“What an amazing plant! I will have to pass this along - parsley is especially a powerful green plant to add to our diet. For anyone battling breast cancer I highly recommend Judith L. Pearson's new book, It's Just Hair: 20 Essential Life Lessons. Pearson is a breast cancer survivor who inspires you with humor. “I agree that those entering into the high-tech field have a higher salary range and also have more opportunities for employment. This is an excellent career choice, and students who want to learn more about the process of a job like software development can greatly benefit from reading the new book, Digital Work in an Analog World, by John R. Fox. This is a non-technical read which offers something for everyone in the software profession. You can find the author's website here: http://www.analogdevelopment.com/

“Excellent advice and so true. I agree that divorce is a culmination of things over the years of bad seeds that were sown and are now bearing fruit. I especially agree that you need to keep moving forward and learn from your past mistakes. Pam Evans has written an excellent memoir about this called, Ring EXchange - Adventures of a Multiple Marrier, in which she shares her own stories that are very enlightening. I highly recommend this one for anyone going through or who has gone through a divorce. http://www.ring-exchange.com/

“Thanks for sharing your thoughts on branding - excellent article! I agree that you need to be passionate about what you do. In addition to this successfully leveraging your social networks and making this a priority is another key to success, as is pointed out by Lisa Anderson in her book, Leverage Social Networks to Drive Business Results, which I highly recommend. http://www.lma-consultinggroup.com/

“Excellent article. A clear vision and step by step plan is so important when starting a new company. Another essential element is being innovative and staying ahead of the game in what is new for your niche. I just finished an outstanding book about this entitled, Bottom-up and Top-Down Innovation: Innovate Your Way to Success! Create an Innovative Company!, written by Joseph N. Stein. The author has actually put together two books in one and offers tips on how innovation power can be put in the hands of the employees. I highly recommend this one for any new business or for those who want to increase their business. Here is the author's website: http://www.simplyinnovate.net/

Our Unsafe Healthcare System Is The Issue, Not Caps on Tort Settlements

Commented Feb 22, 2011 at 21:26:31 in Politics

“This is dead on - great article. Malpractice is out of control and your use of the term, "sick" healthcare system is so true. Deane Waldman MD MBA has written about this very topic in an excellent book called, Uproot U.S. Healthcare: To Reform Healthcare. The author shows where all the money is going and how much waste we can recover, to use for patient care. Anyone who would like to be more empowered on how to change the system should read this book. You can read more about this here: http://www.uproothealthcare.com/

hp blogger Pearl Korn on Feb 23, 2011 at 10:47:40

“Thanks very much. That term "sick care" system I believe was first coined by Dr. J. Elders a Surgeon General some years ago.Obviously it stayed with me. There is no profit in a healthy society and the vested interests have fought single payer because it removes the profit factor. And those same special interests keep members of congress in da money for their campaigns. And round and round it goes.

Thanks for the link to what sounds like a book worth reading. Knowledge is indeed power.”

I Considered A "Medicaid Divorce" When Cancer Began Bankrupting Me

Commented Feb 1, 2011 at 01:42:24 in Divorce

“Thank you for sharing your story with us. My aunt, who recently recovered from colon cancer, had suffered similar circumstances - there are so many who have gone through this. I just finished reading a very good book about this called, Uproot U.S. Healthcare: To Reform Healthcare by Deane Waldman, MD MBA. The author offers great advice on how we can change the system. I learned where all the money is going and how much waste we can recover so it can be used for patient care. I found it very empowering, and it gave me hope that through knowledge we can make change happen. If you would like to visit the author's website you can do so here:

“What an amazing man and an inspiring story. It's great to honor the writer behind the magic. He will be greatly missed! I would love to read his book, especially after having just finished reading The Kennedy Detail by one of JFK's secret service men, Gerald Blaine. This compelling story takes you inside the Secret Service during President John F. Kennedy’s administration giving you a window into history like you’ve never seen before. I found it to be very eye opening. Everyone should read this book. You can visit the author's website here:

“Thank you for sharing this article on Michale Douglas. My heart goes out to him and I hope he beats this thing. I remember seeing him on David Letterman talking about how he got the cancer and he said it was from both smoking and drinking. I knew about tobacco being a leading cause of cancer and more recently read about alcohol as a factor in a book called, "The Sobering Truth," by Jeff Herten, M.D. This one is a real eye opener with the doctor's testimony and medical facts. “Great list to get a fresh start on in business. Read the Facebook Effect book, which was very interesting. Another great read that's coming out in September you might enjoy is by author Chris St. Hilaire called, "27 Powers of Persuasion." What has peeked my interest about this one is that that author teaches you how to assess your own ego and make your weaknesses your strengths while at the same time showing you the most effective way to deal with opposition. Since I am in sales this will be a much needed and valuable resource. It's competitive out there! You can check out the author's website here: http://www.27powersofpersuasion.com/

I'm inspired by author Judith Sagé's book, "FREE SEX. EXPENSIVE THERAPY." I would recommend this story to anyone struggling with sex addiction. The author does a great job of being honest, but keep the heavy subject light. You can visit the author's website here:

“This seems to be a surface way to have empowerment. It really comes from within, as pointed out in Carol Marleigh Kline's book, "Streetwise Spirituality." I really enjoyed this one and learned that enlightenment is a step-by-step process that anyone can achieve, rather like learning a foreign language. It is not reserved for those who become enlightened through a thunderbolt moment. Here's a link to the author's website if you would like to check this one out:
