Target Canada President Says Consumers Can Keep Cross-Border Shopping If They Don't Like Prices

Target Canada President Says Consumers Can Keep Cross-Border Shopping If They Don't Like Prices

“I shopped at Target in Durham this past week and loved every minute of it. The staff were awesome, carts that just glide along the floor, starbucks coffee that attaches to a holder on your cart, no line up to pay, home decor department beautiful, sure not every shelf was fully stocked but I expected that when they are just opening, cant wait to go back, Target leaves Walmart in the dust, I will be happy to pay a few extra dollars for great service :)”

“I see a lot of comments here dissing the parents for being so irresponsible but a lot of you posting comments are not from Europe where abductions ( at that time ) were simply unheard of. It's a different mentality over there, people are more trusting of each other and being in a family resort in summer I can understand how they were having dinner with friends and checking on the children every 15? minutes. I really don't think that 2 doctors would set out to get rid of their first born, it just doesn't make any sense. As for comments about the parents not answering questions, put yourself in their shoes...do you think that you would be any position to answer PP questions while in a state of shock? Innocent until proven guilty”

“In Europe where abductions (at that time) we simply unheard of. False! Abductions all of the world have been happening, especially in Europe and have been an issue there for longer than you or I could remember. And yes, my Family is from Europe and yes, I think that 2 Doctors would absolutely do this. They are not exempt from committing a crime because they have a title in life, let's not be so naive about that. I don't know what happened but there is negligence on the parents part for leaving their children and that must be hard to live with. If they only stayed in the room....that seems pretty easy with your 3 most precious possessions in life.”

“Hello. Portugal however, is on the high end of child abductions with 5.5 per 100,000 population in 2006. There is no reason to believe that is an anomaly. Portugal ranks #7 on an international list. They wouldn't know this of course without checking. My purpose is to counter wild un-sourced claims..."simply unheard of.." Nope.

The US stats are about 2.5 child abductions per 100,000 population in 2012.

I calculated this by the following: 800,000 children reported missing annually - the percentage of 313 million population is about 2.5 nappings per 100,000. Did that in my head. Seems about right.

Canada, just for curiosity sake is a whopping 13 children kidnapped or missing per 100,000. #2 on the list after Turkey.”

“Just because it's a different mentality, doesn't make it right. And honestly, how can you enjoy dinner when one of you is stepping away every fifteen minutes? Really? Get someone to watch the children!”

“@eirann

Thank you for a totally unrealistic appraisal of life (then and now) in Europe.

What is interesting is you assertion that because the McCann's are doctors they are somehow beyond reproach. It is precisely because of a mindest like yours that the pair of them never faced child neglect charges in the UK.

As for your 'every 15 minutes,' the new time line established by Police states no-one checked on the children for 58 minutes during that crucial unsupervised period. The 'parents' were having far too good a time.”

“There are more reasons than just fear of child abduction to not leave such young children alone.”

lilacoceans on Oct 25, 2013 at 00:52:26

“You do realize leaving infants alone with a 3 year old toddler is illegal don't you? You obviously do not have children or you would instinctively know you do NOT leave babies alone.ever.end.of.story.”
