“Were you going to vote for him before the Wright flap?
Would the testimony of the hundreds of people who know him personally and say he's a good guy influence you? What do you think he would do if elected POTUS, give every Black person 40 acres and a mule? That would really screw up the system.”
“Believe it or not the job of POTUS is a very strenuous one. It ages most occupants of the W.H. It helps to be somewhat youngish to do the job. Is John McCain able to meet the challenge at 72 yrs old? He does not come across as a young 71 yr old and he has not even assumed the office yet.”
“No, that's not what I think PJay is saying. I think (and I agree) that Wright gives the racists a clearer conscience about not voting for Obama since they were not going to vote for him because he was Black.”
PJay on Apr 2, 2008 at 15:27:35
“Yes, thank you, butch5. That's exactly what I was saying.”
“If you are still there you need not worry about whether or not his background and experience will be known. There is an army out there at this moment digging up any and every little morsel they think can be used against Obama.
"his true intentions" Sounds very ominous. What do you suspect they are, give every Black person forty acres and a mule?”
“Bill and Hill were able to fight off every attack from the Republicans because they were "tough" . Ha. I don't know about you guys but most people didn't mess with the tough people that I knew. If they were really so smart and "tough" they would have gotten the goods on some of those Republican hypocrits and told them to back the f--- off. If they were so tough they would not have had eight years of harassment by the Republicans. A tough guy/gal makes people scared to mess with them. If Hill is elected President there will be more of the same for four or eight years.”
I would tend to agree with you 95% I think W was duped to lead this con game. I have somewhat of a problem believing this whole thing started in his brain. The power brokers knew that he could charm a lot of folks with his "good old boy" persona. Besides their whole card was faulty voting procedures and machines. I remember how Saddam was talking smack before the first Gulf War. "The mother of all wars". "There will be a sea of American coffins". Then the US military ran through the country in a couple of weeks. It was no contest. The second Gulf War was just as quick, however we are still taking gunfire five years later. CaChing CaChing. The enormity of the con is stunning only surpassed by the gullibility of John and Jane Doe who still support Bush and his cronies. We need to say a prayer for the poor folks in our military who have to bare the ultimate brunt of this charade.”
I agree, I do not consider him a war hero. He is to be commended for going to combat since he probably didn't have to based on family connections. Now I don't downplay the horror of being tortured. I seriously doubt if I could stand up against torture. However, McCain was captured and he cracked, signing statements against the US. I personally consider the POWs who were able to escape, withstood the torture, perhaps died/ were severely maimed while refusing to sign statements. Those were the true heroes. Having said that, all servicemen are to be honored for their service.Something this present administration seems to have forgotten.”
“It is so sad that our communications media has degraded to the state that it is in. It appears that it has just turned us all into partisans of one political party or the other. "Progressives" hating "Conservatives" and thinking they're idiots and vice versa. This is so sad because all of us common working folks are getting screwed by the oligarchy while we tear each other down.”
“Yo Dr4, what's with the watermelon reference? That's so lame. I used to think that "Negros" were the only ones who ate watermelon until I worked in a Jewish neighborhood. They get down on the melon, and if you ever ventured outside of your cave to a buffet or fine restaurant you would observe that most of them offer watermelon at their fruit bar.
I am new to these blogs. They are really educating me as to what kinds of loons, racists, shitheads and other inbred characters are out there in the blogusphere. Wheww. Fortunately, there are also many intelligent and articulate folks who give enlightening perspectives.”
“This is corporate right wing censorship 101. First Randi Rhodes on Air America and now Keith. It's not brain surgery. Rachel is next. We lefties had better get off of our arses and start fighting back. Those people are playing hardball while we're debating.”
“Rachel Maddow is brilliant. If there were more people in the public media AND government this country would be in a much better state. She should be in Obama's inner circle. She's Randy Rhodes with a bit more class. I'm a 69 year old Black man who admires her very much. I loved it when she cleaned racist Buchanan's clock when he made his racist remarks alleging that only White folks contributed to the greatness of this country. The ubiquitous one was not spotted on TV for over a week. Who else would take him on?”

“I've always thought that she was a bit weird. Does not surprise me that she would do something like this. My first thought was that this was for publicity. However, I am willing to to be convinced that it was otherwise. Sorry, never did get into her music. But what a future behind that chick!”
“US society needs to get a grip. Tiger screwed up his marriage but he has not done anything that most heterosexual man wouldn't love to do. He's young, virile, not bad looking and has PLENTY of money.
However, as a senior citizen man I can't help marvel at all these women who apparently have no qualms admitting to having sex with a married man. Do these women have parents that they care about. Forget caring about his wife and kids.
I wonder if he'll spread some of that loving and CASH with a sister or latina in the future.”
“She is %$#@^& ignorant and dangerous. But can you fault her for trying to get paid. I would only expect some uneducated gap tooth hillybillies to support her but unfortunately some reasonably "normal" people think she's the cat's meow. It shows you the state of our society that more than a hand full of people would think this "quitter" is qualified to lead this great nation. She's so ignorant she doesn't even know what she doesn't know.”

“Omega Hunter must be a young person, under fifty yrs old. Us seniors were treated by homemade remedies that cost pennies to make and were very effective. My great-grandmother used to put a "musterplaster" on the inside of our undershirt at night when we went to bed and away went the cold, sore throat, congestion, fever, you name it. I don't say don't go to a doctor but he/she is not the end all be all. There are many things that can be cured without the expense and agony of "modern" medicine.”
cable1977 on Nov 3, 2009 at 14:36:18
“That is a treatment that treats the symptoms of a cold, not the cold itself. Same as using any of the menthol chest rubs currently marketed.
Furthermore, a cold is usually not of long duration to begin with, so as Omega Hunter said, you are offerring anecdotal data that the treatment worked when it is equally likely that the treatment did nothing and the cold simply went away on its own.
That is why you perform scientific studies with measurable endpoints in double-blind, placebo controlled studies. To remove observational bias and to make accurrate assessments of treatment efficacy. Unfortunately, in the vast majority of studies performed using homeopathic remedies, the conclusions are that the remedy did not work, at least not any better than a placebo. For example, in cancer treatment:
“Ted Kennedy, the closest person to a real statesman that we had left. What a shame for America that he is gone. The rest of the these hacks on the right and on the left are just wasting precious time and money.
I have never seen so many ignorant and money grubbing people in my life that occupy America today.”
“I am a 69 year old Black man who fears for this country that this ignorant hillbilly gets as much coverage as she does. Talk about the "dumbing down of America". Next someone will recommend Harriet Myers for the Supreme Ct.”
paulita on Aug 14, 2009 at 17:58:44
“I met Harriet Myers and though she may not be Supreme Court material she is a lot smarter than SP by miles...
at least she told the truth to questioners about Karl Roves role in the firing of David Iglesias..
SP is in a class (or lack thereof) all her own..”
Emerald1943 on Aug 14, 2009 at 17:56:03
“Bravo to you, sir! You hit the nail on the head! The "Dumbing down of America " indeed!!!”
corsair1917 on Aug 14, 2009 at 17:54:36
“My sister jokes that Harriet Myers was the cleaning lady down the hall that Bush recommended... And to be honest, the cleaning lady was probably more qualified than Harriet Myers.
I am appalled by the actions of the American public right now and even more so that the MSM covers this woman's every word. She has only been on the scene for almost a year.... a painful agonizing year! Her voice send pains up my spine.... and her ignorance is unbelievable. Why people hang on her ill-informed word amazes me.”
Taiyo on Aug 14, 2009 at 17:49:45
“Yeah, we all remember how THAT turned out.”

“I am a 53 year old white man, fella,
and I am ashamed of my kind,
and appalled at the disgraceful behavior they have displayed over the past two years.
“What Gen. Powell is exhibiting and if you're a White person you will NEVER understand is: Black folks who rise to high positions in the White power structure live in a schizophenic world. They have mastered the "shuffle" which makes White folks feel comfortable to have them around. However, if they have any of their soul and Blackness left they feel the hurt every now and then of prejudice or perceived prejudice. That's why Gates got his ass in a sling. Because of his perceived high station in society he forgot how to address Mr. Charlie and make him feel comfortable.
Another problem the Black man in America has is, unless the discrimination or prejudice is overt we are never quite sure if the reason we are being denied for something that we are clearly qualified to have/get is because we are Black or some other reason.
I am a sixty-nine year old college educated retired cop who automatically assumes that he is being watched by store security or surveillance cameras when I enter an upscale store. No matter how well I'm dressed or carryinging myself in an orderly manner. I've felt that way for years.”
