“rocketdog56, maybe you are right. But I will refer you to the myth of redemptive violence, the very real fact of atonement and the efficacy of self-love and forgiveness. All it takes for a damaged child to be saved is for that innocent being to experience real human regard from just ONE caring adult in his/her life. Please read ANYTHING by Alice Miller.

Obama Was Warned Of Holiday Terror Threats
Commented Jan 03, 2010 at 17:32:36 in Politics
“More rules, defenses, weaponry and walls only stimulate the terrorist imagination.
So far, the list of solutions to terrorism are profoundly short sighted---similar to solving the automobile problem by building more highways. So it may help to keep in mind that the act of "Solving" is itself always a problem.
Our world can be understood to the same extent that we ourselves are a part of it. As soon as we attempt to be objective, we divide and separate. To see reality holistically is to participate in it so that human beings are redeemed to the context of the natural world and its processes. The problem of terrorism is made up of numerous interconnecting relationships and patterns, but so far we only see things that are separate and cut off from one another.
As Einstein reminds us, a problem cannot be solved using the same mindset that created it.”

“The problem with addressing acts of terrorism is that they are irrational. They are motivated by religious fervor, itself irrational, performed by men who are happy to die committing murder. I believe that most of the US airline security measures are a pathetic waste of time and resources, but obviously we should be doing basic screening for weapons and motives. But the shoe removal and keeping passengers in their seats during the last hour of flight are for show, not for security.”
