“Imagine what the Palestinians would do to the Jews if positions were reversed and then make a better choice than "Free Palestine." Actually, you do not need to imagine anything. There is enough hard evidence that the Jews would welcome exile for a third time. You understand that there are no Jews in Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia - but there used to be.”
“I have no understanding of David Shasha. His criticisms of Israel make no sense and he references no one who is familiar to me in the Sephardic or Ashkenazi communities, not in Israel and not in the Diaspora. Mr. Shasha has built fictional characters with false motives for their actions and finally has condemned them all to perdition and damnation without mercy or modesty.
Ms. Kamm, to whom Shasha refers, has allegedly stolen secret documents with which she was entrusted that if revealed place lives at risk . She played judge, jury and executioner. Judge Goldstone does not even have the justification of being young and naive. He has made nothing better for the Jews and has justified the hate of the masses for Jews worldwide by his report's conclusions that are demonstrably false. In response the vengeful State of Israel has placed Kamm under house arrest, while Judge Goldstone, at first banned from his grandson's bar mitzvah will now be attending the event. Most other extant governments and cultures would have reacted more violently, putting a permanent end to the careers and often the lives of those who have tried to destroy them. The Jews use house arrest and ostracism. Shasha condemns all Israelis and Jews, wishing them nothing but heartache for trying to survive. It is he who has separated himself from Jewish history and its values.”

“Judge Goldstone reported the truth about what Israel did to the Palestine Community in Gaza.
Show us that you care.”

“I think Mr. Shasha is much more interested in hating and insulting Ashkenazi Jews than in offering any real insights. His columns are rants, not thoughtful political analysis. Israel is still a secular nation- but Mr. Shasha insists on making it a fight between Ashkenazi and Sephardic. His "analysis" is a series of biased pronouncements meant to put down one group to inflate another. When I want this style of commentary I can go to Faux News.”
“"Israel is reacting too strongly and too unfairly to the aggression it receives. "
Mr Varsavsky of course is joking. He could not possibly mean that entire populations of Israeli towns need to live 15 to 30 seconds from a bomb shelter. He could not possibly mean that sleep at night needs to be light in order to save your family when "Color Red" sounds. He could not possibly mean that parents have to dread allowing their children out to play at any time. Finally, he could not possibly mean that the occasional funeral of a friend or relative produced by random selection is acceptable.
Most important, Mr. Varsavsky could only write this sort of screed to Jews, since they are the only ones in the world who would understand his meaning. No one else in his right mind would accept the position of victim in the manner that he is proposing.
My guess is that Mr. Varsavsky has never been responsible for the safety of anyone else in the world but himself. He has never had to make policy decisions for people who put their trust in him. How much aggression would Mr. Varsavsky finally admit was too much for Israel before it had to use all force available to it to halt the daily rockets? How many precisely would have to die? His chuztpah is quite overwhelming and he probably does not even recognize it. Let him assume some responsibility for his pronouncements before putting pen to paper.”
What would you advise the Israelis to do, if after returning to the '67 borders, they find that they are still under attack? Would you, after having had them follow your keen advice, go to their rescue personally?”

“To fight.. simple.
Those borders were the AGREED upon resolution to this problem decades ago.
I.srael SIGNED ON to the agreement.. as did the neighboring Arab Nations... yet I.srael NEVER lived up to their WORD (settlements, etc).
If, after they adhere to the treaty, they are attacked... OF COURSE they should defend themselves, as ANY sovereign nation would have a right to do.”
“This is my first experience with the Huffington website. Surreal is my impression. Perlman and her readers do not seem to know that Israel and Iran do not share a common border. What precisely can Israel offer Iran to stop her from supporting proxies - Hamas and Hisb'Allah - that are trying to destroy her? If that question is irrelevant, then I can only gather that many on this website believe that Israel's people need to be sacrificed for the greater good. That position by all rights is not a humanist one. Israel is the remnant of a civilization that has persisted for thousands of years. Her separateness has not suited countless despots, as testified to in bold relief by Titus' arch in Rome. The current fad that de-emphasizes national boundaries is no different than civilizations that sought to swallow the Jews whole - Babylonians, Greeks, Romans, Christians, Muslims, Communists, Fascists, humanists. Jewish culture has withstood these onslaughts and will continue to do. The error of Europe in telling the Jews to go home and then turning on them because they indeed went home in a most successful manner is ironical in the extreme.”
