11-Year-Old Girl Testifies Against Gay Marriage Bill In Minnesota (VIDEO, POLL)

Commented Mar 29, 2013 at 20:20:02 in Gay Voices

“wtf! Whether you're against or for against gay marriage, how does two gay people getting married have any effect on whether her mom can be her mom. It borders on idiocy. And you know it's been brought up, what if a kid is parentless and no one adopts the kid because he or she is not considered highly adoptable because of an illness or a behavioral problem...if two gay people are willing to offer that child a home where no one else expresses an interest, it's better for the child to have a home than none. Not all children are as lucky as this little girl two have a mom and a dad and her statement precludes the possiblity of other kinds of situations that crop up. It's not expansive thinking on her part...oh but wait...what she read is the thinking of her dad sitting beside her anyway.”

White House Petition To Recognize Westboro Baptist Church As Hate Group Becomes Most Popular Ever

Commented Dec 27, 2012 at 03:07:02 in Politics

“Well the problem is...I think we have to find a way to draw the line when they inflict pain on people who are already in the worst pain possible--as they are burying a loved one--particularly in Newtown--with children. But even if we agree they can do what they're doing under the cover of the first ammendment, the consititution does not require us to give them tax exempt status.”

“I think because it's good theater. Honestly, West was certainly not the best the Republican Party has to offer. Frankly I was surprised how the Republican primaries went. Huntsman was the single level-headed candidate of the bunch the one statesman like candidate and he could get no traction. The ones that fought like bad children on a playground did better.”

“In the repub Party Huntsman was toast when he said .."call me crazy but I believe in science"”

Zaydin on Dec 27, 2012 at 03:34:12

“Huntsman was level-headed and reasonable, and that's why he lost the GOP primaries; the ones who actually voted in the GOP primaries didn't WANT a reasonable moderate. The Republicans who voted in the primaries wanted someone they felt was a dedicated, steadfast conservative (An anti-Obama, essentially) to get the nomination. But because there were so many far-right Republicans in the race, they split the ultra-conservative vote, and that gave Mitt Romney the opening he needed to build up majority support among the other voting blocks in the Republican party and secure the nomination.

Part of me has to wonder how much apathy towards Mitt Romney may have factored into his loss; that is how many Republicans who didn't like Obama, but didn't like Mitt Romney just as much decided to just not vote and stay home.”

“I come from a Reagan Democrat house where we like to give both sides equal hearing. On this one though, it does seem unthinkable when all our paychecks at our risk that not every politician is in Washington burning the midnight oil to get this done. Even Boehner's own party wouldn't let his proposal have a fair hearing. I'm sorry, it's not a liberal thing, it's just like a common sense to see that there is in-fighting even within the Republican party which stands to be a detriment to us all. I think we can't blame all the polarizing on Obama, I know every Republican at this post seems to like to spew at Obama, but the Republican are looking intransigent, and it's not good for the party. We do need 2 healthy political parties in this country, it's good for debate, but there's not much chance for healthy debate when politicians are staying home--and being well paid for it. Sorry.”

RTGerdes on Dec 27, 2012 at 17:34:55

“Boehner was sold out by Obama on Plan B. Obama and Boehner agreed behind closed doors on Plan B. Obama knew Boehner was going to have a hard sell with the more conservative Republicans and could have helped just by making a few phone calls. Instead, Obama wanted to get the upper hand on Boehner and destroy him by making Boehner look weak.”

“I agree no one should lie about another person, I would though mention the disseminated lies heaps of people believe about Obama's birth place, his religion, and the idea that the healthcare plan will add trillions of dollars of taxes on all of us (when in fact it's only a tax levied on people who don't take or have health insurance predicted at about 1 percent of people and not all of us). As for it being legal to have Swiss bank accounts, I personally could care less, I think the point is that it just has the smell of someone investing money overseas and not in America--when you are running for President of America. It's just a image thing, I suppose. Everyone needs to stop lying and people have to stop being so gullible and believe every lie they hear, which so many people seem to do so readily. Becaues they can't think for themselve, they just believe 30 second sound bites and don't do an honest job researching their candidates when they spend more time researching the fridge or car they buy. I'm just sayin'.”

“MATHOMPS wrote in his/her blog, "Do the crime... do the time. Don't expect special treatment regardless of the circumstances. The laws were created by a fair and democratic society." The compasion of MATHOMS is overwhelming. What is going on in this country with the overwhelming number of blogs on here lacking all compassion for anyone not like them, so unable to empathize or sympathize with a young girl just trying to keep it together. The lack of loving in our society as of late makes me sullen. It's very disappointing. And for a predominantly Christian culture, the remarks don't seem particularly Christian, so judgmental and harsh and having no knowledge of how difficult this girl's life might be in terms of having so much on her plate. Very disappointing comments. Get a heart.”

“So maybe you can explain this to me. Obama inherits this huge debt. LIke crazy debt from all the expensive wars we've been to. But when that's pointed out, it's said well he had three years to fix it. I got hit with huge hospital bills and it's taken me 3 years to rectify that, how does anyone not out of their mind think you can just erase trillions of dollars in debt in three years? Further maybe you can explain to me why people are against health care laws that would prevent their health insurance companies from denying them needed procedures, which happens routinely. Why would anyone be against unemployment benefits? What will they do if they ever find themselves unemployed? Why are people against safety nets that protect them? I don't get it. What is the thinking?”

The level of foolishness here is highly remarkable.”

Planned Parenthood In Pennsylvania May Be Defunded

Commented May 23, 2012 at 11:11:22 in Politics

“It's clear that Republicans have historically defunded programs that help financially disadvantaged people and people who through no fault of their own find themselves in terrible situations. For example, right now, in Rockland County New York, a Republican is seeking to defund and close down a psychiatric hospital that helps the mentally ill. So it would seem it's always a Republican government official that defunds absolutely necessary programs. So when they claim to be so Christian, is it so Christian to say screw the indigent and the poor. Is that what Jesus would have wanted? And would have Jesus been pro-gun and pro-assisting the one percenters. Anyone who says yes, is not really a student of Jesus Christ. And yet the Republican Party essentialy claims themselve as the Christian party. There is a great word in the dictionary for this: hypocrisy.”

“I don't think he/she is lying. They are just ignorant and are happy to assert all kinds of things having little knowledge of how the defunding will actually hurt people who need care (including mammograms and many other important services). Clearly these people really don't care if a financially disadvantaged woman dies of breast cancer. Adding on to that, it's interesting to note that it's a Republican in Rockland County new York, who is trying to defund a hospital that helps poor mentally ill. So I guess the Republicans hate women and hate the mentally ill, they don't give a damn. If these people met the people they are hurting, maybe then they might re-find their "Christian" selves and start acting Christian. . These are the same people who love their guns and judge harshly the gay community, despite the fact the religion says not to cast such judgment. And you know, if Jesus were alive, would he really be supporting a political party that is pro-gun, anti-funding health care programs for the financialy disadvantaged, etc.? Anyone who is honest and has studied the life of Jesus Christ may or may not have been Democrat, he probably wouldn't love political parties at all. But he surely would not have been Republican.”

I suppose he'll now start calling for the lynching of gay people. I think anyone on here supporting his vitriole condoning death to gays is not Christian even if they think so. Our faith tells us to do things like turn the other cheek and be forgiving, not f n' kill people. Sorry this politician is not a Christian, he is an inciter of hate. And I don't appreciate his nastiness being associated with what is otherwise a faith that does have beauty to it. He makes it ugly.”
