years ago, I heard on the Los Angeles listener-sponsored radio station (KPFK) that in the 1990's the U.S. Agriculture Department had dumped tons and tons of corn onto the Mexican Market and therby creating a financial collapse of the Mexican agricultural economy. Does anyone know if this is true? If it is ,then we can understand why so many undocumented immigrants came to the U.S.-they were just looking for a job to feed their families. So maybe we did cause this influx through damaging someone elses' economy.
Still, I am for going after businesses that hire the illegal immigrants. It is not fair to just go after the undocumented aliens; and by the way, not all of them are just from Latin America; they come from all over the world.
