“Yeah, I'm another hater of the NBC game plan. Remember when the Olympics was only on one channel and all the events were cherry picked and manipulated. Now the Olympics are on several channels, but still they have to play the drama game. In this age of news and social media, everyone knows the results as soon as they happen anyway. Yes, I'm an American and I want to see Americans perform, but I want to see the best in the world perform no matter where they are from. Enough of this "up close and personal" stuff too. They give some big bio on an athelete, just to see him fall flat on his face. Show us the events. Show us the times, scores and relative standings, and do it in such a way that doesn't twist our logical brains into knots.”

“Were you referring to my comment? If you were, please state what you consider to be "common vulgar street terminology". Your statement is a bit ambiguous. Do you REALLY mean "let there be no illegality at all"? A Libertarian might say that murder should be illegal while suicide should not. The State does not own my body or soul. Another thing, where are the "decent parts of the country" and where are they not? I'm sure you could generate a little debate with your answer to that question.”

“It sounds like Libertarian doctrine to me, and the last time I checked aren't Libertarians on the right? Anyway, it doesn't make any difference what a Democrat does, the right will ALWAYS find something wrong with it. What if they move to make alcohol illegal again. Would you be for it or against it? Just because there is a law against something, doesn't make it right or wrong. A lot of things should be left up to one's own conscience. That means if you believe it is wrong then you don't have to do it, but don't tell me what is right or wrong for me.”

Man From Dixie on Jun 4, 2012 at 17:14:54

“In actuality you said the same thing that I did only you used the more common vulgar street terminology. Better stated sir, let there be no illegality at all, then you do not need police or military either. It has to stop somewhere. I just don't want that lawllessness in the decent parts of the country. Fair enough?”

“Labels, labels, labels...socialist, communist, fascist, libertarian, liberal, conservative, and on and on and on. Where does one stop and another begin? As soon as you label yourself or anyone else, you are in danger of falling into the trap of cognitive dissonance and subsequent behavior of dissonance reduction, at which point you are lying to yourself in order to square opposing beliefs. If I am comservative, I must adopt a stereotypic conservative belief matrix or else...maybe...I'm not really a true conservative. Gee, what do I do if I believe in the elimination of the welfare state but am also pro-choice? There is not one person alive that can be considered 100% (pick any label). The only label I am comfortable with is "free thinker".”

Do I smoke before or during work. Of course not, and I don't drink alcohol then either. I guess it is all about being an adult and know when and where to do certain things. Are we all supposed to march in lock step with what the government wants? Isn't the government supposed to be of the people and by the people? “Will you please give me a break? Evolution (natural selection) has been going on since the beginning of the universe and is still going on. The universe evolved materially before biological forms existed. It doesn't happen overnight and not every mutation is a beneficial one. If it IS beneficial, it is sometimes manifested in the survival of the species as opposed to its extinction. What came first...the chicken or the egg? A Creationist would answer "the chicken". The evolutionist would answer "the egg". Why? Because egg laying creatures predated birds, and birds predated chickens. There are different kinds of chickens, but at a point in time, there existed a proto-chicken that laid an egg that hatched as a chicken. Yes, the difference between that proto-chicken and the chicken was infinitesimally small, but different nonetheless. It is all a matter of definition. There ARE differences in the races. Skin color is a difference, no matter how genetically "insignificant". Bit is not the only one. Humans spread over the planet evolving in different ways. Now population density is resulting in inter-breeding and combining the characteristics of all races in many different ways to take humans to an even higher level of survivability. This stuff happens over millions and millions of years, and some people can't even contemplate time prior to their own existence.”

Monolithic conservitives and liberals are anachronisms. Most free-thinking people adhere to the best ideas from both the Right AND the Left. That's why they are free-thinking. They don't get sucked into establised party dogma. Gee, if I'm a Republican, I can't believe this...I must believe that.”

“Excellent insight. If you exercise free will and it does not agree with the doctrines set by the church, no matter how earnest you are, you have to suffer the consequences. If you follow the doctrine to the letter, you are not exercising free will, but the will of the church. If I like to sleep till noon, I may think I am exercising free will, but my employer would not tolerate, so I get up and go to work. Think of the things that you really don't have much choice in. If you can think of just one thing, it begins to unravel the whole concept. Either free will is absolutey applicable in ALL scenarios or it is absoluetly not.”

“Whether most of the presidents were religious or not, all of them were/are politicians, and if they believe that the people that will elect them are "religious" they will be "religious" too. When you speak of the "the whims of man", what about the whims of Christianity? How many times has there been doctrinal modifications throughout history? Jesus was the only one that had it right. After him, the church(s) have been in a constant state of flux. Didn't you read my original post? The Spanish Inquisition was thought by its perps to be moral and good. Galileo was thought to be a heretic. If there is one god, doesn't he set these moral laws you speak of within Jews, Muslims, Christians, Hindus, etc. equally. A lot of people squawk that Obama is a Muslim. Is the god of the Muslims good enough to provide you a "religious" president? Man, people have to learn to think outside the box a little more and free themselves of dogma propagated by those who best benefit from it.”

paulfruend on Jan 12, 2012 at 23:17:02

“As you said, "Jesus was the only one that had it right." After the fall of man. Man has been acting like they are the ones that are like God and know right from wrong. We only have the true word, "the Bible'" and the Holy Spirit inside us to bring us to Jesus and our God. Where there is man, there are also evil self-serving men, even in the church. Christianity is as far from evil as man can get on this earth. True Christians, don't believe they are better than everybody else; they just know they need Jesus and the help of God to live a life that is pleasing to our creature. (God is good.... Man, not so good. ) Again, between a loving God,( that wants us to love one another,) or a world where self-serving man rules, I will take Christianity and a loving God every time. If you find that man, better than that "Jesus," that you said was the only one that had it right, let me know. To me, evil is the absence of God. If you see evil in people that say they believe Jesus is their savior (Christianity) don't blame Christianity, blame only us sinners in the Church. Remember,The Bible tells us Jesus even showed his temper with the money changers in Temple.”

“The problem is that there is only one Truth. All of the various philosophies, religious or not, can not True views of an absolute Reality. In psychology, you have behaviorists that believe in strict determinism and that we have no choice or free will. But you also have humanists that believe in absolute freedom of choice. You have atheists that would appear to be the kindest and most moral people in the world, and on the other hand, Christians that have been responsible for witch burnings, the Spanish Inquisition, "Holy Wars" and child molestation...just to name a few. How many presidents have testified to their Christianity? Do you really believe that they were all Billy Grahams or Mother Teresas? The funny thing is that the world still turns regardless of your beliefs, but I sure don't want a religious zealot dictating his world view as president of the United States.”

“There is "good" and "bad" in this world. Whichever we frequent the most, will dominate. Between a world where there is a God, ( that set moral laws within us.) or a world with no laws or morals, other than that from the ever changing whims of man, I will take Christianity every time. Most of the Presidents of this Country were religious. I hope we keep it that way.”

Neither Romney or Huntsman have even denounced those people, much less done anything about them. Warren Jeffs may be in jail, but there are thousands like him still completely free.”

Historically speaking, I can think of very few, if any, sexual allegations against politicians that turned out to be ficticious...from either side of the aisle. If you know of any, please post them.”

“Kathleen Willey's accusations against Bill Clinton were never brought before court, but investigators determined that she consistently gave false information and so they didn't find her to be a credible accuser. Not to say that mattered amongst his other accusations, but anywho...

There have been a ton of studies on false accusations of rape, sexual harrassment, and all things related...for rape, some studies have stated the falsehood of accusations is as high as 25% or even 50%, with a LOT of studies being unable to determine the legitimacy of a very large percentage of accusations (sometimes as high as 50% itself), and that's even with DNA testing.
It's because of that excessively high percentage of both false and inconclusive accusations that accusers STILL have to face horrendous scrutiny.

With this case, though...the issue isn't "did he or didn't he harrass them?" or "did they make this up to spite him?" but rather "did he or didn't he settle?" which he has, in several of the instances.”
