Louie Gohmert Cites Bible As Foreign Policy Guide On Israel: 'The Bible Is Accurate'

Louie Gohmert Cites Bible As Foreign Policy Guide On Israel: 'The Bible Is Accurate'

Commented Nov 14, 2013 at 20:53:36 in Politics

“Exactly, but note that Genesis 12 is about Abraham who predated Judaism and the Law. If Gohmert is using that scripture in the context of Judaism, he'd be wrong.”

“Funny, the chart shows 290 drug-related deaths in 2006 and compares that to 400 deaths in 1999. But decriminalization took place in 2001. Death that year were 280. Deaths went up. In 2007, there were 314 deaths. Source: White House.

Conclusion: The chart is misleading at best.”

OldNedder on Aug 27, 2013 at 15:31:26

“The article isn't even about the lower chart. Whoever edited the article shouldn't have used only the marijuana-related chart. Editing mistake.”

Margo Arrowsmith on Aug 23, 2013 at 18:54:38

“Ya, this is the American dream, work yourself to death or be threatened with nothing.    That's how they get fewer people to work more for less.

jj88 on Aug 23, 2013 at 12:25:59

“Better unemployed than working 80 hrs a week. No sum of money would ever persuade me working that much.

The reality is that there are CompSci graduates in the silicon valley who now make more money than those in finance/law/consulting. And sometimes they work even less than 40 hrs a week.

If I worked in finance/law/consulting I would feel extremely depressed right now and I really wouldn't know how to justify my working choice.”

“"Actually it is falsifiable for several reason first and foremost is that these ancient proteins may one day be found."

Exactly, as the article says, you'd need a time machine for that. One day, we may invent a time machine and find these proteins.”

BannedInBoston on Aug 9, 2013 at 14:27:09

“Time machines are impossible in principle due to the so-called "grandfather paradox." Therefore, this speculation (I won't call it a theory) is not verifiable in principle”

“Yes, Norway is a very interesting and beautiful place.  Unfortunately, I can only afford to go there for work.  A Big Mac at McDonald's cost me $25.  I once bought a round of beer at a modest looking bar but at $13/beer, I stopped drinking.  Fortunately, the nature hikes are free.  I really enjoyed the country.  I drank right out of a stream that flowed from the glaciers.  Wonderful.”

Hmm ... It is amazing how many people believe that. Currently, none of our Canadian imported oil goes to China. We in Illinois gladly refine it and put the gasoline into our cars.

The misinformation floating through these boards is amazing.”

“Thank you so much for that link to a very interesting article. What impressed me the most, besides the fact that Sweden and Norway have switched roles, is the salaries paid! $23 an hour for peeling bananas, $52 nursing assistant, $25 janitor. Wow! I didn't know that Norway has more foreign workers than any other European country. The article didn't mention it but I know that Norway has universal single-payer health care. I note that Norway shares its oil revenue with its citizens, instead of the way it's done in America.”
