“Just under 5'1 and it is such an asset !
I can be make myself confortable at the movies, on a plane. I just have to smile and ask for someone to grab something and they will, sometimes I don't even have to ask. I never have to carry my luggage, some nice guy will always volonteer to help.
I can snuggle on a man's lap and make him feel tall and strong. Though the taller ones actually gravitates to me more than the shorter ones. Go figure !
I look much younger than my actual age, which is surely better now than it used to be.
People are never mean or angry with me, always helpful (maybe they fear I burst into tears), and yes, though I have women's curves, I have been called a little sparrow, a little pixie, and well, what's wrong with that ?”

“Most of the short women I know think along the same line you seem to. From what I've seen it's mostly short men and tall women who are overly obsessed with height.”
“You are not wrong. Up to about age 15, kids take a bimontly class in music, and alternatively in plastic arts (drawing, sewing, whatever). After age 15, this is replaced with philosophy, physics, and other more complicated subjects. There is one 2 hours sports session weekly and another session comes every other week where 3 different sports per term are tackled. Our kids also spend more time in school, but basically, whether you have money or not, you live in a small countryside village or in a big city, parents are motorized or not, everyone gets to brush the basics of music, drawing, etc and exercise weekly. Not sure we have the best system and it is unfortunately get bad, but it is as I described.”

“It is an excellent system and my children are folurishing. I'm in a tiny village on the coast of Brittany.”

“This is correct. We, French, are slim by eating everything in moderation, however sufficient quantities. We do not drink wine outside meals or hot beverages like some commercial coffeesalon brands offer and even less soft drinks. Our coffee is just coffee, small and unsweetened most often.
By digressing, the newer generations are getting fat. We had a regular mid afternoon snack as kids, usually French bread (no fat or sugar involved), sometimes buttered, sometimes with jam (often homemade) or sometimes a few chocolate squares (not candy bars). Dessert is a piece of fruit or yogurt, the natural kind, pastries are a (not regular) treat.
This said, the acceptable weight is extremely low in the US (we do not go by size as there is too much vanity sizing in US brands) and we are not trying to reach that absolute skinniness that some think is the norm. Our acceptable body weight range from thin to sturdy, within the medical guidelines. Start dieting and each time you gain everything plus a lb or 2 back.”
“Absolutely. Reading these posts, I am amazed to see how women who pretend to support women are actually supporting wives only. Do not forget the other woman is also often a victim. Victim of a man's lie, manipulation or repeated tentatives of seduction. Once he is found out, he will say that there is nothing left between him and his wife, another lie that the victim wants to believe, not because she is stupid but because when in love, women can be easily manipulated and it is hard to see they are being victim when all they want is love and happiness.
The married man who did not stand up and say upfront he is married even before flirtation starts is the only guilty party. The other women are victims. Clearly. The reverse is true too, cheaters are cheaters and they make victims.”

“Most mistresses find out quite early in a relationship the man they are with is married and will still carry on for years. They are not victims!, you are only a victim if you are with him for years on end and he was really good at covering his tracks which rarely happens. They are pathetic women with a gross need for attention anyway they can get it. I have worked with a number of "the other woman" and needless to say the heartache they get is really on them more so than the man they are sleeping with.”
“Degrade ? So you think having plastic surgery is degrading ? I have never said I disapprove of transgender and cannot be accused of being conservative. My son's godfather is gay, and I chose this guy 15 years ago. All I said is the competition is not fair and too much plastic is unfair to natural contestant. Not everyone wants to look plastic, like the imposed image of what a woman is supposed to be.”
“Actually you are wrong here. For a same height, men have more muscles and less fat. Therefore, men = more muscle mass/ less body fat. That makes it an unfair advantage because born women have to work much harder in order to achieve this and at the risk of loosing their fertility. If you do not have enough body fat, you cannot conceive. This means women have to renounce carrying a baby in order to compete with women who were born male. This is not a discrimination against transgender, this is fact. Check it.”
“Transgender thinks of themselves as of the opposite sex. Therefore, she is a woman and changed her body to adapt to what she feels she is. However, for women, this is a double whammy. It can be seen as a result of a progress in accepting people as they are also advancing women's cause but by changing the rules to accept a transgender individual (at what stage should it start ?), we accept the implicit modification of the body. She obviously does not have natural breasts and though I am not a plastic surgeon, her nose and cheekbones do not look real to me. There is the advantage of height (I don't think taller is better but obviously in a beauty pageant, shorter women need not apply) and of a leaner body mass, at least. Venezuela and other countries already modify young women to fit the Miss Whatever competitions standards. More and more, the" desirable" type of woman looks like a superhero. Long limbs, fatfree, big breasts... Having a totally remodelled woman officially on the competition is going to open the door to a new trend for women's body. One even more difficult to attain, a little bit easier if you were born a man, tall, lean with a well defined jaw...”

“you only degrade her only because she is who and what she is,if it was never known she was transgender, you would have no clue!”

“There are actually no rules against cosmetic surgery for the Miss Universe pageant. So whether or not her breasts, cheekbones or anything else is natural is meaningless.”
Daniel Vidal on Apr 10, 2012 at 15:54:44
“well, hormones determine fat distribution. I agree on the nose and cheekbones, but the lean body and whatnot, those come from hard work.”
“In Europe, the norm is natural. Only for religious reasons is a male circumcised. I am a woman but I bet the ones that get stares at the gym are the circumsised ones here. No European would think a circumsised penis looks better. We'd do the double take on the cut penis, out of curiosity, the rare thing. This is just a cultural thing. Get over it, the trend is changing. And I do not think that Europe has a greater percentage of diseases and that European males are less clean. Providing access to water, there are clean people and dirty people everywhere. And I have lived on 4 continents.”

“Yes, in England it's the norm. Also for medical reasons, it is practiced.”

“The late French president's name is François Mitterand (1916-1996), socialist, president from 1981 to 1995, his successor, conservative, was president from 1995 to 2007 and is still alive. Just to set things straight.
Otherwise, having lived in both countries, I can only agree, except that, as in most parts of the world, culture in France tends to Americanize and people are more and more seeking youth.”
