“Seriously, do you not realize how many vegetable dishes are made with bacon, beef or chicken broth, etc? And most stuffing recipes call for sausage, giblets, and other non-veg ingredients. If people don't pay any attention to their vegetarian (and particularly vegan) guests' dietary needs, there could well be nothing but bread for them to eat in some households.”

“whats this thing that we would have gravy. we just had our dinner. it was delish. when you dont eat meat people dont realize how creative you can cook without meat/ i make incredible dishes and many i get from years of cooking with a sorta anti meat mother, or from vegetarian times online. id fan you again if i could!”

“Most everyone knows when they're having a vegetarian or vegan for dinner and can leave the meats out of the "side" dishes. I make vegetarian stuffing just so I can take leftovers to a friend's house. Oh, and because its yummy.”
“Bully for this woman. That's hardly a common experience, however, as many of us completely lose our sex drives as the hormones disappear. I remember vividly how good it used to feel and be, and I mourn the loss. That's not to say I don't still enjoy it, I just know it was so much more intense 10-20 years ago.”

“Thanks for your honesty, and thanks even more for being self-aware enough to not blame your man. If you didn't already know, you would not believe how rare those qualities are.”
“Depends how lucky and savvy you were in your investments.”

“I don't know about lucky.... If you put all your money in all technology or all oil or all commodities or real estate then maybe you need luck. But if you have a diversified portfolio of quality assets among different asset classes then history has shown that almost every 10 year period has had positive stock market returns. In real estate the renters are paying down your principal balance.
“What they really don't tell you is that pregnancy and childbirth messes up your body and it will never go back to what it was, unless maybe you are 19 when you give birth and/or have super elastic skin. Otherwise you will likely be stretched out and sagging.
Also, while I love both of my children, you basically give up your own life to have and raise them unless you are the type that hands them off to childcare or a nanny when they are 6 weeks old. I personally don't see why people like that have children.”
CdngrlinUS on Oct 6, 2013 at 17:35:29
“I was going to agree with you till your last sentence. people like that have children because not everyone is fortunate enough to stay home. Some people like that have businesses to run, some people like that have jobs that do not give maternity leave. You were good till you got all judgmental against others.”
“Good grief. As it happens, I was a believer until I started studying religion. So I'm not going to suddenly embrace bronze age myths again when I run into trouble. I've had plenty of tragedy and suffering in my family since becoming an atheist, including several deaths, accidents, etc. and calling on an invisible supernatural sky-daddy has never occurred to me. Sixteen thousand innocent little children died of starvation-related causes today. Why would I expect a god who allows that to help anyone?”

“Cont'd choices and now they can live with them and clean up their own mess. Mankind poisoned all of the water around the globe in various countries with their waste from industries contaminating the clean waters, dumping in the oceans from the cruise lines is happening now, they have spilled nuclear waste into the oceans and people are getting diseases from drinking this filthy poisonous water that they created but here they go again blaming GOD for what they all did... Wars have broken out all over the globe because of greed, power that they all want and who is suffering from all of these wars that mankind has created the poor people and children in those countries who are starving to death because of all the destruction and so forth..yet here they go again blaming GOD for what is taking place ..well HE didn't tell them to go and start wars with one another ...mankind did that to themselves. So please don't tell me about the 16,000 children suffering because GOD didn't cause that to happen mankind did so if you want to pick on anyone give a boot to mankind and voice your opinions about where are they all now instead of putting the blame on GOD...”
“When there's a tragedy, I rely on myself, my friends and my family. I do not need to pray to an invisible imaginary supernatural being.
And if I were in a car wreck, as this woman was, I'd call 911 for help. Which is exactly what happened.”

“Hopefully you never have a tragedy in your family or in your life directly...So many people say they don't believe in GOD..however when faced with the ultimate darkness in their lives you would be surprised at how many of them call out cry out, or start to pray to this so called invisible GOD...They usually do it in a private moment and it is strange how they manage to share their stories with other people later on in life.”
“If I am ever trapped in a wrecked car, I hope it's the firefighters and not representatives of the Catholic Child Molesters' League who show up.
If a god is micromanaging the world, why did he allow the girl to be critically injured in the first place? "Hey, thanks for the broken femur, broken ribs, lacerated liver, ruptured spleen and bruised lung god!"”
ACTRON on Aug 10, 2013 at 22:08:51
“Do you think that the Catholics are the only people who molest others? I would suggest you take a look again. Let me help you ..molesters exist in all walks of life. ..judges, lawyers police,, teachers, government officials, employers, workers,
child care sitters, clergy from a variety of congregations, sports officials, media staff, and the list is never ending. GOD doesn't have to save us or prevent anything from happening in our lives...that is why you have choices...however HE is there to guide you and take control of your life when you ask and need HIM to. Imagine if there was no suffering in this world such as illnesses, diseases, starvation, poverty, unemployment, how would you get people to care? They just wouldn't if this was a perfect world...There would be no need...so it is the suffering that causes people to leave their safe and comfortable homes and start giving out to others many times of themselves first and other worldly possessions that follow. That is why GOD allows all of this to take place so that we can share and feel for others regardless of the scenarios. It is a great Master Plan... and it works doesn't it!!”

“A while back I had read this very wonderful story about a man in the USA who went to the doctors because he could not see out of one of his eyes. Through testing they found out that he had cancer and was told that he would be losing one of his eyes.. In this mans story he mentioned that he never ever believed in GOD. On the way home from the doctors office he spotted a Church up the way and decided to pull over and he stated that something inside of him was pulling him towards the doors of the Church. He decided to go in and sat down and it was at that moment that he asked GOD to help him and cure him if HE existed. He went on to say that he felt an amazing warmth in that eye filled with cancer. He drove home and the following week just prior to surgery the doctors sent him down for a scan of some sort. The technician came out and viewed the last results with the new test results for the comparisons and was amazed to find that the cancer was totally gone. Call it whatever you want but this man suddenly realized that his talk with GOD had been answered ,..and he started to attend Church and study the Bible following that healing. Miracles do happen and this man reached out to GOD at a desperate moment and time in his life and he was”

“Why not...HE is her creator so HE can do whatever HE would like with any of us...Maybe it was to test her faith in HIM..which she proved when she asked for people to pray out loud...Maybe it was so that others could witness her asking for pray for herself which showed her belief and faith in HIM? Maybe it was because he wanted others to give of themselves by helping her out and not leaving her to die there in that place? HE could have had all of these plans in place following the accident. When the priest used the oil on her, it wasn't the oil that healed or sustained her it was her faith in the oil commanded by the LORD to use for the sick which is from the Book of James in the New Testament... HE is infinite and we are finite and therefore we could never truly understand why HE does everything but HE has reasons.”
“How is it hateful to point out false beliefs? I think it is much more hateful (at the very least, uncaring) to let people go through life believing in nonsense like miracles and an afterlife that will be so much better than this one.
False religious beliefs cause untold harm in the world.”
Philimanjaro on Aug 12, 2013 at 10:09:39
“It's the way you go about pointing them out that's hateful. If you need to belittle others when you do it, then you are hateful. Have a civil discussion, don't arrogantly dismiss their concerns and deeply rooted beliefs just because you think you're smarter.
"False religious beliefs cause untold harm in the world." There's a lot that can do untold harm to the world. Atheists certainly aren't above doing horrific things simply because they don't believe.”
“You are wrong. Atheists are willing to consider evidence if the evidence is credible. What's unusual about this case? Girl is in a near-fatal car wreck and the firefighters got her out.
If we had footage showing that the priest magically extracted her from the wreckage by himself, and then cured her extensive injuries, then maybe we'd think there was supernatural about the incident.
As it is? I guess religious people have a real low standard for miracles if you think god is performing miracles when you end up with a broken femur, broken ribs, a lacerated liver, a ruptured spleen and a bruised lung.”
“The bride "didn't expect to cover the huge reception?" I think people have somehow gotten the wrong idea about what a wedding is, and why you invite people to your wedding. It's not to show off how much money you can spend, and how big and elaborate a production you can finance. As for expecting to recoup the costs, what a noxious idea. Do you charge attendance when you have a barbeque or a dinner party? Give me a break. A wedding should be about sharing a special moment in your lives with your friends and family. You are giving the party to include and honor the attendees as much as they are there to help you celebrate. If you can't afford a huge celebration on your own dime, then have a modest, small party.
Seems to me that the bigger the wedding, the quicker the divorce. I imagine this will prove true in the above-mentioned bride's case, as her husband is not likely to put up with her entitlement attitude for long.
Also, there is NO requirement to give ANY gift to the couple. Any gift, no matter how small you may personally think it, should be gratefully received and acknowledged with a hand-written thank-you note.”
“Why? Why create a flawed world with flawed creatures and then test them? Sadism on the deity's part?”
NoMansLand11 on May 24, 2013 at 14:08:21
“hayness, flawed in what way, are you comparing other planets? Humans are the best creation but when working against one another we can be the worst... the critical thinking ability has been provided but using it is up to the individual(s). I think death is very much apart of life and the manner in which people die reaffirms the mortality of the remaining individuals so that we can reflect about death. Is life just to have fun, make money procreate and die? ”
“There is a great deal of discrimination against atheists. Just because you have not personally experienced it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I suppose you think gay people and minorities are manufacturing their feelings of being outcast?
Moreover, we are a minority and being an atheist in a predominantly theistic country can often feel like being an alien in a strange land. It's often helpful to have other like-minded people to hang out with and talk without having to self-censor every word.”
“Really? You bring in someone for questioning and don't check him for weapons before taking him into a closed room? Bull.
And how convenient that he was "just about to confess".”
Joe Pedersen on May 23, 2013 at 10:26:05
“My understanding is that they met in a public place to put the suspect at ease. If you want someone to co-operate, you don't start the interrogation by frisking the person. From the article it sounds like he admitted complicity in the murders, then realized he was in jeapordy personally and reacted in a panic. Your cynicism seems to outweigh your knowledge of police procedure.”
