“I haven't read the opinion referenced here, but I think I will unplug the TV during the next election cycle.
Robin Williams has a segment in his HBO special and he said he thought politicians should have to wear the names of sponsors on their jackets like NASCAR drivers do. I would LOVE to see that!!”

“Candidates should be made to wear those asbestos-lined driving jump suits which festooned with logos of their corporate contributors (the larger and most strategically placed would suggest the amount of the contribution compared with the others).
Some of those doofuses wouldn't pass the laugh test, thus deserving to be defeated at the polls.”
“If the earthquake in Haiti is because of a "pack with the devil" per Pat Robertson, I hope everyone is praying for our country because we must really be deviled.. Not only do we have the likes Pat Robertson, we have Glen Beck AND Rush Limbaugh! Do you think his hearing loss was because of the sound of his own voice?
These three are lucky they live in this country where their repugnant speech is protected by the Constitution.
I just want to know where they live so I can stay away just in case we get an earthquake because of them.”

“Not to get too preachy, but I always have felt that if one messes up or continues to mess up in life that there is always some sort of consequences/retribution involved. In Rush's case, and if I was in his shoes, I'd sure as heck take an inventory and quickly of how I'm comporting myself. First, a hearing loss, and what does he make his leaving doing? Listening to folks. Hmmm... Then, a short while ago, he gets chest pains. All, I'm saying, I do believe he is getting some messages and he should start heeding them. If he looses a sizable chunk of money in the near future, well.....”

“What is a "pack" with the devil anyway?
As for their so-called right of free speech, whether Rust & Co. realize it, the Supreme Court put their and our rights in very serious jeopardy on Thursday. Maybe you read about it.
I sincerely hope I'm wrong but I fear that Jan. 21, 2010 may be the date future historians ( if they are allowed by the corporations to exist) that our democracy ended.”
“The reasons for this legislation was grandly side stepped in both versions. The relief for those with pre-existing conditions would not kick in until 2014. If I recall it also required one to be without insurance for six months ( I have read so many versions that I cannot remember where I read that part). It is obvious that no one who signed off on this bill had ever been without health insurance or dealt with those who do not have it. For the uninsured who have been praying for some respite with health care reform, this bill was sorely lacking. Waiting for four years to even have that part of the implementation effective and requiring people to be without insurance for six months before they can apply means certain death for cancer patients. It means loss of limbs or vision loss, end stage kidney or cardiac disease for those with diabetes or even death. Sixty seven percent of those on disability in my area would NOT have been totally disabled had they had access to preventative medical care or treatment when they became symptomatic. This does not include the financial ruin faced..
Keeping this defective bill in place is against equity and good conscience. It defeats the purpose and intent of health care reform legislation. However it has clearly demonstrated that prostitution is not just legal in Las Vegas. I am looking forward to the parade of "legislative whoredom" it will take to rewrite this.”

“Some of us refer to our grown children as 'babies" even if they are not exactly a baby. One of mine has had to refinance her house three times to pay for her health issue which manifested 45 days past her 18th birthday -15 days past her eligibility cut off for my health insurance coverage. She has not been able to get coverage since it is pre existing.”
“There are alot of things involving health care that need reform that may never be addressed in any meaningful way through legislation. Tomorrow a young man with pancreatic cancer will be admitted to Univ of MD Hospital. He really does not need to be there but the specilaist treating him refused to give him a prescription for pain killers unless he is admitted, They have all his records. He has been in and out of hospitals for several weeks now but not this particular one.He has little time left and wants to spend his time home. But he is in agony and the doctor in charge said it is his "policy" to not write prescriptions on the first visit- regardless of the diagnosis. So the same tests will be done- again with the same unfortunate conclusion and no one has bothered to look at the PATIENT in agony here, just cite policy. This fellow won't make the cover of People magazine. He won't be able to "buy" a doctor to give him a suitcase of drugs to ease his misery like Anna Nicole Smith or to administer mind numbing meds via IV to help him sleep like MJ. He will just fitfully pass through a health care system that claims to be " the best in the world" while those of us who love him keep praying for ONE doctor who will see the unecessary misery being passed along to this guy and help ease his pain”
“Enough of the nookie news already. I know - Australia got the criminals and we got the the puritians- ok I get that. However, there are millions of unemployed people who are desparate for jobs, for a glimmer of hope that they can have a real chance to save their homes and families from the brink destruction. I would love to see half of the endorsements Tiger Woods has squandered being spent of creation of jobs within those industries. If Americans need a role model, they can look to those parents who are taking any jobs they can get to support their families in this crisis rather then the deeds of the spoiled and disconneted make their case. Not everyone is interested in how much pipe Woods has/is laying anymore.”
