“Why is a reality star being given so much time at a Republican Leadership Conference?
Instead of getting "godly" like Robertson suggests, the GOP should find better candidates that can reach across the aisle to minorities and women. If they don't then the Republican Party will continue losing Presidential elections.”
“I can honestly say that I have never listened to a full album by Kiss. It's possible that they have some decent music. But I guess that I will never know b/c the whole face painting thing for me is a bit of a weird thing to comprehend. If I were to compare them to a band that has similar rabid followers then I would go with the 'Insane Clown Posse'. For me bands that need to paint their faces like WWF wrestlers are lacking somewhere in the substance category.”
“Time to dust off the old velcro suit and jump into the wall. David Letterman was part of my childhood along with Carson in the 1980s. The night after he retires will never be the same for me.”
Karl Hildebrand on Apr 3, 2014 at 18:23:14
“Man, that was there first thing I thought of. That was amazing watching him jump on to that wall. That probably was THE Letterman moment for me. Although, I saw the show when he had the Talking Heads on back in the day. That was an amazing show. The musical acts on his show always gave seminal performances.”

“OMG That was sooooooooo goofy funny! I caught that show. I loved when he would hit the drive through restaurants.”

“Carson always seemed kinda old to me? (the way Dave might to kids now?)”

“Great news for Pixies fans all over the world. All of the EP releases the past few months have spoiled even the most diehards out there. I'm really looking forward to see what new sounds will come from this great band.”

“I thought the EPSs were great, better than anything any of these new bands from the past 10 years or so have put out”
“That isn't a stupid assumption at all. MSNBC has been known to employ people who shouldn't be in front of the camera. Look at what they did for Luke Russert after Tim died. That kid is another one of these so called on-air journalists (like Farrow) that doesn't have any field experience whatsoever. But people love their little MSNBC, Fox, and CNN cults of personalities so much that they are going to look past the journalistic accomplishments of their pretty face anchors and settle for news that no longer has any integrity. But boy those 'purdy' faces sure make up for all of the mess that they can't do, right?”
Thethorpedo on Mar 26, 2014 at 11:39:23
“So far the only issue I've seen brought up in regards to Farrow's show is an error on the part of the Producer. Have you watched his show or even looked at what he's done so far? Not everyone can be Christiane Amanpour...and not everyone needs to be, in my opinion. He's bright, knowledgeable and experienced in ways that most aren't, which means I care about his opinion more than the average person. And that he isn't offensive to the eyes doesn't hurt.
And comparing him to the anti-intellectual clowns on Fox News is just offensive to him.”
“And those "accomplishments" mean that he should have a show on a cable news network? Gotcha...”
Thethorpedo on Mar 25, 2014 at 20:30:29
“Not necessarily, but the show is actually quite good and he's accomplished more in his short life than most of us could hope for in half the time. Does it hurt that he has "royal" lineage, no. Is it like he was just given this opportunity because of it...that would be a stupid assumption.”
“It has nothing to do with age. Farrow is almost as bad as Luke Russert. And the only thing going for both Luke and Ronan are their last names. Neither one should be sitting in a national news spotlight. Send them both to North Dakota for about ten years so they can gain some real experience.”
“Another PC comedian looking to infringe on others thoughts of WHAT IS FUNNY!!! Let me know when this chick has an all black sitcom w/o any white characters on the WB network. Then I will come back and point the finger at her for not opening her show up to whites.”

“Black's solo career is unfortunately over. He stated this a few months ago after the release of EP-1. Frank/Black Francis also said that he is going to concentrate his writing for new Pixies songs.
I don't see Deal's departure as a big problem. How hard is it for someone to sing 'Gingantic' over and over again. Kim Deal also wasn't a great bassist. She barely knew how to play when she first joined the 'Pixies' in the mid-80s.
EP-1 is actually pretty decent. "Indie Cindy", "What Goes Boom", and "Another Toe in the Ocean" are very strong tracks. Most bands in 2013 would be lucky to have three songs worth of material on an album. I'll take the new "Pixies" over the old Kim "greatest hits" Deal version any day.
Also there may be hope for them yet. The Breeders are ending their tour at the end of December. The firing of Kim Shattuck could be the olive branch that is needed to get Kim Deal back on the road with them.”

“Well, there was Throwing Muses and Breeders.”

“"Never say never" would seem to be the guiding principle here - about Pixies or, hopefully FB solo. Surely in whatever he declared, he was just expressing a renewed commitment to the current project. (???)
I agree EP-1 is ok. But i still prefer almost anything from the solo works.
I'm guessing Kim Deal isn't coming back, but eh - who knows.
Whatever happens, I just admire FB's songwriting so much. Can't believe it will be contained indefinitely within the contours of Pixies redux.”

“And I was talking about Bono's ad-libs from Achtung Baby. U2 mold their sound based on the situations they are involved in. At the time of AB Edge was going through a divorce. The lyrics of that record are dark. Hansa Studios at the time of that recording also offered a paralleled emotion of being 'free' b/c the Berlin Wall was coming down. U2 have caught lightning in a bottle a few times in their career. For an aging rock band that's pretty much irrelevant to mainstream music these days that's pretty impressive.”

“I respect them for taking their time recording new music. They need the studio time to perfect their sound. If you watch 'From the Sky Down' documentary then you will see what I'm talking about.”
Soda Sullican on Nov 23, 2013 at 01:39:39
“I bought the documentary the day it came out. And the ENTIRE point of the documentary is the pressure they were up against with that album. That album was either going to keep the band together or tear it apart. And they had a DEADLINE. Even the biggest fans admit and joke about the ridiculous amounts of time the band takes on working on an album. It is the reason Rick Rubin threw his hands up. Because they go into the studio with a blank canvass and no complete song, and because they like to experiment is EXACTLY why they need someone standing their pointing at the calendar.”
