“I never said life was simple. You did. Take social safety nets. Let's talk about today. You want to talk about Clinton, I agree. But that's not the topic TODAY. And Obama isn't threatening the social safety nets if by "cuts on the table" you mean the suggestion for means testing. Many on the left are ok with that. The Ryan plan is a failure as are every conservative economic policy that has so utterly failed the american people in the last 30 years. So yep, still want to talk about social safety nets but not sure you do. In fact even the bishops now want to talk about so guess there's something to talk about.
You failed because your premise is wrong.
Yup, nuff said. Try again.”

“"I never said life was simple. You did."
Yes, I said that - in response to your simplistic "bad guy Repubs, good guy Dems" comment.
"And Obama isn't threatening the social safety nets if by "cuts on the table" you mean the suggestion for means testing."
So, as you can see in black and white, Obama was offering a lot more than means testing - he offered $4 trillion in cuts. Fortunately, the Repubs said "no", for reasons of their own.
Are you starting to "get it" now, or are you still in denial about your messiah Obama and the men-in-white Dems? When the Repubs offer, as Bush did several years ago, to privatize Social Security, they realize that the public would lynch them when it inevitably turned into a disaster for the people. But by threatening privatization, the Repubs keep it on the agenda and shift the discussion to the right.
Then, working from the standard good-cop-bad-cop playbook, the Dems come along and say, "privatization is going too far - we'll just cut $4 trillion from the program". If that's your idea of liberalism, you need to sing along with Phil Ochs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u52Oz-54VYw”

“i don't give a damn what you do. you seem to be another brilliant guy who thinks we should run before we crawl. if it's a business plan it's not science fiction. it was science fiction when it was in every bad sci fi movie that featured a flesh loving monster. now it's a business model. with thinkers like you this nation would be doomed. luckily those that DO THINGS dismiss those that, well, look in a mirror”

“the guys on the space station would disagree with you. but who are they to challenge your brilliant mind when clearly we should have started running in space not just before walking but before crawling”
you folks are disturbed and are being removed everywhere you nest”

“Hate to break the truth to ya Goober. Grab some tissues and grow up and take the facts like a man
January 3, 2007 was the day that Democrats took control of both houses of Congress. Let's take a factual look at what they inherited.
The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77
The unemployment rate was 4.6%
The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%
The economy had just set a record of 52 straight months of job creation
26 million Americans were on food stamps
47 banks were on the FDIC problem list
The Social Security program took in the neighborhood of 100 billion more than it paid out
The national debt was approaching 9 trillion dollars
Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking Committee
Obama became a Senator from Illinois
Bush was on record requesting restraint on Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae 17 times
Since then, it was Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae that dumped trillions of dollars of toxic assets on taxpayers. It was Obama who got the third highest pay-out from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. It was the Democratic Congress that defended them along the way.
OBAMA HAS FAILED MISERBALY........ITS HIS OWN FAULT AND NOBODY ELSES DEAL WITH IT”
“wow, how impressive, a wikipedia scholoar....dude...seriously? LOL...last place i would ever seek a history lesson is from anyone on this site....if you are actually interested in the topic you cut and pasted try reading 1491 by Charles Mann....now you really do need to learn one more thing to round out your wikipedia education...here, i've done the work for you... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Figure_of_speech”
“it is impossible to travel the speed of light using any kind of mechanical or propulsion device......there is simply a physics problem with space travel...the faster you go the more energy you need and at about the speed of light the need is infinite and it's hard to carry an infinite amount of energy, right....and if you could it still can't be done in a time span of normal lives or generations or milllenia for that matter
that leaves, for the moment, tricks.....string, wormholes, whatever
but it does not rule out solar sails....that solves the energy problem just not the duration of trip problem....so you'd have to have a ship big enough that carry a civilization around that can keep things going for the hundreds of thousands of years it would take to fly from one galaxy to another....and so then you have a food, water, air problem
but you're right...there is no evidence and there is no coverup....anyone with proof would be an instant hero and celebrity
now there is a certain author who has convinced himself he's been abducted by aliens and anally probed but I'm thinking that's just what happens in the woods after too many beers....cue the ukeleles....”

“Wikipedia "2012 Phenomenon"
"Professional Mayanist scholars state that predictions of impending doom are not found in any of the extant classic Maya accounts, and that the idea that the Long Count calendar "ends" in 2012 misrepresents Maya history and culture."
"the first clearly Maya settlements were established around 1800 BC" & "The Maya centers of the southern lowlands went into decline during the 8th and 9th centuries"
"The Maya civilization extended throughout the present-day southern Mexican states of Chiapas, Tabasco, and the Yucatán Peninsula states of Quintana Roo, Campeche and Yucatán. The Maya area also extended throughout the northern Central American region, including the present-day nations of Guatemala, Belize, Northern El Salvador and western Honduras."
"the Spanish initiated a number of attempts to subjugate the Maya who were hostile towards the Spanish crown and establish a colonial presence in the Maya territories of the Yucatán Peninsula and the Guatemalan highlands. This campaign, sometimes termed "The Spanish Conquest of Yucatán", would prove to be a lengthy and dangerous exercise for the conquistadores from the outset, and it would take some 170 years and tens of thousands of Indian auxiliaries before the Spanish established substantive control over all Maya lands."
Wikipedia lists 30 "important sites" & 350 listed sites & one study has documented over 4,400 ancient sites
A few of these sites have over 100 structures.
There are 7 million Maya living in this area, who share a cultural and linguistic heritage.”
