“Miley and her team deserve all kinds of credit for parlaying what she has into super-celebrity.
Idols are like professional athletes --- "summer's lease hath all too short a date." She also has something of the actor's detachment and craft. If she manages to survive the psychiatric & pharmacological pitfalls, it will be a complete triumph.”
“Romney is a reflexive hider. Virtually nothing he says is intended to be true in the ordinary, sane, adult sense: the motive is always to divert attention, even when no diversion is needed.
That said, what-R-did-wrong has become a Monday-morning (Tuesday-morning, Wednesday-morning ...) cottage industry, as unmoored from reality as R himself. In the age of Nate Silver, we know that you can actually find out things about reality, rather than re-telling endless plausible stories. It takes work, but why not give it a try?”
“The brilliance of all-lies-all-the-time is underappreciated. By severing the connection between language and truth, it effectively puts an end to representative democracy.
Not even Romney's advocates have the slightest idea what he'll do in office, because nothing he says is certified as more than a tactic in a situation. Whether he wins or loses, the strategy seems here to stay. I guess we'll have to get used to it.”
“"Yet special relativity breaks down if two people's relative velocity, the difference between their respective speeds, approaches the speed of light."
This is complete balderdash. What are you trying to say?”

“It's actually relatively simple. Can you move your arm faster then the speed of sound? NO.
However, when you're in a plane travelling faster then the speed of sound can you reach forward towards the controls? Yes. Thus your arm is actually moving forward faster then the speed of sound, but based on your relative speed within the vehicle you're just reaching forward at normal speed. This is why they call it the Theory of Relativity. Because your ACTUAL velocity only takes into account your speed relative to what you are already travelling.”

“You need to know some mathematics to understand this.”
