“The way that I see it is that Mayor Bloomberg is trying to cut everything that has to do with education. First our transportation (MTA), then schools and teachers, and now the libraries. Everything else that doesn't have anything to do with education isn't even mentioned.”
“i agree obama might be against coal miners because you risk your life everyday, he probably wont be against it for our benefits probably for his ! althought this was a good call out we shouldnt forget that he also promises so many things that are out of his league or that he just wont have enough time in the time he has left 2 fix because hes off fixinq "BIGGER problems"”
“wow University Heights H.S did this already. its amazing how much attention a wealthy community can recive for wanting even better things. as for us who live in poor communities and did way more got certain attentions but got left waiting. i have no clue on what the system and obama & every other politician have around the corner for , but we must fight and not give up, put in the effort and do something affective because we are the future with no us there is no them and we must never forget this we put them in the position of power that they are well then god damnit we all need to MAD UP and take advantage what ever means nessacery. when we finally unit as one hole community you shall all see victory will be ours in everyway possible !”
“i currently attend UHHS and i find this crazy how they move meetings all the way to Staten island thinking we dont have the balls, motivation , or perseverance to show up. im am proud to say that i am part of my school beacuse we are a family , a team and stick together threw thick and thin. The fight isnt over, untill its over and trust when i say we wont stop fighting, so expect to SEE US ALL proudly protesting in our PURPLE SHIRTS.”
“Dr. Alan Singer is completely right, instead of depending on everyone else to help save our school, we the students need to take a much bigger approach and start lending our hands in this whole situation. The Parents and Teachers can only do so much for us and they need our support as well.
Instead of having like 20 people showing up to those Brothers and Sister meetings/protests we need all 450+ students in this school to show up and give support, like the meeting we had in BCC's auditorium. That was a huge step, as if it was a full blown attack saying "we are aware of whats happening and we do not approve"
If we can get that same response to every meeting and/or protest that goes on, then people will realize this school is elite even though it is a public school, that our kids actually have enough knowledge to not let them walk all over us.
