MFA: Is It Necessary? -- The Debate

Commented Jul 14, 2011 at 00:10:29 in Arts

“Hi Seth -- It was a debate and I argued the con side. I'm not against anyone getting the education they want, but an MFA is only one way for an artist to go. Ultimately, it's a very personal decision and if you can do it, especially without going into debt, go for it!”

“Hi Mat -- I agree. Juried shows are ultimately a good thing, especially for artists just starting to get their feet wet.”

“I could never understand how my mother- who was an actress- could keep acting and auditioning after not getting parts... until I became a painter and kept painting despite being rejected for things like juried shows. The positives make the rejections easier (although I know I would keep painting anyway)”
