“Do you gun people ever look at how other civilized countries handle gun ownership? Oh, probably not. That would require an ability to read.”

“You mean like Iceland? That has 30.3 firearms per 100 people, and had 4 firearm deaths last year? Granted, you can't really compare any country to the U.S. We have way more firearms per 100 people, somewhere around 88, and a population of close to 315M people. There are no countries that are similar to the U.S. in size, population, demographics, and firearm possession. People always say, "oh look at England and Australia" Yeah, they have very low firearm deaths, you are also more than twice as likely to be raped, robbed, or assaulted in either compared to the U.S. Is that the trade off you're looking for?”
“Single payer? Medicare for all? You mean like countries where people live longer and the infant mortality rate is way lower than the U.S.? But WE'RE the best. FREE Market is best. People, don't let facts get in the way of what the GOP (aka Rush and Co.) say. Believe them! Who wants to live longer, anyway??”

“I think the average American's obesity and lack of self control are the real reasons why we have a lower life expectancy and higher infant mortality. Everybody having awesomely awesome free health coverage won't change the consumption rates of Joe Blow.”

“Amen, Sister. This country has become so knee-jerk about questioning *ANYTHING* to do with capitalism and free market economics. It surely wasn't so long ago that some large banks in this country became weary of regulations and wanted to compensate their upper management in the style to which they had become accustomed, along with other inventive "free market" chicanery. And if this doesn't ring a bell, perhaps you passed high school history, and remember what happened with the robber barons and laissez-faire economics.
There are some things that just shouldn't be "run like a business" and be subject to the cutthroat cost-cutting, profit-maximizing tactics that happen in a free market; education and healthcare are two of them. I'm sure there still be readers out there with their mouths agape, bleating "WHAT DO YOU MEAN; not 'run like a business'??? Everyone knows that the FREE MARKET solves *everything*. Go live in Russia, pinko commie."”
“I don't necessarily disagree with ThinkFree111 (though we don't know the politics of each school board member) but please, people, don't talk about our educational system until you finish your education. From your use of grammar you must be in 5th grade.”

“I always love the post that add nothing to the conversation but corrections to spelling or grammar in a snotty condescending tone”
“If evolution is a "fact" why are evolutionists so afraid of the teaching of creationism? Just lay the facts out. The world started a zillion years ago with a "big bang". And the fact that everything has an order and design is just an "accident". Don't be afraid.”
Angel1999 on Jul 31, 2013 at 20:58:51
“It's not a question of fear. Why should we waste limited time in a science class teaching something that has nothing to do with science? Should we also waste time in math teaching English composition?”
“The problem, as I see it, with "whistle blowers" in government is deciding who is smart enough (or wise enough, I guess I should say) to decide what government secrets to give away. Should any 25 year old boy have that kind of power? I'm not sure I want to put our country's safety into the hands of someone who thinks at that age that they know it all. They don't. I'm certainly not saying that our country or leaders are always right but I trust them more than I do any Tom, Dick or Harry that wants their fifteen minutes of fame.”
“What is wrong with men? Why would you ever think it's okay to make advances to someone who couldn't possibly be interested? No one wants to be groped by someone...even your own husband should respect boundaries. Just stop it!!”
“The main problem with so many of these "for profit" colleges is that they train students in fields that might be "high growth" but are still low wage. The students borrow three times as much money (at least) than they will make in a year. Now you can argue that people should be able to figure out this is a bad deal for themselves but many are very young or else they have been laid off from a good paying job they had for years and are looking for short-term training that will get them back in the job market. However the jobs are low paying and have few if any benefits. If nothing else the student loans backed by the government should not be available. These schools would go out of business without the government...yes, the same government they want to stay out of their business. Go figure.”

“Why didn't Trayvon "just go home"? Well, Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law says you don't have to make an attempt to flee. You can defend yourself. Isn't that the law that got Zimmerman off? Is it only valid if you're not a black teenager out minding his own business? Again...he didn't start this by following George...George started it by following Trayvon when the police dispatcher told him not to.”
Deej1965 on Jul 15, 2013 at 18:01:42
“Well said. But the racists that keep commenting on these threads tend to ignore the fact that Zimmerman started ALL of this when he 1) PROFILED the teenager, 2) got out of his car to PURSUE Trayvon, despite being warned not to do so, and 3) ACCOSTED him in the street.
Yet, Trayvon wasn't supposed to feel threatened, or exercise HIS right to defend himself? The delusion I see some of these comments far exceed that needed to declare someone legally insane.”

“Actually, GZ did not use the Stand Your Ground Law as a defense, he used self defense as a defense. Two very different legal principles. Once GZ was assaulted by TM, stand your ground no longer applied, simple Self Defense did.
Stand Your Ground just means you do not have to flee. TM did not have to flee, but that did not mean he could initiate an assault either. They could have both just stood there and spoke.
But, what the jury obviously believed, was that TM did not just stand his ground, he turned the confrontation physical and attacked GZ. GZ, on his back and with his head being smashed into the concrete, no longer had the stand your ground option, only self defense.”
“Rather you think everything the government does to protect us from terrorists is right or not...I really do not need a 29 year old high school drop-out to decide what should or should not be leaked. He alone does not have the authority or knowledge to put his country at risk. Should everyone who is entrusted with top secret information be allowed to decide whether it should continue to be top secret or not? I don't think so.”
“Mmmm....let's see. While the sexual assaults in the military are "troublesome" they really don't point to the President. The IRS "scandal" does. Now if you're main goal in life is to bring President Obama down then you have to be able to blame him for something. The "liberal" press needs to get on board and cover what the Koch (sic?) brothers want and not what is really important. Gads....get on board here and help the TeaFox get their way.”
“I'm from the St. Louis area. I have watched Larry over the years. This is unfortunate but maybe he can get a job at Fox "news". Bias isn't a problem there...as long as you're on the "right" side.”

“Seems that this administration has continually stepped over the line, and are now being caught up in a scandal that will show, unbiased results, that Obama and friends have targeted anyone disagreeing with the agenda of the left. All these unanswered questions to legitimate questions about Benghazi, IRS, Fort Hood, Black Panthers, Fast and Furious, or the AP scandal show a distinct lack honesty and integrity.”
“"offer his sincerest apologies to those who have taken him out of context, and who were offended" by the comments. How on earth could you take this out of context? You know, I do sometimes have views that are rather conservative but I never want to be considered a "Conservative". They are just mean, nasty and crazy....and mostly stupid.”
