“Or you could inform yourself, join a party and get busy making sure your opinion is heard by those making policy.
I'm a PC party member federally and a Liberal member provincially and usually an NDP voter. I get excellent access to PC & Liberal candidates and, as I'm a member of the party, they listen to me in a way they wouldn't if I were outside of it. (I work hard to be polite and respectful)
The reality is, one of the three main parties will be making the decisions on our behalf so engaging and being active is a much better way to make real impact on those decisions.”
“Such amazing talents and joyous news
Unacceptable that a couple who've been together longer than my husband and I (33 years) weren't afforded the same rights we had just because we were opposite genders right from the beginning of their love.”
“33 years of being married to an evolved man...thank the lord ...
I submit to his corny jokes and he submits to my mastery of IKEA assembly and in all other areas, we're equal.
I'm happy she has a marriage she enjoys but it seems like she's saying a submissive wife is the secret to having a marriage that works...that only works for those women who enjoy being submissive who have partners who also like that. My husband and I count on each other's strengths and neither of us would have lasted a week with a submissive partner.”
“Trouble with Tracey still holds up as the worst sitcom ever made. Murdoch Mysteries should bump it off the list.
This Hour has 22 minutes is top of my list
I never miss Marketplace and our news programs are first rate.
I'm partial to Zoink'd on YTV because it's my son's show lol”
“How ridiculous to co-opt a beautiful story for this agenda.
I ache in my heart for the women who make a difficult decision only to be faced with a hoard of hooting (mostly men) twits shaking signs and calling them vile names. It's why I've volunteered as a clinic escort (a group of women walk in so they don't know who actually has the appointment)
Parents of twins are not making this decision, it's normally used in order to preserve the life of multiples at risk but I suspect you know that.
BTW, the kids most at risk for teen pregnancy are those with parents who opt them out of sexEd classes so it's not unusual to see the teens of those shaking the signs out front of a one clinic being taken to another town for a procedure.”

“Excellent post and so true. Two people I know, who chose to have an abortion, had parents who spent their free time protesting and harassing women outside of abortion clinics.”

“Ketchup is just red liquid sugar and salt and everyone would benefit from cutting it from their diet.
This bottom-lining corporations are doing will end up completely erasing our fragile and shrinking middle class.”
“The only thing wrong with that photo that shines with love and joy is that he's stuck himself into the frame.
It doesn't take a psychologist or psychiatrist to understand that the person with the problem severe enough to keep him from children is the one projecting lust into a picture of obviously doting parents. I fear for his family.”

“I checked the writers list of This Hour Has 22 minutes to see if Ford had been hired since it appears he is writing their material for them.
I was in Florida last week and my waitress said -I always thought of Toronto as clean and safe, I didn't know you had such a drug problem- ...Rob Ford has taken us from Toronto the Good to Toronto the good place to score crack. It will take years to rehab Toronto's reputation and that's all on him.
Katie Simpson has had a front row seat at this table so to see her shocked is saying something. It only got worse when he dragged his seldom seen wife in to show off his dining options. If I hadn't been told it was his wife, I would have thought she was a secretary as he didn't look at her even when he talked about her.
It's obvious he's only taking his advice from his brother. The fact that they believe his problems can be resolved by hiring a nutritionist and trainer shows how truly tone deaf they are. His weight is the very least of his problems.
Anyone else would have stepped down as soon as this started but instead, he looked to Duffy as a role model. Zero shame, honour or self awareness.”

“Costco sells great fitting women's yoga pants in 30 or 32 length that aren't see through and don't highlight a camel toe...for 1/4 the price. My sisters have long been lululemon fans but they say the quality has completely gone out the window so it's disingenuous to blame thigh rub when you know you're using substandard materials while increasing prices.”
Being consistent makes both the parent and kids lives easier. As tough as it is in the first few years, it pays off big time once your kids understand that you mean what you say. They (and we) knew before any transgressions what the punishment would be. Schoolwork not done meant loss of computer/TV/video game for a week...the week went on a calendar and it was a real week. Chores not done meant no money that week (allowance, lunch, access to bank account). After a day or two, I always wished I could cancel the punishment but that would have been counter-productive for both of us.
My guys are 26 & 21 and were never spanked. There was 100X more laughter in our home than tears and we tried to parent instead of just reacting.
I have always been told how lucky I am to have such great kids... I am but I like to think my hubby & I also had something to do with it.”
“How fortunate the fundies are that PP has higher ethics. Fundie parents are the ones who go nuts when little Susie comes home from high school preggers. Because they build such a giant purity spectacle with father/daughter pledges and balls, it could hurt their standing so guess who tiptoes into PP ....I know of cases where a family who was demonstrating outside on a weekly basis were allowed to come after hours because the mom threatened to kill herself if her daughter's little problem wasn't "taken care of"... Two weeks later, there they were outside with their signs knowing PP will never divulge their secret.
There's much less of a chance of kids getting pregnant in their teens if they have progressive parents who teach them the real facts of life. Ask any high school teacher if there's a higher incidence of early pregnancy among kids whose parents sign to exempt them from sex Ed ... Usually those are the most popular choices in the teachers lounge preggo pool.”

“Johnny Carson was courted to write an autobiography and he turned down every approach. He didnt do talk shows, he didnt give interviews and other than the few personal stories he shared on his show, he was an intensely private person. Sad that two of the people he trusted most in life betrayed him for money because their own lives weren't worth documenting. I'm as disgusted at this author as I was at Ed McMahon.
I hope people stay away from this book in droves and instead remember the laughter Johnny brought into our lives, the comic careers he breathed life into and respect his wishes for privacy since he can no longer refute this tripe.”

“She's lovely and obviously fit. Good for her for taking time out for fitness.
I didn't find her original statement to be insulting and I think her rebuttal is appropriate. I did feel very time management shamed by her...is there a hashtag for that?”

“If I didn't know him, I would think so also. He's a longtime Liberal though. Ex-military.. Knowledgeable and great candidate (and person). I suspect he has a much better chance of turning his dad than vice versa.”

“One of the people running for the Liberal nom in my riding is the son of a longtime conservative executive team member who has run on the Con ticket. The candidate's team includes the adult children of three other highly placed conservatives. They are all between 26 and 35 and they're pumped for this election. Their excitement is contagious and has motivated a lot of people who would not normally be jumping in this early with this much hope and energy so...yes, young voters could make this happen.”

“sounds like a doppelganger to me. what better way to sabaotage a party than from the within .Sounds sinister to me . Personally i would have reservations about allowing them in caucus, simply for the fact they become privy to confidential Liberal party info which can the be discussed with `family members ` over the dinner table.”

“This is no different than the Toronto clinic that performs hymen restoration surgery.
We, as a nation have to decide what is and isn't ok in the treatment of women in our country. The Toronto clinic hypes how confidential their services are so I imagine a young woman being spirited in and out, the shame she must feel that her hymen wasn't intact and what she must have gone through for that determination to be made and then, shortly after that surgery, she gets to start married life off with a man who has no such restrictions on him...I'm sure that wedding night is a real treat fresh off a surgeons table.
As much as people would like it to be, this isn't a Quebec issue, it's a Canada issue and needs to be addressed quickly!”

“This is a bit different. Issuing a certificate of virginity creates an onus on girls to produce such documentation and thereby creates a situation in which their confidentiality can be violated. NOT producing the certificate can thus be seen as akin to admission that you're not a virgin. So simply offering certificates in and of itself, erodes patient/doctor privilege.
However if a woman wants to have hymen restoration surgery then it's her own business. Yes, I agree, it's a shame that any woman would feel the need to do so, but ultimately it's her right. What does it say about us as a society, that women can have their breasts augmented, their noses altered or their pubic hair permanently removed?”
“So true Lina but don't forget, they need all those girls to stay home until someone else grows up enough to cook, clean, babysit (parent) for all those kids. .
I told my kids (much to their horror) that they should only be intimate with someone they were in a relationship with but that it was important to know they were compatible in that way before they married because it's an important part of a marriage. .
When I was young, I crushed hard on a guy who, when we kissed, kissed like a wet fish..it was gross and the crush dissolved. Imagine if I'd married him ...ack”
