“When people state things like "90 percent of Americans have no idea who he is" they are actually praising the ignorance of people by not having a knowledge of the world at large. This is often the critique of that majority of Fox News' viewership and of America in general. Praising your own stupidity is not a good thing and people do not look at a lack of knowledge as an admirable trait.”
“This is an unending debate. On every site around the planet one group are saying what you just said and then another groups is responding with "yeah but as a Democratically elected government you surely would not allow another nation to blockade, assassinate or otherwise mess with and prevent your sovereignty"
Then there are people like me that are just so sick of it all that I don't even have the words to express it. So I just hope the innocent, young civilians are spared as much as possible because I know when one group believes they are the chosen ones who's saviour can only return when they all live in their promised land and another group feels their leader was given the word of the creator over a 20 year span from an arc-angel.... well, how can any sane person see anything but total destruction as a result of their mutual hatred and blessings from their sky gods?”
“Of the top 20 states by GDP, 15 of them are located in blue states. As well, the lowest 5 GDP's are in red states. Couple that with the lowest rates of post secondary education in the nation, you not only have states that are not self-sufficient but also all the engineering brains that will eventually make modern farming obsolete are based in blue states. Talk to me in 2 decades and we will see what good farming and mining are in a world that is increasingly becoming more efficient and creative and which is shedding the need for archaic practices like those used in the "Bread Basket".”
“If anyone really wants to look at what is wrong with the GOP they need not to look any further than their ridiculous use of the weather as a key player in this election. God spared the Republican convention, god punished voters for their stance on social issues, the hurricane disrupted Romney's momentum blah blah blah. In truth, the weather did what the weather does and The GOP has an outdated brand that panders to racists, theists, xenophobes and oligarchs and America has simply and swiftly said that the charade is over, the curtain is dropping and the future will be about truth and equality for all.”
“I love the posts about people moving to other countries where Obama is supported by no less than 75% of the population on every continent. These people really need to gather a few dollars together, strap on a back pack and leave middle America for a few weeks to see how the world actually work and maybe they will realize that gun toting, conservative theists and the governments that push their agenda on exists in a few nations..... Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Libya are 3 that immediately come to mind. I'm sure all those Tweeters would be most welcome living in a land where people "respect" the role of god in politics.”
“If you were to tell me the oak tree in your back yard spoke to you and told you to dump glue on your head I would laugh at you because it is rediculous. That is all religion is, a bunch of made up stuff. So me laughing at it is neither racist nor intollerant, just the proper reaction to comedic musings.”
“Jim Crow laws were still upheld in 1965... that is systematic and legal racism far less than a century ago. Maybe they aren't voting for him because he he is a fruitball that believes in Kolob and magic undergarments. ”
“You speak like all scientists are on the same team. Certainly one group has more than emphatically told another group "you were wrong". This is the beauty of science, it is always in competition with itself it ensure the truth is not only known but understood.”

“This is the beauty of science, it is always in competition with itself it ensure the truth is not only known but understood. TOO BAD POLITICIANS DIDN'T WORK THAT WAY.”
“I hear you but in a white majority nation that really has never faced its racist history with any real honesty or remorse it is still all too simple to suggest that the black guy saying there is racism is a "race card" when we all know bigotry is still alive and well and will still make a bigot choose someone he has nothing in common with like Romney just to prevent the black guy from winning.”
“Amazing that while god was blessing the Republican party and its leader that believes Kolob is a real place, he had time to create a temperature spike on a planet a billion kilometers away that nobody in the Universe would have known about if it wasn't for the curiosity and ingenuity of science.”
“The second I read someone say Evolution is only a theory as if they are comparing it to Columbo finding a piece of cheese and suspecting the jealous husband murdered the starlet I tend to stop reading.
In the scientific world the word theory is as complete as you can see if you are looking for "proof". Facts are actually the lowest order as saying the sky is blue is a fact but it doesn't explain anything or about to why it is blue. Some will argue "Sure evolution is a theory but not a law" but again a law only explains how a single thing works such as Newton's Laws of Motion, it is not nearly as broad as a theory.
Theories however are described as "a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world, based on a body of facts that have been repeatedly confirmed through observation and experiment." They come from multitudes of evidence, tests, and experiments that have been repeated over and over so as not to be dis-proven and evolve as more knowledge is gained.
So the theory of evolution, quantum field theory, plate tectonics theory and germ theory are 100% true.... how they are true is always subject to change as more learning is applied, but it does not change the truth of the theory.
Evolution happened, is happening and will happen. It is the reason we need new vaccines and why the Polar Bear is white.”

“Often repeated here, but it needs to be repeated often. Well said.”
“Reading the comments here and in other topics Republicans seem to know it is the blacks that are actually the racists and it is women who need to be told what to do with their bodies and it is the scientists that know nothing about nature. By the sounds of it Republicans have it all figured out for everyone, they just can't seem to find anyone with any character to lead their fledgling party so they resorted to the guy that believes a star or planet called Kolob exists and it is near the throne of god.
Meanwhile the whole world is in economic downturn that was created when GWB was in office and the fact the entire world has yet to come out of it is Obama's fault. No wonder the states with the lowest rates of post-secondary education always vote Republican.”
