“its simply amazing the number of people on this thread who want the US to get involved militarily against a nuclear nation,, i guess they just want us to go to war for any reason whatsoever,, and not worry about a mushroom cloud over new york from russia ,do they?”

“yet another reason to bring back compulsory service to our country for all americans. The military or americorps. We would be less anxious to go to war if we all shared in the sacrifice. Right now the top 1% is letting a differentr 1% of this country make money for them through their blood sacrifice. Compulsory service , no deferments.”

“Almost no one here posts of war. There are diplomatic and economic ways to isolate Russia. The cast majority are for non-military responses.
Wasn't it CONVENIENT for Russia to disarm Ukraine's nuclear arsenal with the Budapest Memorandum in 1994, before Russia invaded Ukraine?”
“people dont want to pay $25 a bag EACH way to check their $30 worth of stuff, its as simple as that,, and eventually they will start wearing 5 shirts and 3 pairs of pants on their bodies so they dont have ANY carryon or checked luggage, the bag fee is the MAIN reason i stopped flying altogether,,and i do NOT miss the hassle and expense”
“well, drop leaflets all over uganda letting the starving children know what food looks like, and let them know WHY they are going to starve,, as i dont care what happens to the children of people who would kill me,, let them ALL go hungry for all i care ,”

“That is just ridiculous. Way to be the villain.”

“Kill them before they kill you, eh? Well aren't you terrible.”
“yes, as i keep being told CONSTANTLY on the news, we are broke, and have to cut grandmas social security,, BESIDES, if we send foreign aid to these countries, doesnt that cut into the 1% tax breaks as well?”
Steve41 on Feb 28, 2014 at 09:58:43
“So you are in favor of continuing aid to Uganda?”
“we can do better than that, we get the NFL to threaten to stop hosting superbowls in any state that puts a law like this on the books, and they bend over faster than a republican congressman in an airport bathroom stall,”
“china has the money, let them spend it, let them BUY uganda and put their citizens to work making the cheap clothes the world demands,, of course, i wont buy a thing with a made in uganda tag on it, ill just walk around without anything on before i spend a dime helping this country”
“then lets REALLY make that the case and stop trying to meddle in their business and stop sending them ANY of OUR money to help them out,, after all its THEIR country,, and if half the country starves,, oh well, its NOT our problem,,”
“you know most republicans lost you in the first sentence of your very well thought out commentary,, its a shame the same institution they support is also cutting their education dollars too,, HMM, to secure a brainless electorate perhaps?”
“russia is the USA in the 1950s, full of bigots and inbreds, its time for them to grow up and realize the world is INCLUSIVE now, now exclusive”
IAntipodean on Jan 20, 2014 at 03:01:34
“What drivel. That is precisely like saying that the USA is the Russia of 1916, because women get paid much less for doing the same amount and type of work than their male counterparts. Maybe it is time for America to grow up and realize that the world doesn't look to them to set standards any more, largely because of their failure to live up to those standards themselves.”
Am-Expat on Jan 19, 2014 at 11:35:31
“No, Russia is not fun of "bigots and inbreds", but how would you know? Forming the opinion you have about a country you know nothing about is surely a element of bigotry. Russians would not jump to the same conclusion about you even though the facts would show the US is falling further and further behind the developed world in many things, including education, and knowledge about the world.
You better spend your time convincing the radical right in the US which dictates policies to become more inclusive, it is needed more there. I have never heard of such hypocritical posturing in any country about how others who live or how they govern themselves as from my own countrymen in the US. It is embarrassing to have to explain to foreigners that Americans are not ALL so ignorant as their comments and actions show.
You should be more interested in issues that are in your realm of knowledge, and ability/responsibility to address but we all know why you(a collective "you") don't, because things are a lot more complicated yet reasonable if one gets close enough to it to see all the factors and reality instead of made up images of single dimensional people they know nothing about.
You will not believe it but Russia has come a long ways in its 22 years, in many things further then the US is hundreds of years. It is better educated, in fact the highest university grad rate in the world.”
