“Palin's autobiography was her opportunity to share with the nation everything that we need to know about her -- including her character and her ability to work with others, as well as her understanding of domestic issues and foreign affairs.
On this fundamental goal, she succeeded wonderfully. We all now know that Palin is shallow, petty, and vindictive, and she has only a superficial understanding and appreciation of the complex issues affecting the populace.
Thanks, Sarah. You did your nation a great service.”

What really happened is that her handlers skimmed the bill looking for components that they could spin as "scary", and then they penned the key talking points for her. In 1994, Sparks would have been 15 years old. The original story states that the victim was at least 10 years younger than him, i.e. 5 years old or younger.
If true, that's worthy of a felony complaint against him even after so many years have passed.”

Acid Oceans: The 'Evil Twin' Of Climate Change
Commented Dec 18, 2009 at 10:42:34 in Green
“The impact of atmospheric CO2 levels on the aquatic environment is often overlooked during discussions about the global effects of man-made carbon-based gas emissions.
One issue that is rarely considered when discussing global CO2 concentrations is the effect of the oceans as a carbon dioxide buffer. A drop in atmospheric CO2 will not have a major impact on plant life due to the availability of oceanic CO2 that can be released (analogous to a time-release capsule).
However, it is possible to overload the buffering capability of the oceans by dumping too much CO2 into the atmosphere, and this is one of the concerns that climatologists consider when looking at long-term climate change projections.
When the oceanic carbon buffer is overwhelmed, the net result is an increase in the ocean's acidity, and this can have numerous consequences, one being a devastating impact on the many invertebrate species that rely on a calcium carbonate outer covering.”

Our system of creating legislation is a double-edged sword. All too often, in order to accommodate enough people to support a bill, it becomes bloated with amendments and neutered by the need to compromise.
This can also impact the leaders of the cause -- the danger in trying to be all things to all people is that, more often than not, you end up being nothing to no one.
No public option? No single-payer proposal? No expanded Medicare plan? Big mistake.
Since single-payer appears to be off the table, with respect to calling this health care REFORM, without the public option there's no there there.”

Nothing is changing except policy and everyone knows that creates paper work, not progress. Where I disagree is in the results of these efforts; the system was designed to keep the US in the center - not too far left or right. If you look at legislations, that's how we shake out.
