“Mass psychological conditioning through the use of corporately owned, insidiously ubiquitous and impressively seductive mass media combined with a willfully ignorant populace desperate to believe the easy to understand sound bites they're fed because actually researching the subject is too much trouble, and they enjoy being angry and self-righteous.
...not that I don't enjoy being self-righteous as much as the next person. ;)
I just think that in matters as important as politics it's important to know as many of the facts as possible and form your own opinion, instead of taking someone else's as gospel.
Life in general seems pretty surreal to me most of the time, this is nothing new.”
“Seriously, the people you support are the one's bringing your fears to life.”

“I'm not a Republican; I'm a libertarian. I certainly don't agree with everything in the Republican Party's platform, but someone has to at least try to take away the punch bowl before the country is plunged irretrievably into penury.
I think the best solution would be to elect Libertarian Party candidates to try to pull the country out of the mess it's in. However at this late date I doubt whether even a libertarian administration could do anything except slow the decline.”

“It was the Beastie Boys made Brooklyn cool nationwide.
Paul's Boutique yo.”

“Beastie Boys? Are you kidding me? What about Jay-Z, Notorious B.I.G, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Busta Rhyhms, half of Wu Tang Clan, Big Daddy Kane, Spike Lee (non rapper), Lil' Kim (probably going to bite me in the butt for mentioning), MC Lyte, Spinderella (of Salt N' Peppa hype), Mike Tyson (another non-rapper)...come to think of it I can name 50 non-rapper celebrities off the type of my head, both black and white, that helped make Brooklyn cool....wait only one member of the Beastie Boys is even from Brooklyn (MCA). The other two are from Manhattan. FAIL!!!”
Let's try alcohol. Wait, too many to count. Let's try to count the bodies from prohibition.
30K in Mexico just this decade!”

“Whoever said alcohol doesn't cause deaths? Why add another legal substance. At least we have laws to clamp down on drunk driving then we have laws to clamp down on stoned drivers.
Anyways, the Cali cartel and the Medellin cartel have been decimated. Last year the deaths from drug related killing went down in Mexico. Is that because it became legal? There is no proof that legalization could end killing.”
“Oh, my bad. I didn't know Obama would be running against him.”
sal ear on Aug 1, 2013 at 03:02:43
“But.....Obama can't run a 3rd time? - wait! IF Obama opted to run as a REPUB - could he run again?
You know - kind of like he's assuming a whole new secret IDENTITY? Like he REINVENTS himself as a Repub? Then maybe he could run again?
IF SO (new secret identity) - then he could run against Rand Paul!
Nah....too many people would recognize him & remember he had been our faux Dem Prez for 8 years. Oh well......”
“you won't be missed because I doubt you ever did back him in the first place.”

“hazbro24- "Better later than never". The political system in DC is broken/corrupt and we have to concentrate on the state/city/town level to make a real change.”

“Seriously. Did he mention that Mr. Summers was also instrumental in repealing glass steagal and the clinton era commodities deregulation. They guy helped cause all this financial BS, and now he is somehow a "savior" in our time of need? Please, BO is bought and paid for in my opinion. I wasted my vote on him in 2008 and wrote in my father in 2012. This guy is as corrupt as the day is long. Hope and Change should have read: "Hope they don't notice nothing will change."”
