“When did America start believing in magic more then science, laws of nature that cannot be broken, and I didn't get the memo!”

“Where have you been? 80% of us believe in God. 70% of us believe in Angels. 50% of us believe in the "Rapture". We are (generally} one of the biggest believers in "Magic" in the western world. Newton's law explains the collapse of the Towers plain and simple. The explosive sounds being heard as they were collapsing was the air being squeezed out of each floor as they smashed down on each other (like popping a balloon). We Americans (generally) are blissfully ignorant.”
“Respectfully, you are wrong, Peter. Never in the 100 year history of steel structures has there ever been a collapse due to fire. Physically impossible.”

“Their has never been a fire in a building with this much heat, not even close...
THe floor supports were connected to outer walls, the steel didn;t have to melt, not even close to melting, it only needs to be softened..the heat caused by 28,000 gallons of jet fuel in a limited air environment is more than enough...”
Who said anything about melting steel? However, steel anneal's perfectly at 1700°!
Annealing, in metallurgy and materials science, is a heat treatment wherein a material is altered, causing changes in its properties such as strength and hardness. Annealing is used to induce ductility, soften material, relieve internal stresses, refine the structure by making it homogeneous, and improve cold working properties.
Not really what you want to happen to rebar inside concrete, and steel beams holding a building up!”
