Colleges With The Happiest Students: Newsweek, College Prowler List

Colleges With The Happiest Students: Newsweek, College Prowler List

“If you took some time to look at the stats/data, you'll see that more than half of the undergrad population at these institutions are actually on generous fin aid.

Wealthy? Good lord, no. $59k/year tuition -- my parents make less than that COMBINED. But, I'm seriously so grateful for alum donors, because the amount of aid I receive makes it POSSIBLE for me to get an education at an elite institution.”

“While half of the undergrad population at these universities might be "filthy rich," the other half is on generous financial aid (mostly from the universities/alum donations).

So, the half that are on FA -- "entitled"? Hardly. They worked their asses off all the way through high school just to earn a spot at these elite institutions.”

“I dont recall any students being "stabbed outside of their class room[sic]" for "cell phones". Crime in the neighborhood is an issue, but that's another topic...

Also, while I'm not exactly sure how College Prowler/Newsweek compiled this list, I think "happiest" dealt more with the amenities aspect that the universities had for students -- not mentally/psychologically/emotionally "happiest" for students.

UChicago students are known to self-deprecate, so a lot of this "hearsay" about suicide rates, etc. is BS. Unless you've been an undergrad at the college in the last 5 years (it's gone through a lot of change), you're completely disconnected from the university and have no idea what's going on. So, sorry, but I think your input is more BS than the rankings.”
