Diet Soda's Effect On Teeth Terrifyingly Similar To Effects Of Meth, Crack Cocaine (PHOTO)

Diet Soda's Effect On Teeth Terrifyingly Similar To Effects Of Meth, Crack Cocaine (PHOTO)

Commented May 29, 2013 at 17:49:20 in Healthy Living

“The study does not say, as you say, "Diet soda can have the same effect on your tooth enamel as methamphetamine or crack cocaine use". It only says that diet soda drinkers who do not take care of their teeth can have the same problems as drug users who don't take care of their teeth. This blatant attempt to stir people up, click on headlines and make comments is very successful as an advertising gimmick I'm sure, but it damages The Huffington Post and it's readers. People are looking for information, not misinformation.

Indeed, a three-person study by a person who says, "I was trying to make a parallel between drug abusers — and the usual neglect for themselves — and put this with the same traits of someone who drinks diet soda."

Please be more responsible.

Nutrition Information On Menus: Is There A Better Way?

“Calories count. I lost 140 pounds after 25 years of dieting failure by using behavioral technique to form habits of eating in the proper caloric quantities. This would not have been possible without a complete knowledge of the calories in foods and my own individual caloric requirements. I have maintained my ideal weight now for 30 years and I've been training others in these techniques since 1985. This science has never failed to produce satisfactory weight loss. There is no mystery to weight control. If you can form habits of eating the right amount of calories, you will never have a weight problem. I have never had a client not lose weight using these methods. More about it at www.TheAndersonMethod.com

Expressing the exercise equivalents can help to create an awareness of the caloric impact that foods have, which is valuable knowledge for anyone who has a weight problem. I encourage this. However, for someone who wants to lose weight and keep it off, more needs to be known, and the accurate disclosure of the number of calories in any food being sold, whether it is in the grocery store or the restaurant, is absolutely essential. It has to be clear and easy to understand, and after a while, when the right habits have been developed, weight control can become easy.

Lose Belly Fat: Dr. Oz's 5 Tips For A Flatter Stomach

Commented May 21, 2013 at 20:58:54 in OWN

“These "5 Tips" articles attract attention and make for a good internet blog business, but they lead people on wild goose chases.

I have helped my patients really succeed in eliminating their belly fat by training them to eat what they like in the amounts that burn off their excess fat. When they develop habits of "undereating" what they like instead of trying some diet approach they will soon jettison, they lose the fat and excess weight for good.

Dr. Oz, please learn about my work and you'll be able to really help your chronically overweight patients.

“I am on a mission to help overweight people solve their weight and eating problem. I sell no products and have no advertising on my website. My practice is full. My outreach projects do not earn a profit and in fact cost me to conduct them. Might your irritation with my message that we can solve our weight problem through behavioral therapy be due to your unhappiness in having to change your habits to lose weight? Many people are looking for ways to lose weight without making permanent changes in their habits. Are you one of them?”

elcerritan on May 5, 2012 at 23:50:29

“She may not have a weight problem, but she appears to have a mental health problem.”

Aelfgifu1 on May 5, 2012 at 22:40:44

“Actually, I don't have a weight problem. I eat a healthy diet and get plenty of exercise. I know how to take care of myself.

You shouldn't flatter yourself that my irritation with you stems from the fact that I am somehow not receptive to your message. I've already explained to you in plain English what my problem is: You spam this board with information about your weight-loss program.

Furthermore, if you aren't motivated to spam this website based on profit and are only doing it out of a sense of compassion for others, as you claim, then you might want to explore why your first choice of insult towards me was call me overweight (when you clearly had to idea) and unhappy. Is that how you treat your patients? Maybe you need to explore what part of you still believes that the worst thing to be in this world is fat. It's clear you have never gotten over your own weight issues.

Nice try, though, in trying to turn this around to make it seem like I am the one at fault. Remember, unlike you, I have no hidden agenda.”

I'm not fan of spammers, either, but how are his comments "badgering others and forcing advertisements for products and services down their throats"? He's not holding a gun to peoples' heads, forcing them to read his comments or click on his links.”

“PCOS is a nasty circumstance that many of my clients have had to deal with. I'm sorry that you have been tormented with it, you're mother's unfortunate attempts to help and the resulting guilt and nuttiness we suffer.

You need to make health your priority rather than weight. If you could become a health nut, striving to become the healthiest example of a person with PCOS, that would be great. I can see you like the TV health fanatics, like religious fanatics, where eating a healthy regimen and exercising healthfully become your first priority in life, job #1. You could be an example to others with PCOS. The weight and size you are is not the important thing. The important thing is the optimum health you can create.

My best wishes to you for a miraculous response to the PCOS.”

I recently had the idea of seeing an endocrinologist and she prescribed me spironlactone which is a diuretic but also flushes out excess androgens in my system. I've been losing 3 pounds a week without even trying any harder than usual! And yes, I've been staying VERY hydrated, so it's not water weight.”

The problem with people who can't get themselves to do what they desperately want to do is not because they are weak-willed or flawed in self-control. There are factors at work that you are not aware of. You need to assume that there are things that you don't know.”

“You are right Alvaresk, that our environment is obesegenic. If you were familiar with my work, you would find that my book is a call for our culture to change as well as a guide to help the individual change. However, the individual who suffers from obesity cannot wait for the environment to change. My method teaches them how to become healthy in the midst of an unhealthy world. I don't know why you are so opposed to helping people change unhealthy behavior with psychotherapeutic technique. I think perhaps you don't really know what my work is about and are just making erroneous assumptions based on your misunderstanding of what behavioral therapy is. I invite you to read more about what I do by reading my articles here and reading my book.”

“You make a mistake Alvarask. I do not suggest that all overweight people have a mental illness. I would, however, take the position that we are all imperfect and can improve ourselves and our lives, perhaps even you!”

Alvarask on Feb 2, 2014 at 18:25:08

“There are few people as imperfect as I am Anderson...that's my superpower! And I appreciate that you personally may be able to navigate the fine line between the concepts of "behavioural disorder" and "mental illness", however society as a whole. Is not so good at it. The result is that pushing the whole false idea of "you're fat because you have no self control" is extremely damaging to the lives of people who are suffering no behavioural problems at all, but who live in fat bodies because the advice they are given to help them lose weight, is in fact making them fatter.”
