“The MISEDUCATION of my youth- notice the demographics of who keeps the trend trending? A mixture of races, but heavily Blacks & Latinos. Blacks & Latinos who are HIGHLY likely to be gay themselves and will be shrouded in the DL for a great portion of their young adult lives. Young Blacks & Latinos who are HIGHLY likely to end up identifying as MSMs & WSWs on some survey, but never LGBT. Young Blacks & Latinos that will promote violence against their openly queer [& closeted "suspect"] peers, leading to some committing suicide or some other act of violence to inflict self-harm. Young Blacks & Latinos who will marry & keep a side-piece that they praise when getting their backs blown out, but would readily LYNCH that same side piece as one Tweeter suggested, in public.
Young Blacks & Latinos that confuse & denote being "retarded" & gay [as slide 9 of 21 suggests] with being unfit to live a life given to him/her by a Source greater than ourselves.
The young Blacks & Latinos [& whites] that will commit suicide when the burden of the closet & DL LIFESTYLE [the DEFINITION of the term 'LIFESTYLE'] becomes as great as the whole wide world on one man's/woman's shoulders.
Oh, the MISEDUCATION of my youth- where do we go from here parents [& the lack thereof] of ALL races, creeds and walks of life? WHERE?”

“Highly likely to be gay themselves?Really I didn't know that?I know white guys on the DL to it's just not called that.”
“This comes as no surprise at the dawn of 2012- where there is wealth, exploitation will be rampant. I hope that two realizations can be had and one possible accusation can be debunked right here, right now:
1. The West is NOT the only country where being LGBT is both [attempted to be] suppressed and openly expressed simultaneously [openly expressed in terms of people being involved in "the life" so much that it can make news in the Huffington Post].
2. Being 'down-low' is not and NEVER was solely a Black/other relevant minority concern. If these men come to the West and de-garbed, they would be considered white until they speak or express their culture. Catch my drift?
The debunked myth/possible accusation- that being homosexual/Bi/Trans was ALWAYS a Western phenomenon that has seeped in and heavily influenced the rest of the world. The last I checked, the U.S. was not the birthplace of the entire modern world- and these are [more than likely] GROWN men with $$$ in the Arab Gulf. And men will be men, regardless. HAPPY 2012 y'all: let's strive to BREAK oppression, depression, myths and recessions.”
“Not sure if this was mentioned before, but there was a Black gay football character on BET's 'The Game' who outed himself to Malik, the team's QB [who also had the pleasure of dubbing the character 'gay Aiken'. And that was during one of the more popular seasons. #trayvon”
“"Your e-mail to me included a link to the school at which you work. That place is ridiculously beautiful; it looks like where the children raised in all those idyllic cottages painted by Thomas Kinkade matriculate." The road to hell is often paved with good intentions, no? ;+)
"Avoid that day, friend. Start looking for another job." Yes, the BEST time to start looking for work is when you are actually STILL employed [still have an active network etc.] #vOte2O12”
“People done been through some THANGS in life boy! I thought I have lived, but I am YET to learn...[shake ma head] THANK GOD she's OK, and has learned to respect spiritual fruits and not religious NUTS who have LONG broken society's FULL ABILITY to accept and not just tolerate.
Just YESTERDAY I heard of another preacher that was "delivered" from homosexuality.
And to that I say "'DA-FUCK?!" LOL #vOte2O12 #trayvOn”
“"We always purposefully did not apply to southern programs," Morgan says, "but the game has changed." After waiting years for a legal marriage, it's a blow to contemplate losing that status." Those who simply #H8 the LGBTQ community are achieving EXACTLY what DOMA set out to do 16 years ago. [sighs] Oh to be free... #trayvOn #vOte2O12 #lOve”
“Amen! My whole thought is- WHY pay to fund #H8? Even if your parents are footing the bill, as a budding college student, you ought to be smart enough to steer them successfully AWAY from certain schools. After all, it's called LIVING YOUR DREAMS, not theirs because these schools are "oh SOOOOOOOOOOO good". + we are all familiar with the closet cases leading these administrations and upholding rules & regulations that are oppressive to their own brethren & sistren. But that's for another post ;+) #TRAYVONMARTIN”
“You sure are right, but I'm just saying though- UCAL, Stanford, USC: NO OTHER SCHOOL CAN GIVE A BANG FOR THE BUCK THAN BIOLA? Psssscchht. I don't see how much different a "Christian" education is from that of a non-sectarian school anyhoo...”
“I'll never understand being GLBT and wanting to attend a Christian institution for such a costly investment such as higher education. IT IS BEYOND ME. However, to each his/her own, and I guess change has to start SOMEWHERE #IAMTRAYVONMARTIN #MARRIAGEEQUALITY”

“Also there are LGBT folk who are sincerely and devoutly Evangelical Christian, just like we are in every other religious/no religion possible group. These Evangelical LGBT people disagree with their faith system's view on LGBT issues, (if they didn't disagree they'd be closeted or going to ex-gay ministries,) but they might believe all the rest and value all the rest of the education that they get at a conservative Fundamentalist Bible college like BIOLA.
I don't get it myself. But then I'd not be at all interested in that religious option even if I was a Straight Cisgender Woman instead of a Bisexual Transsexual Woman.”

“It's not necessarily about 'wanting...' Christian parents feel quite free to try and compel kids to attend colleges reflecting their religious politics, cause they control the money and the rest... Not to mention that a lot of private religious *high schools* that spend even as much as a sixth of class time on dogma classes put students behind when it comes to trying to go to non-religious colleges: not that religious studies are inherently without educational value, but they *do* mean at least one subject a year *not* covered. It was a problem of going to Catholic school for me: and certainly I got better offers, particularly money-wise, from Catholic universities. But I'd had enough. And I paid a pretty heavy price by trying to go it alone, even by going to state university in hopes of paying my own way, even when scholarships were grants rather than loans (which also put parental cosigners in the position of power.)
The parental/financial coercion factors are of course there.
This can add up to a lot of people attending religious-controlled universities simply because it's a choice of that or the street. Certainly, too, when you're an LGBT kid filling out applications, even if you're conscious of these factors, it still looks like even a religious college would be 'better' than where you are then... But what you can or should put up with actually does look different once you're out in the world.”

“It sounds like the parents are picking up the tab. He/She wants a good education and has funding from his/her parents for what "they" will pay for.”
“"4. Refuse to fall prey to gender-based expectations. Gender typing is believed to impede emotional development and account for anti social behavior in boys. In my work with families and parenting, I have observed that boys who are not trapped in gender roles grow up to be more independent, more open-minded, and more sexually tolerant than their peers. Their exposure to a greater repertoire of potential identities gave them a sense of parental acceptance that laid the groundwork for a natural assertiveness. These boys also more easily treated females with respect and openness." Can we get an 'Amen'? I can certainly speak for myself- can anyone else?
"But scientists now know that boys are hardwired from birth to be boys--not to mention that homosexuality in men has biological roots." Can we get the "Christian" right/anti-gay/anti-LGBT/anti-ANYTHING-THAT-DOESN'T-CONFORM-TO-THE 66 BOOKS to GET THIS? They seem to be missing this...#IAMTRAYVONMARTIN”
