“first of all, the Duck Dynasty argument is predicated on belief in the Bible and how its directives are perceived. that does not bind anyone else to his beliefs. i have long since ceased believing the Biblical account of creation; the walking snake the lured humanity into sin does not strike me as a being particularly account of how the earth was created or how humanity came to be. that being said, i'm not at all surprised to hear the man's reaction to anything he thinks is sinful. i wouldn't have even asked him because i'm not at all curious to learn how he thinks. he has a right to reject whatever he wants to reject. he can rail against anything or anybody. it is his right and he is okay so long as all he does is rail. the line is drawn at taking actions to back up his beliefs.”
“legislators on the payroll of the NRA are not going to change their minds for obvious reasons. and if there is this digging in on each side, that only benefits the NRA-minded among us, because digging in is all that's being done, and as long as that's the case, then the real beneficiaries of the current law, the gun manufacturers, will continue to flourish while the public at large can only pray the next mass shooting won't include them among the casualties.”

“If you actually care to know, the NRA donates very little to politicians. Bloomburg and Soros spread around more money on their own than the NRA does”

“The NRA protecting second amendment rights is small potatoes compared to these arms:
As defense giants like Boeing, Raytheon (RTN, Fortune 500), and Lockheed Martin (LMT, Fortune 500) increasingly seek to peddle their wares to well-financed (sometimes by the U.S.) international customers, they have a surprising ally: the President. "Obama is much more favorably disposed to arms exports than any of the previous Democratic administrations," says Loren Thompson, a veteran defense consultant. Or, as Jeff Abramson, deputy director of the Arms Control Association, puts it: "There's an Obama arms bazaar going on."”

“Darn democracy. If only our wise liberal rulers could just dictate the law.”
“probably necessitated when Brian and Stewie brought human Brian to this universe from one where dogs ruled humans. remember? Brian and Stewie watching Brian, as Stewie narrates "Well, there he goes off to discover the wor-Oh, my God, he got hit by a car!"”
“why not adopt the Texas State Senate filibuster rules: you can filibuster only as long as you are able to continue to speak. anything that causes you to relinquish the floor will end your min-gov't shutdown. the grand old tea party is comfortable with this in Texas, why not in D C?”
SangZe on Nov 21, 2013 at 20:51:28
“What? Are proposing standing up in person and deefnding something? Are you nuts? Why . .. why . . how ridiculous . . . No one in the USA actually stands up for they think is honest and upright. That's a joke from the last century. Wake up man. This is the century where you buy the election, pay the courts to bless you. Democracy is just a buss word, man, nothing to be taken eseriously . . . unless you got a lot of money . . .”
“i see your point, but the president made it already. and truth is, if any president has made any appointments, they should get up or down votes, end of story. if you think about it, this will end this business of feet dragging by the minority in the Senate, and all the grand old tea party has to do to take advantage of it is win the White House, and all they have to do to get there is beat Hillary. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAHA! seriously, good luck with that one!”
Angela Renee Horner on Nov 21, 2013 at 17:40:02
“Don't think someone will have too much trouble beating Hillary!!”
“i'd go a lot further than this: i'd invoke the same rules the Texas State Senate uses on filibusters. to keep up a filibuster in that deliberative body, you have to be there and continue to talk, by yourself. sit down, go to the bathroom, anything that requires you to relinquish the floor, your filibuster is over. simple majority after that wins the day.”
“okay, we have another brave soul throwing out insults while hiding behind a computer. unknot yer panties, granny. i did say "if".”
Princess Debbie M on Oct 27, 2013 at 17:00:12
“Lol. "throwing out insults while hiding behind a computer?" That is exactly what you did after you said, "If its true, then isn't that hate embodied ..." SO let me ask you, where were you when you posted the comment? Let me guess, behind a computer? You dems crap then step in it. You can't say "IF it happened" then continue your post like IT DID HAPPEN.”
“if this is true, then isn't that hate embodied in the speech of people like Sessions?”
Princess Debbie M on Oct 25, 2013 at 15:13:04
“"If this is true?" Are you kidding?? It Is not true. Harry/Dick were spewing a comment they heard. This is called Hearsay a.k.a. Rumors! White House Officials, Jay Carney, Pete Sessions, and Dimmers that were actually at the meeting all said the same thing, "IT NEVER HAPPENED." So why make the comment "if this is true, then..." Grow a brain please, you are mentally defunct!”
Eleventh Hour on Oct 25, 2013 at 12:50:53
“Sessions did NOT make the comment, try reading what dems who were there had to say in the article, that you DID NOT read.
Now, what were you saying about hayte, and doesn't it just reflect you and your party?”
“"Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but on the contrary, blessing; knowing that ye are called to this, that ye should inherit a blessing." 1 Peter 3:9
Pretty good for a President that the likes of Sessions has called a non-Christian. Perhaps Mr. Sessions would do well to take some lessons on Christianity from the man he cannot even stand to look at.”
jlsayler on Oct 25, 2013 at 14:46:55
“How someone with such contempt for our system of equality could feel free to disparage our President is beyond reprehensible.”
Princess Debbie M on Oct 25, 2013 at 14:25:49
“What is your point? Is it that Obama quoted a verse from the Bible and didn't melt? Do you believe that if person quotes a verse from the Bible it makes them a believer, a Christian? Are you that dumb? You can't base a man's true self on what he says, its based on his actions! The Bible clearly states that Man is not judged by his words alone, there must be "works" that support his words, that is the gist of the scripture! Furthermore, if you read the article you will find that Harry/Dick simply repeated Hearsay a.k.a. Rumors! Everyone that was at the meeting said "IT DIDN'T HAPPEN." Good Googlie you Dems are Dense!”
Eleventh Hour on Oct 25, 2013 at 12:37:03
“Perhaps you should see what Scripture has to say about living up to responsibility, honesty, integrity, etc. Next time, "think on those things" prior to voting.
I think you should also beware of the "planks in your own eyes," too. Did you know that democrats who were THERE say that Sessions never said that, and it's your party members you should be trying to "preach" to?”
“we've made a terrible mistake in this country by leaving law-making as the sole purview of congress. otherwise, a citizen initiative might put Members of Congress on minimum wage, thus making them eligible for an 88 cent meal or two each day.”
dazed1821 on Oct 25, 2013 at 12:30:31
“I honestly think their wages should be based on the median wages of their state and or district. Want an increase Representative? Improve the lot of the people you represent.”
“Bugs Bunny once got one of his nemeses to agree to a pie in the face (or its equivalent), and before he delivered, he got to deliver one of his best lines ever: Imagine that! The man is asking for it!
That, in effect, is what John Boehner has done. He may have helped deliver control of the House of Reps to the Democrats in an off-year election. That's better than snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. This is so unprecedented, there is no explanation for it.
It's better than the Grand Old Tea Party's candidate for Governor of California inadvertently doing a commercial for her opponent.
Here, Boehner sets up a situation where the vast majority of voters want him to lose the position as Speaker of the House, and then makes it highly likely they'll make their wish come true.
If everything goes as it should, President Obama may very well have a congress not unlike the one he had during his first two years in office-controlled by his party. And that means his last two years may be more productive than any lame duck president's ever was.
And he might have to thank John Boehner for it. Heck, i'd send him a dozen roses if this does happen. I mean, up till the gov't shut down, we all pretty much assumed he was useless. Way to go, John!”
