Should the Federal Government Be Giving Small Business Contracts to Fortune 500 Firms?

Should the Federal Government Be Giving Small Business Contracts to Fortune 500 Firms?

Commented May 24, 2013 at 11:04:56 in Small Business

“Lloyd,

It continues to amaze me that our elected leaders continue to do the same thing over and over again and nothing seems to change. We our a society whose foundation relays upon small businesses and the small businesses are the ones that the federal government continues to forget about. Is it because they do not have the millions of dollars to throw at our politicians during thier campaigns. We as the people who elect the leaders of this country into office need to speak up as a whole and put a stop to the corruption that continues to happen every day.”

“It's sad, but I'm afraid this issue proves that America is not a democracy. The corporate giants that are hijacking the lion's share of federal small business contracts seem to own every level of our government.”

“Lloyd,

This article breaks it down and tells the truth. I am sick and tired of hearing about how bad off we are, when in truth as you stated fix the real problems. Address the corruption and stop hiding the truth.

Thanks

Joe”

“Thank you Joe. It's so frustrating to see Obama on TV talking about all the cuts and how it's going to destroy the economy. He's just flat lying. With the cuts the federal government will have the same amount of money they had last year. LC”

“Llloyd,

It sounds like the never ending cycle of Corporate Control over our Federal Government, if the truth is spoke the purse strings close of these large corporations to fund these political campaigns, so they just keep the lies coming and the truth hidden. Thanks for always speaking up”

hp blogger Lloyd Chapman on Nov 8, 2012 at 14:17:15

“I think the average American would be stunned if they realized the control a very small number of corporations have over our government. Every magazine you pick up in Washington is full of full page ads from the nations biggest defense contractors. You can bet no matter how bad the economy gets, defense spending will not be cut significantly. America spends more on defense than the next ten largest countries. It's insane.”

Should We Send Federal Relief for Hurricane Sandy to Beverly Hills?

Commented Nov 7, 2012 at 10:36:49 in Small Business

“Lloyd,

That is one of the best comparisons I have heard in regards to the diversion of federal small business contracts to Fortune 500 companies I have ever heard. It makes it extremely simple for everyone to understand and it makes perfect sense.
I heard on the radio this morning on the way to work that over 6 billion dollars was spent on this election, not sure if these numbers are accurate or not, but either way if the corporate giants keep paying for these elections we'll the diversion of contracts ever stop?”

hp blogger Lloyd Chapman on Nov 7, 2012 at 20:10:20

“$6 billion sounds about right. Neither the President nor Congress has proposed anything to end the diversion of federal small business contracts to corporate giants. That's because the same Fortune 500 companies that fund political campaigns want every dime the government spends.”

Heart Disease, Cancer or Terrorist Attacks: What's Killing More of Your Friends and Family?

“Lloyd,

This blog brought numerous smiles to my face while reading, not becuase it was funny but because it is a sad and funny truth. I have lost both of my parents to cancer, my cousin when I was 6 to Leukamia, both grandparents to cancer and a dear friend to brain cancer. I to have lost no one to a terrostist attack, but my heart does go out to those who have, however I do know many who have lost loves ones to cancer and heart disease.
I have always wondered why there was never a cure for cancer, we are able to develop the most amazing things in our life time, heck there are robots to vaccum our carpets, camera's in which we can watch what are kids are doing at home on our cell phones, and I won't even go into the Aerospace and Spy equipment. This is America, Land of the Free and Home of the Brave, lets keep our borders protected at all costs, but at the same lets keep the same people we are trying to protect alive to enjoy the freedom we are so desperately trying to protect.
Thanks for your words Lloyd”

“You are certainly someone who understands that the real danger to our family and friends is cancer and heart disease and not terrorism. I'll tell you what I've told others that have responded to my blog--we need to spend money on the real risks we face--cancer and heart disease, not terrorism.”

One Broken Campaign Promise Could Cost Obama Election

“Lloyd,

It sounds like another one of Obama's empty promises. It is soemthing so simple just follow the laws. If us as citizens did not follow the laws put forth by the Supreme Court we would end of in prison. My question to the politicians is why does this not adhere to you? End the diversion of small business contracts and lets get this country back on its feet, by working with the backbone of this country the small businesses.

Thanks for all you do

Joe”

Obama Is Not Trying to Create Jobs; He's Trying to Get Re-elected

Commented Sep 9, 2011 at 18:21:36 in Business

“Lloyd,

I couldn't agree with you more! Obama has been talking about creating more jobs since he has gotten into office and so far everything he has done has been a total failure and has cost us as tax payers an enormous amount of money. I sit here and watch as our government redirects funds from the Dept of Labor in which is suppose to help create jobs and from our public schools systems. Do we not think about tomorrow? Our children our the future of this country lets pay attention to their needs and education since they are the future presidents of this country.
It sounds so simple to understand it is time to end the diversion of small business contracts to Fortune 500 companies and put the tax payer's dollars back into the hands they belong in which is the small businesses of this country.
Thanks for caring Lloyd”

Corporate Giants Land Obama Small Business Funds Under ARRA

Commented Oct 16, 2009 at 18:23:34 in Business

“Needless to say I am not surprised! There have been so many false promises made by this administration it is just par for the course. One good thing you can say about Obama as at least he is consistent, he consistently makes false promises, he consistently says one thing and does another, he consistently supports large business and of course he consistently ignores the needs of small business.

It is truly amazing to me to think that he won the Nobel Peace Prize and stated " A Call to Action" Well we have seen the action so far and I am willing to bet he will continue to be consistent.”

Alabama Congressman Parker Griffith Epitomizes Everything that is Wrong with Government

Commented Oct 1, 2009 at 19:14:06 in Business

“Accidental data errors and "unintended consequences." seem to be a way of life for politicians and the SBA. In a country in which we praise the right of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and we are told to raise our children with morals and to always be honest and to know the difference between right and wrong. What type of example is being made by the elected officials of this country?

I know I am held accountable at my job, where is the accountability in these folks jobs? Do they go home and discipline their children for not unloading the dishwasher or doing their chores? I am willing to bet they do, then why don't they practice what they preach and set examples for the future leaders of this country!

Lloyd thank you for doing your part and fighting the fight for us "little people"”

Government Loophole Will Slow Economic Recovery for Middle Class America

Commented Aug 28, 2009 at 18:50:32 in Business

“All I can say is WOW! It is so astounding to me that time after time we see money that should be helping our country and our economy and our children sent over to other countries. It is bad enough when money that is suppose to go to small businesses go to large corporations year after year, but now they are taking that small business money and sending it over seas! It is time for this to stop as Obama stated during his campaign. So Obama when is it time to end the diversion of small business contracts to fortune 500 companies as you promised? Thanks Lloyd keep it up!”
