“He might have better luck starting in Hollywood. Movie stars and producers make far more than ticket takers and folks that sell popcorn. They would be more likely to lead by example since many say they share Mr. Nader's desire for more income equality.”

Kaptain Kool on Dec 9, 2013 at 20:31:55

“Apples and oranges. Exhibitors sell concessions and rent space. Distributors take the ticket sales. Studios produce the movies. There are a million or so variations in how the contracts can be written between these three separate entities.”

I don't expect it....probably just more rants about other folks but no action on his own part. But, perhaps......”

“The government programs to increase the cost of housing (ultra low interest rates, mortgage deduction, capital gains roll over, mortgage subsidies etc.), are working as can be seen in the cost of housing( both purchased and rented) in many urban centers. Young folks without a house or renting might begin to question the wisdom of some of it at some point.”

It is good for construction companies, some workers etc., but it is the past. “I'm not proposing the Hyperloop. But as Elon Musk pointed out, the California train will be both slower, more expensive to operate (if unsubsidized) and less safe by two orders
of magnitude than flying, so why would anyone use it? The head of the California
high speed rail project even called him to complain that it wasn’t the very slowest
bullet train nor the very most expensive per mile. The driverless cars are an advance...we should lead, not follow with a system that will be antiquated and stagnant.”

It would generate $15 billion for his state's economy and he is waiting for the Federal government to do it? I do agree that supplying people with money to be spent on healthcare will increase the demand for healthcare...just pointing out that the supply of money has to come from somewhere.”

“Excuse me, we already have a tax program in place.  There's no need to raise anyone's taxes.  It's common sense - the more people that are working, the more tax revenue that is generated to stimulate the economy - and more consumerism too.  Anyone not living in the Tea Party bubble knows this.”

“Cars are getting much more efficient, and pollution less. A train is only efficient if it is filled....like with freight. If folks want to leave at different times they either have to conform to the train schedule...which can drastically lower their efficiency...or you need lots of trains (that then will be traveling partially filled). Trains also need to stop at their stops whether there are passenger to exchange or not. We have buses in our area that drive around with three people in them much of the time. So comparisons of fully filled trains which doesn't take into account the impact on the passenger's efficiency aren't correct. Plus you have all the stations, parking, administration, security, etc. of a train system. It isn't the future.”
