“I'm White, and am from the far south side of Chicago. Though your sweeping generalization is correct on some points, not all of us are completely out of tune. It's more of an issue of being relatively powerless to help, this is nothing new here and we are relegated to being treated like complete outsiders when we do try to step in. This is of course not the case for most whites, where I will agree we have turned a blind eye to it and likely will for some time to come. I am not sure what precisely you are asking of our kind. The reason the police were there initially is what appears to be again, a black on black act of gun violence.”
“He really cannot sing too well at all, he has no range. That kid doing the 'Paparazzi' cover is universally more talented, I hope a competing label (there are only what, 4 majors anyhow) snatches him up and quells this noisy and annoying PR storm”

“Have you seen Bieber sing before he got famous? Go check out his YouTube videos...he's a really good singer. It's not to say that kid that covered Paparazzi isn't as good...they're both actually really good.”
“I'll say he has. Two things I had never seen until Iggy Pop, first a man wearing pantyhose with no underwear underneath, second Iggy getting booed off stage as the opening act for a Rolling Stones concert. And I'm guessing those are two things I'll never see again if there's a god for idiots.”
“Hi Robin, I own an independent record label and my distribution isn't any different than a major except that I can be more selective as to whom and where I distribute. As well as every major online retailer, I didn't know Itunes was 'erratic distribution'. Secondly, I am also referring to smaller labels that ARE in fact, affiliated with RIAA including Equal Vision Records, who have a roster that includes many bands you wouldn't dare listen to but get the distribution they need.
I also have friends on one of the best independent labels (Sargent House) and they by NO MEANS even are required to come close to the absurd and arbitrary figure you spouted off. As well as what would be considered by major label standards to be a massive, massive sharing of profits in relative comparison. I am a seasoned musician, artist manager and A&R representative and have been for half of my life now. YOU don't know what you are talking about and worst of all you made 4 wordy paragraphs. The Latin markets are the only ones that still sell actual, physical compact discs as well so that makes it rather easy to pirate on an outdated format. Wise up before you start throwing out accusations of lack of knowledge in a particular field. This is mine.”
“Major labels and pop music is evil, certainly. Independent musicians who see less than $30,000 a year because the consuming public would rather download their album than buy it (thereby reducing the debt incurred to the artists by the recording deal that facilitated the record to exist in the first place) is far more evil. Support the indies, buy CD's, T-Shirts, and MP3's and go to their concerts, don't sit at home doing nothing or spend another afternoon at the mall instead.”

“Unfortunately, you don't know what you're talking about.
Most indie albums have erratic distribution, no promotion and non-existent tour support. Moreover, nobody, including the RIAA and the MPAA, has any concrete idea of just how much actual piracy is out there. Indie labels also use the same cross-collateralization ripoff as the labels, which means an artist has to sell well into six figures before they see dime one while the label has already made a handsome profit.
People use file sharing for music for a while bunch of different reasons, a lot of them not intending to steal anything from artists. However, just why they use these programs has never really been studied in a thorough manner.
Meanwhile, the RIAA continues to allow pirated music to be sold openly at local swap meets across the nation (mostly for the Latin market). What is up with that? That is like shooting a fish in a barrel. But instead, the snoop people's computers. This is idiocy!”

“indie rock sucks. There is a reason nobody is buying their albums..... it's not because people are downloading them for free.”
“Both are wrong, this is a pissing contest between religions that will go on as long as people somehow believe an omnipotent and omniscient being favors one group to another and created the universe to worship itself.”

“God just forgot to add the part where he said he hates you for being gay. I love how people can skim past all those parts in that pile of crap 2,000 year old text and just cut and paste the 'word of God' to tailor fit their lives.”
gbloodgood on Jun 11, 2010 at 12:39:57
“Actually the bible says a man should not lie down with a man as with a woman. Not that he can't be gay. So lie with a man like a man and you're okay.”

“Actually, if you peruse the sections of the bible that deal with sex, you'll find it says absolutely nothing about two women having a sexual relationship - only men.”

“God doesn't hate her for being gay. God is love. He abhors the sin, the sin is the abomination. Sin is sin and we will all answer for our own. I hope she can when it's her turn.”
