“Obviously the GOP continues to refuse to budge on any issue that might make Obama look good. So maybe he should turn over dealing with Congress to Biden. For three reasons: Maybe the GOP might budge on some issues if they were dealing with a white guy, maybe he has better connections with Congress and his old cronies, maybe it would give him a chance to show whether he should be the nominee in 2016 since he will otherwise not be able to get attention from a press convinced it's Hillary's nomination (which may well be). If he succeeds with Congress we all win and have a real race in 2016.”
“I watch movies on Netflix because it's the closest thing to really watching a movie at home w/o all the negatives, like commercials, noisy cinema goers, cell phone interruptions. But cutting off the credits is like watching a movie on regular Tv where they start advertising something the second the movie ends and you miss all the credits because they fade into the back ground or get cut off. Not even time for a bathroom break or to take out the dog before another movie (unselected by me) starts. Then it will keep coming up on my Netflix account as one I never finished, more distraction from Netflix.
This is another of the string of mistakes Netflix has made in the last couple of years, doing things w/o asking or considering the subscribers (and I say that as a long time loyal viewer) . make the changes now that viewers want. I recently bought a Smart TV but may just continue to watch DVDs only.”
“Love it when ideologues like Ryan oppose government help for people, like government help for the Midwestern wind turbine industry and power generation which accounts for 7,000 jobs in Iowa alone, but love that federal money when the voters in their district are the ones whose jobs are subsidized. Bunch of YIMBYs, YES in My Back Yard when it comes to pork.”
“You're reading too much media. Everyday life is nothing like the media portrays it. Here Americans are led to believe by the same media that South America is overrun with drug gamgs and you will be shot or kidnapped the minute you land and the corrupt police will work against your interests. Europe is overrun with pickpockets and petty thieves, Muslim extremists and rioting socialist/anarchists and don't even step off the plane in Asia or you will be drugged, have an organ or two removed for sale in the black market or sold into the sex trade. Reality is not what sells newspapers, tabloid media like Huff Post or cable news. It's like 1984 Orwellian disinformation and DoubleSpeak. Many millions of us lead our daily lives w/o incident.”
“My daughter, who is very olive skinned and has a Middle eastern sunding name, for the last 10 years has had pacemakers and an ICD but has never had problems with TSA. She tells them she needs special screening and they check her fairly quickly. She is always seen at the side because she can not go thru the metal detector with the ICD/pacemaker because the magnetism could affect her pacing, could reprogram her pacemaker, set off the ICD or even turn off the device. Although she is able to walk thru the new xray devices.”
“Well at least nobody yelled "You Lie". I don't think they should have booed him, although using the term ObamaCare in the setting could be taken as offensive as if he said You People". I think they should have chanted back "ROMNEYCARE, ROMNETCARE...." until he acknowledged it.”
“A 4 foot chain link fence is useless to keep out children, drunk teens and animals. My Midwest township required that we have a 6 foot solid (i.e. wood panel, stone..) fence around my pool. Chain link is too easy to climb or jump over. This should not have happened.
I understand children wander out, i once had a barefoot 3 year old show up at our front door alone during a dark early afternoon blizzard because she thought her mother was visiting us. She had snuck away from home by going thru the garage. But proper zoing would have kept them out of the pool and a pool alarm would have helped (an inexpensive device that sounds when something breaks the water surface when you are not there)”
“And here I was finally being convinced that he was not Italian or Portugese or Spanish but Norwegian and Swedish Viking with a mix of Asian and African thrown in, and they change the story again. Oy who can keep up with history.”
“This is an example as to why there should be an age limit fior the show. Every year there is at least one awkward situation where a young child gets upset over being dropped out. Some barely seem to understand what is going on. have a separate show for youngsters without these hurtful penalties.”

“I have said that for the last few years...about age limits.”

“I think the age limit should be at least 16 years old on all these televised singing/talent shows. Rachel Crow on X-Factor got so hysterical when she was eliminated, she started screaming then fell to the floor sobbing. I think she was 13.”
“Mitt has fallen for the bait and gotten into a discussion he can't win. Every minute spent talking about the killing of Bin Laden is a minute people are reminded of what Obama had the guts to do and once agin we get to hear Mitt's statement that he didn't think it was worth the cost. It's also time that the focus gets moved off of the economy, Mitt's maybe best issue. last week the focus was on student loan rates, this week Bin Laden. Watch for the DNC to come up with an issue of the week to keep Mitt focused on side issues.”

“you can expect more of this...crying "don't say that about me, or I am going to tell one of my millionaire friends who own guns"”

“The DNC will be very busy attempting to distract and divert attention from the daily blunderings of a failed President, who is now apparently a failed mind reader as well.”
“sounds like the woman who ticketed my cop in our driveway. We had been having trouble with a high school kid down the end of the block who was speeding dangerously down the street every day. My son happened to come home from work just when she was sitting there waiting for the speeder. Although he never rushes down this street to the stop sign and then the turn into our street, she followed him. Once she saw he lived in the street, she figured he must be the one we complained about and wrote him a ticket after he pulled into our driveway. Not long after Speedy ripped down the street as usual, but she was not there to stop him because she thought she had done her duty.”
“I was once leaving a football game from drexel Stadium in West Philly and traffic was backed down the main street leading out because the short red light did not let many cars make a left turn into an otherwise fairly empty bigger street. Finally the cars realized that is they went down the small street nearby the wrong way, they could avoid the light and easily make the left hand turn a half block away. The small street was deserted so there was no danger going down it. Unfortunately a cop realized he could write masses of tickets by sitting at the corner and stopping 2or 3 of the cars coming down. Rather than helping clear the jam at the light, he sat there and made his quota for the next couple of months.”
“Photo tcikets are usually not written against the driver so you don't have to be served in person as a driving offense, which it is not. They are written against the vehicle and the vehicle's owner no matter who was driving, You can get it later, just like theyy can leave a parking ticket on your vehicle. Check you r area to see how they can enforce it, they may suspend the vehicle registration.”
“I got a ticket a few miles after entering Ohio a few years ago for driving at the same speed as all the Ohio drivers (my registration was from another Midwest state). There was no way I was going to waste the money and time to go back and argue the ticket, which would have required a many hour drive and spending a night or two in a hotel. MY request to appeal the ticket by brief was denied because the local court said I had to appear in person inorder to make an argument. So they had a great gimmick going, give tickets to out of state drivers ( I saw 4 other non-Ohio cars stopped before we drove out of Ohio) knowing that they won't be able to appeal, increase state revenue but don't take money away from Ohians or get the locals pissed off. Since then I've been told by other Ohians that the state troopers in Ohio randomly stop cars so you never know when it might be you and for what reason.”
“If her career choice was to be a stay at home mother that is fine and she can advise Mitt on the issues facing stay at home mothers. But she has never spent a day in competitive employment earning a salary while working for someone else and trying to survive in the employment market. She never had to worry about being laid off, losing her retirement plan, being outsourced.... So she has no business advising Mitt on issues that face women.who work in the competitive economy.”
“AS Rosen meant to say: Ann Romney who has supposedly advised Mitt on financial and women's issues, NEVER EARNED A DAY'S SALARY IN COMPRETITIVE EMPLOYMENT OR SPENT A DAY AS AN EMPLOYEE OF SOMEONE ELSE. So what is her source of reliable information other than what she hears from people at meetings, much like Bachman's knowledge of the effects of children's vaccines learned in market lines.”
“you are so right. Look up and airfare and then for the next year you will be getting emails trying to sell you car rentals and hotel rooms in tht city, as well as every minor change in the airfares there. Why do they assume I want to go back to the same place over and over once I've been there? Somebody probably gets paid a lot for this useless software. I'm tempted some days to randomly look at expensive websites just to throw their tracking software off and give myself a great looking profile.”
“The Netflix recommends are a total waste of time for the most part. Watch a movie that happens to have a Martian character in it and get referrals to every martian based movie ever made. I've even sent their "if you liked A, you'll like B' recommends to friends to see if they could figure out the connection between the movies. Could turn it into a party game.
Anyway I choose my movies by looking at what Rotten Tomatoes gives good ratings to, see if I'm interested in the plot, and then list it on my Netflix queue. Or I get intrigued by previews we see on other DVDs.”
“Having been in governemnt management for over 30 years before I retired I've seen enough administrations come and go to know that there are so many agencies which need these political appointments that few presidents actually know the person they are appointing to head them and some of the appointees know nothing about how the agency functions. The reagan appointees to SSA caiused a fiasco in the disability program that went all the way to the SCOTUS and took years to correct. When Medicare was still in DHEW and SSA, one Head actually told us that 2 years after being in charge he finally realized that the Medicare building across ffrom his apartment house was under his jurisdiction.
It's nice to see GSA in trouble as they usually just function as a pain in the butt for other agencies that have to follow their sometimes ridiculous rules as to office space and location.”
“Yes but Bush rode in one the Clinton surpulses and budgets, as well,as a booming economy. It too W several years to blow the surplus and really start to skyrocket the deficit by starting his unfunded wars while cutting taxes. So W. did not just d create a $4T hole, he moved the hill that was on top of the surface first before he started to dig down. As for Obama, how else do you get out of a depression except by spending money? This deperession/recession would have been over last year had the states not started to lay people off and stopped spending money and the economy stalled again. Cutting government spending means cutting salaries so there is less to spend, and cutting purchases lowers demand which businesses depend on.”
