“Hey, if they are getting it for free, why should they be permitted to buy luxury goods and ask why they are not getting more? Food stamps are supposed to be for necessity... Necessity for necessity... Would you say candy bars, soda and chips are necessity? Perhaps in the obese US but elsewhere they are luxury goods...”
“They dont have to work there.. that is the point... they separate out the productive districts from down town (which doesnt produce enough)... If the businesses were downtown, I am sure the major would tax them big time (he has no choice)... this would push out the business to the more tax competitive aka the new district... a further detriment the city... so yes, it is very much like Detroit..
BTW, if the 'rich white people' want to 'play' there, they already pay for the privledge by bringing in money... if they were taxed more than those who live there, they would just go / spend their money elsewhere. Who wouldnt?
Bottom line, redistribution of wealth does not work.. It never has... It never will...”
“To default would be like going to bed after a long night of drinking knowing you will have a pretty nasty hangover in the morning. To not default would be to keep drinking until you pass out and never wake up..
Either way, it is an unsustainable party.... however, there is only one option to survive..”
“If I were in charge, food stamps would only be redeemable at govt run facilities with generic products, no soda, candy, chips, etc.. Bare essentials: flour, sugar, bread, cheese, baby formula, a ration of meat and vegetables.....
It would be interesting to see how quick the food stamp line dwindles...”

“Oh goodie. Millions of new government jobs in facilities that would have to be operational at reasonable distances from every citizen no matter how rural. They would have to be staffed, supplied and maintained everywhere, even when there was little or no local need because someone might fall on hard times.
Sounds like a phenomenal waste of money. I hope I can get that contract.”

“You're quite right. At my local grocer I see grossly overweight ethnics buying soda, frozen dinners and deserts with foodstamps”
