It certainly wasn't his most sophisticated or mature slice of humor - and it can be debated as to whether it was funny at all. The greatest gift a parent could give a child is the perspective of world knowledge and showing them that there there is great diversity in both thought, way of life, and society. I was shocked at the lack of knowledge of how the world really is in by a great number of Americans who have been hindered in this educational experience - having never stepped out of their state, let alone their country. As it happens, the crime rate in Jordan is quite a bit lower than that of most US cities - and I suppose the globe trotting parents' previous trips there had given them this wisdom.
